IMO just talking about CMC vs Mitchell is getting sidetracked on bigger picture. CMC is just not needed to carry the load like he did in SF. CMC vs Mitchell is just part of that equation but it's aso about Deebo, Aiyuk and Kittle on a team that runs on the lower end of passing volume. Last night actually saw all of them have at least a solid fantasy game which is really hard to do on 29 pass attempts. But that's the point some of us have tried to make, we did not use 1.1 or 1.2 on CMC for solid or care about getting sidetracked with were he would rank for ROS. At least I don't care about that. All I care about is analyzing was this trade a downgrade for him for ROS and I can't see how anyone continues to see it any differently.
Their offense is fun to watch and CMC's versatility has seemingly opened the whole thing up, especially key in giving Jimmy G another "Easy Button" option which I think has made him extremely comfortable. No one is or should be disputing that CMC is still a first round caliber fantasy player or that in real football not running him into the ground is a plus for his long term outlook and SF's outlook in the playoffs. But none of that does not mean CMC took a decent sized fantasy downgrade for ROS with this trade.

I really don't think it's necessary for you to insult my fantasy team which you imagine, or to question whether I watched the game. I don't do that crap to you.If you watched the game(not saying you didnt), they were CMC obsessed in the first Half and it opened up a lot of easy scores to other guys on the roster. He's not going to be the consensus choice for 1.01 next year, is he?
Not good for your FF team but things ebb and flow, I imagine he will have a 25-30 pt game soon and people won't be asking these questions for long.
He was close to breaking one several times, as it was he was gaining nice yds on his touches, 7 receptions on top of 100 yds last night.
17-18 pts never felt so empty watching all the other Niners score TDs
Mitchell didn't really touch the ball until the 2nd Half, it wasn't a time share when the game was tight

There are more people on SF to share time with and share the ball with in SF than there were in CAR, McCaffrey's been injured a fair amount, and he's not going to be 1.01 next year.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Christian McCaffrey is day to day with "knee irritation."
McCaffrey dealt with the knee issue last week, though it never forced him to leave the game. He totaled 15 touches while splitting work with Elijah Mitchell, who is now out for the remainder of the regular season with a knee injury. McCaffrey appears on track to play in Week 13, but his workload could be kept in check. If he does wind up splitting work, it will be worth Jordan Mason. The UDFA from Georgia Tech has yet to make an impact as a rookie, but he is in line for the No. 2 role now. Mason should be rostered in all fantasy formats.

Issue is, if Seattle drops another one, San Fran isn't getting the 1 but they'll have the inside track on the division. Their season starts in JanuaryMitchell going down opens the potential top RB window for CMC again. I don't see Jordan Mason or Davis-Price getting anywhere near the work Mitchell did. I don't think the issue was ever saving wear and tear on CMC, the issue was Mitchell being really good when healthy, and earning touches.

My guess is for every 20 touches Cmc gets, RB2 will get 10-14 touches.
Prob no more than he has been, which has been 2-5 carries per game most of the season. Oh goody now I get to see the undrafted kid out touch him every week

Christian McCaffrey (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday McCaffrey was day to day with knee irritation. A DNP to start the week is ominous, but McCaffrey doesn't need a full week of practice to be effective. The missed session is likely workload management for the three-down threat. McCaffrey drafters can begin to worry if he misses practice on Thursday. With Elijah Mitchell done for the regular season, Jordan Mason could be the next man up to split work with a banged-up CMC.

Christian McCaffrey believes he "dodged a bullet" with his knee issue and expects a full workload in Week 13 against the Dolphins.
"I feel great," McCaffrey said after Thursday's practice. It is the best possible update after McCaffrey was limited in San Francisco's grind-it-out Week 12 win over the Saints, especially since Elijah Mitchell is now done for the season with a knee issue. It's possible the 49ers mix in a little more Tevin Coleman and Jordan Mason than they maybe otherwise would, but fantasy managers can now be confident McCaffrey will see at least 15-20 touches in what will hopefully be a shootout with the Dolphins.

Christian McCaffrey (knee) practiced on Thursday.
Assembled reporters noted that McCaffrey ran full speed and caught passes from Jimmy Garoppolo. It looks like the knee irritation isn't going to be something that holds McCaffrey out of Week 13 against the Dolphins. He'll remain a strong RB1 option if he can go -- and the lack of Elijah Mitchell arguably elevates him further up the ranks as the 49ers won't have quite as much confidence in their other backups. We'll see what else comes out of the media and practice on Friday, but this is great news for McCaffrey drafters.

Christian McCaffrey (knee) is not on San Francisco's final Week 13 injury report against the Dolphins.
No surprise after the glowing interview that McCaffrey gave San Francisco's press last night. McCaffrey will be on the RB1 line against the Dolphins with no Elijah Mitchell to demand touches behind him. If San Francisco doesn't trust their other backs, it could be a big day for McCaffrey.
Dec 2, 2022, 5:06 PM ET
Christian McCaffrey rushed 17 times for 66 yards in the 49ers' Week 13 win over the Dolphins, adding eight catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
With Elijah Mitchell out this week, McCaffrey was poised for a sizable jump in his workload. Jordan Mason pitched in for eight carries but McCaffrey operated as the clear top back in San Francisco. His grip on that role was a bit more tenuous with Mitchell in the fold. Over the past five weeks, McCaffrey is averaging six catches for 52 yards through the air while also totaling more than a dozen carries on the ground weekly. His expanding role in an offense that churns out efficient running backs will have him pushing for the RB1 overall thrown in the final month of the season. Expect him to stay hot in Week 14 versus the 49ers.

If the oline stays healthy, CMC should do well with Brock, based on how he played today. Better mobility than Jimmy, kept drives alive with good 3rd down play. Not a huge arm, but a good fit for the WCO per draft scouts. What is everyone’s thoughts on CMC with Purdy the QB rest of the way?
Christian McCaffrey played 82% of snaps in the 49ers' Week 13 win over the Dolphins.
With Elijah Mitchell out, one of the big questions in San Francisco was whether McCaffrey would continue playing roughly two-thirds of snaps, as he did in Weeks 10-12 or if he would return to the 80%+ snap share he saw in Week 8. As it turns out, he set a new high in snap share with the 49ers. Although his stock takes a hit due to Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending injury, along with the rest of the 49ers, McCaffrey's elite snap share is a positive sign for his ability to accumulate PPR value even with Brock Purdy at quarterback.

That between that and the Mitchell injury all that talk, that I was in large part driving, about CMC seeing a reduced role from what we are used to can now be thrown out the window. Now if they are blowing someone out I think they rest him but this just all means they have no choice but to ride him and hope he can stay upright. What is everyone’s thoughts on CMC with Purdy the QB rest of the way?
Assuming he stays healthy, can see yesterday's stat line being a typical outing for him, lots of short catches and receiving yards.

Have to say, I liked seeing him lined up at WR yesterday.
As you said, he will catch a lot of balls down the stretch.
They probably can't afford to play it safe and limit CMC's touches with Purdy starting.2nd highest output in a Niners uniform with Purdy as the QB
Christian McCaffrey (knee) practiced again on Thursday.
McCaffrey figures to remain "limited," but he already played through the issue last week. CMC's has somehow become even more important with Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) giving way to Brock Purdy. The seventh-round rookie funneled checkdowns McCaffrey's way in Week 13, and that will undoubtedly remain a theme vs. Tampa.
Dec 8, 2022, 5:09 PM ET
Christian McCaffrey rushed 14 times for 119 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Week 14 win over the Bucs, adding two receptions for 34 yards and an additional score.
McCaffrey's 153 yards from scrimmage were his most in seven games as a 49er, while the two-touchdown effort was his second in San Francisco. For McCaffrey's 27-yard receiving strike, he caught a Brock Purdy dime near the goal line and beat Jamel Dean in 1-on-1 coverage. On the ground, McCaffrey went right up the middle before shedding a tackle at the second level and making a 38-yard house call. The big effort came on an afternoon where Deebo Samuel suffered a potentially serious ankle injury. Samuel also scored on the ground before departing. At the very least, Samuel will miss Thursday's short-week date with the Seahawks. CMC will have a claim to RB1 overall status for that one.

Best draft spot I got this year was 4. He was gone early in every draft despite all the people supposedly avoiding him.Who else didn’t take him this year because he burned you last year?
I unexpectedly got him at the 4 spot this season. I had no intention of drafting him after having him last season but I did it anyway. He has not been not one of my draft day regrets.Best draft spot I got this year was 4. Christian McCaffrey rushed 26 times for 108 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Week 15 win over the Seahawks, adding six receptions for 30 additional yards.
With Deebo Samuel on the shelf with a high-ankle sprain, McCaffrey handled a season-high 32 touches. The 26 carries were eight more than he had seen in any of his first seven games as a 49er. The 100-yard day on the ground was his second straight. For the score, McCaffrey cashed in a one-yard carry late in the second quarter following a Travis Homer fumble. Frankly, it's surprising the Niners didn't give more work to backup Jordan Mason, though CMC now has nine days to rest up for a Christmas Eve date with the Commanders. He will remain in the mix for RB1 overall status in that one.

But assuming you win the #2 seed, it gets you hosting a game in round 2, and that's still pretty important, especially if seeding holds. You'd much rather host Minnesota than go there. What happens with CMC going forward? Division is wrapped up, what would San Fran have to gain in the coming weeks by overplaying CMC? Maybe they are interested in the 2-Seed but it doesn't get you out of the 1st round.
I disagree. It won't matter where they play the Vikings. I doubt CMC sees 32 touches in any game going forward, but I think 25 a week is a reasonable expectation. Something like 18-20 carries and 5-7 catches.

I expect about 15-18 touches each week moving forward. #49ers HC Kyle Shanahan makes clear they will pursue best seeding possible: "Our goal is to get into the tournament and we accomplished that today but now it’s all trying to set that up to be the best situation we can and hopefully get some of our guys back too in the process."
