Wow!

He missed a couple throws early, missing Jennings for an easy TD when he was late delivering the ball. Also missed Deebo wide open in the middle of the field, throwing a deep pass to Aiyuk instead. Good chance Deebo breaks a tackle or 4 on that play and takes it to the house. I love everything about this kid, and frankly, think he will only get better with playing time. Like that Shanahan trusts him way more than Jimmy and he will soon realize that hitting Deebo open 10 yards down the field is probably a 25-30 yard gain, if not a TD.

The scramble play that Aiyuk dropped was a thing of beauty. The way he faked the pass rusher and then ducked under him and delivered a perfect pass. Can't teach that.

Oh man....49ers vs Dallas.....

Gonna be fun!
If by fun you mean we post 30-40 points and CMac post 20+ ff pts and the game is decided in the early 3rd quarter*** then yes it will be fun.

*** Note, I say early 3rd quarter because the NFL will tell the 49ers to throttle down until after the half to keep the ratings up.

Dak Prescott, 143.4

Yeah, he was pretty great tonight. The best game I can remember seeing him play.

Which Dak will show up next week? Rooting for the Dak who led the league in picks :shades:

I think this game is close. Our DBs are playing like sh$t right now and the 49ers can be passed on if we don't get consistent pressure.
Agreed. Where I could clearly see a blowout of Seattle this one feels like it’s going to be close. The battle in the trenches will determine the outcome.

Two more 3rd rounders headed our way.

The #TitansView attachment 3396 hiring of Ran Carthon as GM means San Francisco will receive a third round compensatory pick in each of the next two drafts. Fourth time for SF, along with McDaniel, Saleh and Mayhew.

Saw it coming, but it happens when you have a successful franchise, people get poached. The picks are always welcome draft capital.

As long as Peters continues to hang around for the eventual GM gig it's all good.

Lynch isn't going anywhere for a while, hopefully Peters is still there when Lynch does decide to step down/move on.

Read an article by Kawakami on The Athletic talking about how there's a chance Lance might NOT be ready by OTAs.

Ummm What?

I read multiple articles after the injury (in Sept) about how it was a 12-16 week injury at the most. How wouldn't he be ready 8 months (32 weeks) later in May? I know he recently had a 2nd surgery to remove hardware, but that should have factored in to his recovery schedule.

I'd be shocked if he wasn't ready by mid May, but what do I know?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Lynch moved back to TV soon; he almost did last year. Peters refusing to interview else where suggests that he knows the job is coming to him in the foreseeable future.

Maybe, but I believe Lynch, at least for now. Maybe if they win it all he steps down, but if not, I think he stays at least one more year.

49ers GM John Lynch on departure speculation: "No, I'm good"

When news broke that San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters had turned down interview requests from the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals, it sparked speculation about the future of general manager John Lynch.

Does Peters see an opportunity to slip into the 49ers' general manager role? Is Lynch leaving? Remember, he flirted with Amazon last offseason (more accurate: Amazon flirted with him) about a potential return to the broadcast booth. The general manager opted to remain with San Francisco.

The concern over Lynch's future eventually reached the general manager.

"I just had somebody come in and say, 'Hey, man, is there something I should know?'" John Lynch told The Athletic's Tim Kawakami via a phone interview on Wednesday. "I said, 'What do you mean?' He said, 'I'm getting all these calls that, you know, people are inferring that you're leaving.' I was, like, 'No, I'm good.'"

On Thursday morning, Lynch confirmed that Peters had no intention of leaving the 49ers right now.

"Adam made a decision," Lynch said on KNBR's Murph & Mac show. "We had some discussions. He made a decision that he's really happy here, and that makes us happy. As a friend, there's only 32 of these jobs, and so when opportunities come up, you encourage people to go seek that opportunity. But when people are happy, and their families are happy, and they want to be somewhere, we're happy as well.

"I think we've got a really good environment, and we're focused on being successful right now, but I think people see long-term success and want to be here."

Peters was expected to be a hot name in general manager searches. However, turning down interviews may mean he plans to remain with San Francisco for the foreseeable future, possibly eventually replacing Lynch whenever the general manager feels his job is done. Lynch, a family man, has previously stated that he doesn't see himself in the role forever, after all.

For now, though, it looks like the 49ers will hold onto both Lynch and Peters.

Current 49ers 2023 draft:

1. 3rd-rd comp (Mayhew-Saleh)
2. 3rd-rd comp (McDaniel)
3. 3rd-rd comp (Carthon)
4. 5th-rd
5. 5th-rd (MIA, Wilson JR trade)
6. 5th-rd comp (DJ Jones)
7. 6th-rd comp (Arden Key)
8. 7th-rd
9. 7th-rd (DEN, Griffith trade)
10. 7th-rd comp (Mostert)
11. 7th-rd comp (K'Waun)

The 49ers are currently projected to have 11 draft picks in 2023. If DeMeco Ryans is hired this cycle, due to the cap on the comp pick rule, SF wouldn't get anymore in 2023. But they'd get one in 2025

I'd love to get Fangio back in the building as DC when Ryans leaves.

From NFL Now: The #Falcons are interviewing DC Vic Fangio today, and he'll have several interesting opportunities -- including potentially with the #49ers if DeMeco Ryans lands a job.

Ryans on becoming a HC "Im ready to go do it"

"For me, with the head-coaching thing it's like, 'Are you ready man?'" Ryans said. "Yeah, I'm ready to go do it. ... It'll be the first time. But I figured out everything else. I'm pretty sure I'll figure that out, too."

Ryans is scheduled to have interviews with the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans this week, and will presumably schedule interviews with the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts soon.

How do the 49ers keep getting those minority comp picks? They're in a class of their own. Those 3 late 3rd round picks have the value of the late 2nd rounder they gave up in the CMC trade. Or trade up in the 3rd round for a player who drops. Or just keep them and you could have multiple contributors who also help with the cap. I still think the Lance trade up was a mistake.

They’ve really exploited that new rule. The rest of the league should and probably will take note and do exactly what the rule was designed to promote. I think it’s been a fantastic idea.

One underrated hire by the 49ers is Anthony Lynn, who’s the RB coach & assistant HC.

I thought the Chargers were foolish to let him go, and the Niners run game has rarely looked better.

Hard to overestimate how important and talented the 49ers coaching staff has been - they arguably have 3 HC in Shanny, Lynn, & Ryans, but Kubiak has been great as well.

but yeah - I don’t see Lynn get a lot of love in these topics, and he absolutely deserves it.

I think the pre-CMC run game ranked really poorly - like below average.

Edit: rushing offense DVOA ranked 21 at mid season . 24th without McCaffrey.

Niner's fans. Hypothetical situation. Aaron Rogers goes on Pat's show and says..."I'd love to play for The Forty Niners"
Do you want him? If yes at what cost?

I say no, not because I think he’s completely washed or anything but because of what we recently spent on Lance and have seemed to have found in Purdy.

I don’t see any cost that would work. We have so many other players that need new contracts that were, in part, deemed possible due to paying the QB position much less than the league average.

The salary and draft pick compensation would both be prohibitive.

I love Ryans, and will hate to see him go. I hope for his sake he lands in a spot with a shot to succeed...Maybe Carolina? Or Denver with an ace OC/QB coach who can help Russ become decent again.

I went on a youtube kick and started watching old Cowboys-Niners playoff games, and now I'm upset about the 1992 NFCC all over again.

Also, rewatching the wild card game last year, I had forgotten/blocked out how bad Jimmy was. If Jimmy had been reasonably competent and the Cowboys hadn't gotten a couple of other breaks (4th down roughing the kicker and fake punt), that game would have been boring. Hopefully Purdy and SF have a cleaner game tomorrow.

Jimmy G possibly ready for NFC Champ or Super Bowl according to CBS.

Why would the Niners ever consider that? I guess as backup?

Watched last years game too. Jimmy so bad!! Actually gave me a confidence boost for this year.

Even though I knew the outcome of the game, I was still waiting for Jimmy to blow it.

Not looking ahead or anything, but Philly is gonna be TOUGH to beat at home.
Oh definitely. That was the only team on the NFC side that truly worried me heading into these Playoffs.
Hurts is a matchup nightmare for SF so seeing him healthy has been the biggest thing. Pasting the Giants in of itself doesn’t concern me because they aren’t very good (#21 DVOA).
