from my experience of sober lent, the weight doesn't really start to fall off until week 3-4.
This is helpful. It's only been like a week and a half but I haven't really been seeing any improvement in terms of my gut, and I was starting to get frustrated. I'll stay the course.from my experience of sober lent, the weight doesn't really start to fall off until week 3-4.
More importantly your liver and heart are thanking you, trust me brother. This is helpful. That's good to know. I'm not all that concerned with the weight loss, but I could stand to drop 20 pounds or so and I'm pretty sure the alcohol is the main culprit.from my experience of sober lent, the weight doesn't really start to fall off until week 3-4.
i would routinely lose between 12-18 pounds during lent, with the only change being no boozeThat's good to know. I can't fathom this unless all I drank was beer.i would routinely lose between 12-18 pounds during lent, with the only change being no boozeThat's good to know. Today was aGood god, did I have a day where I really wanted a drink. Made it over the hump, though.
How's everyone doing? Halfway there for most of you after we get through tomorrow (I'm a day behind).
props to those making it the whole month. i had to give into the sweet nectar after a couple weeks.
Yeah. You told us.i give you guys major props. you have more discipline than me. but damn, i was a bit stressed and after a few brews i honestly feel like a million bucks.props to those making it the whole month. i had to give into the sweet nectar after a couple weeks.Yeah. You told us.
It's THAT hard for you to go to the post office?!Good god, did I have a day where I really wanted a drink. Made it over the hump, though.

I'm starting to come around to this. I'm hoping to limit my binge drinking to fantasy drafts, family get togethers, and when the Cubs win the World Series. Not drinking is soooooooooo much better than drinking.
I had a few drinks last night., but I'm going to resume my attempts at no booze starting again todaygoing to see Jeff Ross on friday; this will be a challenge.

Such a bad day that I had to send Mr. krista instead. He got a tracking number, though, so I think he did it right.Wasn't really a fall off, but a more deliberate and carefully debated decision. That said, like someone said above, this is now a full on lifestyle change for us. We will only drink on special occasions. So Otis fell off the wagon first?
I don't think I'm going to be able to pull this off. I have 0 inclination to drink but my wife is going to pressure me to have one. Oh well I'll be booze free again starting tomorrow. Good luck all and thanks to SLB for starting this thread. It's been amazing to see how easy it really is to drop booze. I'm really glad I found this thread.I'm still booze free. Tonight is my valentines dinner with my wife but I don't think I'll be tempted. I was actually very tempted on Thursday but held strong. Anyways I'm going until the 26th and then I'll binge drink for a couple days. However, I think I'll start this back up in March.
Granted I've got a month on you guys but I've just found the urge disappears at this point. So is there anyone else who didn't fall off the wagon this week/weekend?![]()
This has been a good thread for me--thanks to SLB for coming up with the idea years ago. I was so tempted on Wednesday and Friday that I actually believe the thread is the only reason I didn't drink. I wouldn't have been too disappointed in myself as I feel like I've done well, but I wouldn't have wanted to have to report here that I didn't make it. Of course, now I see that I would have just been part of the crowd.![]()
At this point I don't see any reason not to stick it out. No way I'm going halfway and then giving in.
It's weird. I had one drink at dinner tonight and it was more out of guilt because I wanted to give my wife company on our first date since our baby was born. The old me would have gotten a second drink (and probably a 3rd). I just had no desire. I'm out of this challenge but it's definitely changed me. Great job to those who have stuck with this.So is there anyone else who didn't fall off the wagon this week/weekend?![]()

I love smoked sausage!Still going, but today might be difficult. The wife is out for the day and I have the smoker loaded up with some sausage. This will be the first time I can remember having the smoker going and not drinking beer. Almost seems unAmerican.
i'm still here.So is there anyone else who didn't fall off the wagon this week/weekend?![]()

We've been going out to dinner all the time now, and I just don't drink. It's not as fun, but there's zero chance I'm giving in. Enjoy the "fancy dinner" part and don't worry about the booze!i'm still here.So is there anyone else who didn't fall off the wagon this week/weekend?![]()
