Sober February (2 Viewers)

Did this in January and mid-September last year for  a month. One disappointment was the lack of lost weight, as I was hoping for the drop I have read about. Did not see anything of significance either time around and had even restarted an exercise program that I carried through most of the year.

Still always good to give the body a recharge.

Doing a "Biggest Loser" type of thing at work from 2/8 - 3/15 (6 weeks).  Perfect, after Super Bowl and just before my trip to Vega$ for March Madness.

I'll completely cut out beer, but I'll be damned if I don't have a few Vodka/sodas at my watering hole if I end up going out on a Friday/Saturday night during those 6 weeks.

Hell, I'll be off fast food for those weeks, I'm not about to kill myself 100%.  The weight will slide right off, just like it has in the past when I've cut out beer and fast food for any span.

Being an avid and extremely productive home brewer (30-45 gallons/month) it would be near impossible for me to undertake a sober month.   I do keep it to 1 or 2 days a week.  Does that count?

Yes, because moderation is sustainable.

I'm in.

I would claim a Super Bowl exemption, but my son is hosting, so no drinking an driving home. Instead, I'm going to consume 6,000 calories and kick-off a 5-day water fast afterwards.

5 days? Wow. Have you done that before? I want to try to do three or four days.

Is it true that after day 3 or so all sorts of nasty stuff starts coming out of you?
I have completed one five-day water fast. Had to build up to it - day and a half, three days, then five. I did not have any issues with the GI tract, but I'm sure YMMV applies here. After a day and a half, my pipes were clean as a whistle. Be sure to drink plenty of water (oddly, it's easy to get dehydrated on a water fast), and mind your sodium and potassium. Regularly pinching Himalayan pink salt worked for me.

I just completed a January 01 to February 01, 100% booze free month.  I'm quite proud of myself and frankly surprised it was not as bad as I thought.  Hardest time was out to dinner with friends.  Other than that, not as crushing as I've been building it up in my head forever.  This coming from a guy that has 3-4 bourbons nightly and hasn't had a completely dry month in at least 25 years.  Good luck everyone, I'm on my way to a bar!

I'm going to go the rest of February without it after the Super Bowl.  I'm hosting a party and three of my best friends are coming into town for this.  The guest of honor was recently diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer and he isn't going to live very long.  I don't think I can make it Sunday without some booze.  But after that, I am going to try to go a month without alcohol.  Hoping this thread keeps me accountable.

I'm going to go from after the Super Bowl until St. Patrick's Day, with occasional breaks for Valentine's Day and maybe a work trip.  Don't judge me.

Turns out the deal started today, so no beer for Super Bowl.  Wasn't going to do much anyways.

Vodka for the next 6 weeks.

Whenever I take extended breaks for alcohol and crave sugar.  Especially while on a keto diet, cutting out alcohol on top made me day dream about cookies & ice cream.

1st 24 hours just about in the books. Couple of buddies asked me to meet them at our local bar after work and I did. Had two club sodas with lime. Bartender there knows my intentions and told me she wouldn't serve me any beer this month so I have a helper I guess.  Came home and poured myself a nice glass of Kambucha.  Now on to water.

Only one day so plenty of room for error, but I suppose it's a start.  Tons of leftover beer from the party yesterday - no temptation to crack one.

This has been Kige Malaise for YouTube sobriety.

Yeah definitely craving sugar and chocolate.  First few days I've had some restless sleep.  I had a good workout after work so hoping I catch some solid Z's tonight.

Four days down, no problemo, unless Nyquil counts against.  Been dealing with the crud for a few days.  Also nearing 36 hour mark of water fast.  Feeling kind of slim.

Getting past the second weekend will be the most difficult leg, because I know the mind will want to reward itself for being good the first week.

Damnit I wanted to do this but forgot.  And I drank a lot this weekend.  Too late to join???

C'mon GB, you got this!  I'm going to push mine into the first part of March to make up for SB Weekend.

I don't really remember my dreams often, but last night, absent a drop of booze, I had very lucid dreams coupled with a very deep sleep that was hard to wake up from.  Can't say I like that very much.

I'm in.  I probably haven't gone longer than 5-6 days without the sauce in 15 years.

What's the strategy here for that ever so tempting happy hour time during the weekend?  I can breeze through the work week, but need something to occupy my time from 4-8 Friday through Sunday.

So i blew this on Friday night.. yes, on the 1st... date night with the wife. I have hadn't had a drop since, including the SB and day one of a business trip. :)

Lots of new and familiar faces this year.   Super Bowl exemption is in the OP I believe.  That's one of the funnest days of the year and this year didn't disappoint.  Pretty happy how the game turned out and pretty close to the 3-2 New England final I was hoping for.

My first test is a party Friday night.  At the casino.

Just made an appointment with my doc who wouldn't give me another refill on my cholesterol drugs unless I made an appointment.  It's for the 8th of March, so there's my new target date.  Maybe a month + off will help with cholesterol too?  Can't hurt, I suppose.

I did have a homemade chili burger last night, so I don't think I'm going the right direction with food.  :porked:

That's my target date too.  Started taking 10mg of Zetia with my 10mg of Lipitor and cholesterol last year and numbers have been in line ever since.  Stupid genes.

I'm back in this year.  If GM can do it with his 8 kids, I can do it with my 3.  Giving myself an exemption this saturday (6 year olds birthday party, house full of my in laws and screaming kids).

In. Started monday after Superbowl. In past I've been able to reduce intake to once every other week or so. I need to stay away from chilling with the TV. Typical time for me to get a glass out and fill it with frosty good-ness.

Made it through Monday fine. Yesterday afternoon I thought 'Ah! what the hell? Let's go for it again"

Then 1/2 way through my 2nd beer with dinner last night I remembered that I wasn't supposed to be drinking.

I am in.  On day 6.  First Super Bowl I can remember not pounding beers from 4pm on.

I usually work out every morning but now have added a evening workout..something light just to keep me from wanting to hit a happy hour.

Seems like this would be pretty easy if we can have exemptions...
You mean like everyone who is doing a sober "February" but not starting till after the Super Bowl?  I said I am giving myself one day.  Pretty sure one day of drinking is better than an entire month.  Also, you haven't meet my MIL or been in the same house as her and my wife.
