STAR WARS: Episode 7 (All-Time #1 opening box office.) (1 Viewer)

So how was the attendance?

I had tickets to the 12 showing but was able to sneak into the 10 showing because it was only 1/3 full......
The 7:00 show I went to was about 90-95% full. A co-worker went to the 7:15 show and it was less than 1/2 full. Small town, so YMMV.

Loved it.

Just my opinion, but if your kids haven't seen the other episodes, let this be their first Star Wars experience.

My son (age 5) is super excited and keeps asking when we are going to the movie, plays with nothing but Star Wars toys, and basically wears Star Wars clothes and pajamas all day every day, but I can't get him to sit and watch any of the old movies for more than maybe 10 minutes. So I guess what I'm saying is I like this post. I should probably go hit that like button.

Having to turn off sports radio. A couple of close calls with people blurting out the plot. Plus the hosts are meatheads that act like Star wars is reserved for nerds in their moms basement.

The main reason I wanted to see it early was because I knew it would be nearly impossible to avoid the spoilers.

Which sports casters?

Surprised they are releasing two movies within 6 months of each other. I wonder if they push 8 back a bit.

I think rogue one will do ok at the box office but 8 will smash.

IMO:

1. Empire

2. Force awakens (might get up to 1)

3. New hope

4. Jedi

5. Sith

6. Clones

7. Phantom

I would be floored if any of these new Disney movies fall below sith.

This thread has been mind blowing for me. Apparently the fancy, reserved seat, cocktails, waitress service movie theaters are all over the place, but there's nothing like this anywhere close to my house. The best I've found is a single theater an hour from my house that has reserved stadium seating up front.

This is infuriating. I would gladly pay 40 or 50 bucks a ticket for a high end theater with no riff raff and tons of amenities. Why doesn't this exist here? FML
And you live in NYC, the alleged cultural center of America?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
He's lives in Long Island, IIRC.

Distinction without a difference.

Wow so I guess I'm behind the times....they're releasing two "anthology" movies along with 7 and 8?!?

I see one is about a young Han Solo, anyone know about the other?

The first one next December is "Rogue One". About the mission to steal the original Death Star plans. Starring many bothans, I assume.

The best part about it was my 14yo being absolutely giddy leaving the theater last night. Gives us something in common to talk about and enjoy together. (stepson who is not my biggest fan) Appreciated it a little extra for that, thanks JJ.

24 hours to go for our viewing. Looking forward to it.

Asked my oldest this morning if he was excited.. "Yeah, I guess." Well, do you want to watch any of them tonight and stay up late so we can have it fresh in our mind. "Um, no dad." Well, do you remember all the other movies? "Yeah, dad. My brain works." Ok then, how did Jedi end? "Luke killed his father after Vader threw the old guy off the platform and then there was a dancing party in a jungle." You know, I am your father. "Yeah, I know, can I go to school now?"

I even did the whole reaching out to him in the Vader voice thing with that last line and I got nothing. I don't think he understands how cool this is.

You suck at parenting. Sorry to have to break this to you.

Rumor is Boba Fett
It's Solo. They did a casting call for him. There may be a Fett movie in the future.
The breakdown I have seen is Rogue One, then VIII, then Solo, then IX, then Boba Fett
Is Abrams directing all of them? If not, who are the directors?

As far as I know he is not directing the one-offs.

Saw someone being a #### on facebook, clicked the profile to see who it was...most recent post was a Star Wars TFA spoiler meme. I'm bitter because my tix are for tonight, haven't seen it yet. Be careful out there if you haven't seen it yet.

Just got back 12:00 o'clock show non IMAX theatre was half full.

I put this one right up there with Empire and A New Hope.

You could easily rank it higher as the dialogue and directing are top notch.

Seeing it after work.

Passed by the theater last night on the way to a party... there was a line from the theater down and around the block- longest I've ever seen in Manhattan.

The people I'm seeing it with wanted to meet for drinks and dinner first... 9:15 show, meeting at 6. Given the line last night, I have a feeling we'll need to get that dinner (and flasks) to go.

Not very often a movie, ANY movie lives up to the hype, but this one seems to be doing just that. Mad props to Abrams for pulling it off.

Decided to go earlier than planned, gonna see the 4:30 show...time to pack the one-hitter and get ready!

Saw it last night, crowded, noisy. I want to see again with a quieter crowd. Movie's great

I'd say it's a solid #3. It's isn't better than ANH or ESB but it's a solid addition to the story. For any who are still hedging because of experiences from EPs 1-3 you have no worries.

About to leave to see it now. Going again with wife on Monday. Had to see it alone the first time so I won't scream at my wife for asking dumb questions on the first watch through.

Off to dinner, drinks and then the movie. Thanks to everyone for keeping this a spoiler free refuge in the dark evil that is the internet.

My kids are going to freak out when they watch this tomorrow morning.

10 year old kid sitting behind me HATED the move and was absolutely pissed off about something that happened in it.

I know i was. I was pretty pissed about what I'm sure you were taking about.

My youngest son sold over (A LOT) $600 of popcorn for the Scouts so he "won" two tickets to a private screening tomorrow. Can't wait. Needless to say, he rules. He would ask people to buy popcorn and if they said "no" he would sheepishly say something like "oh I thought you liked America" then they almost always bought.

I'm picturing a young Randy Marsh with the "Oh I'm sorry, I thought this was 'Merica!"

Weir right?

(ps ... I'm not sure a Michelob light and pretzel dip while watching "Jurassic World" is really what a "cultural center" is all about -- it turns out we have Broadway and every museum that ever mattered -- but I'm still surprised the NYC area doesn't have this yet).
