Steven Jackson - Questionable (1 Viewer)

John Clayton says "Should be back and effective. Maybe not full workload, 16-17 touches, but should be effective because he's getting the explosion back that was missing after the injury".

It's getting late, and I need the help, so I'll ask here

Can/Should I play SJax over Portis this week?

Man I hate to hear those words.Alright, have an hour to decide on this wuss or Fargas

nope, Portis and Skins are fired up, honoring Taylor, its a home game, and it has HUGE implications for their playoff hopes. No way I bench Portis for S-Jax today.

Thanks guys, this was the route I was taking.......I just needed a little nudge.

Lets hope it works out, and I can play S Jax next week :banned:

any updates on how he felt after the game? Anyone actually see him play? Stats look pretty good, wondering how he'll respond in the next few days.

ETA:

Steven Jackson carried 21 times for 94 yards and caught a 16-yard pass in the Rams' Week 13 loss, but was replaced late in the game by Antonio Pittman.

S-Jax looked spry and explosive in the first half, but perhaps having to go to the locker room stiffened up his thigh. While he played in the third quarter, he was mostly ineffective and Pittman finished up in unproductive fashion. It will be worth checking Wednesday's practice report to see if Jackson had a setback. The Rams play the Cardinals in Week 14.

Yeah I was trying to find anything I can about his status since the FF playoffs start next week and I need him. . .According to a message on a Rams' fan forum (who knew?):"It is now being reported that Haslett pulled him because he thought he was gassed. Jackson says this is not the case and he is tired of hearing things like this being said about him. Apparently, SJ wanted to be in there, but it was a coach's decision ...." Of course, there is no source so guess we'll just have to wait and see. But if (IF) that's accurate, at least it doesn't sound like he aggravated the leg injury.

I was flipping around on the NFL ticket and did watch S Jax run a few plays...he looked good. He did, however, have a couple runs that really looked like he was favoring that leg after halftime. Seemed to maybe stiffen up on him and didn't look like he could bend it all the way. But I didn't watch the whole game.

Jackson said his injured thigh didn't feel any worse on Monday than it did going into the game against the Dolphins on Sunday, the Post-Dispatch reports.

Spin: That's good news for Jackson owners who were crossing their fingers that he didn't suffer any setbacks to his strained quad. As long as he can get through the week of practice there's no reason to think he won't be in the lineup in Week 14 against Arizona.

This is coming together exactly like I needed it to for my one league. I have been struggling filling the RB2 hole for weeks now. I got lucky in week 12 with Pierre Thomas, but having SJax seemingly back at a time when his schedule should be full of soft defenses for my fantasy playoffs could be a lifesaver.

Against a pretty good def, and only 1 carry in the fourth qtr...he had a great day. I think he'll be money in the next 3 wks if he can stay healthy.

He almost went for 100 yards pretty easily, hopefully he can get a slightly larger workload and rack up some more yards, I like him as a solid #2 RB for the playoffs with a huge upside.

I think that is an accurate assessment of his value over the next few weeks. Included in the upside is SJax being more involved in the passing game with screen passes.

Seeing him out there again on Sunday, really reminds you of how awesome this guy really is. I think with all the injuries and how bad the Rams have been the last 2 years, its easy to forget. He really is a phenomenal talent.

Solid #2RB? This guy is a 1st round talent and put up very good numbers when he was healthy. I see him as one of the highest scoring RBs over the next 3 weeks...barring a setback.

The problem/concern is not Jackson, it's the Rams. One TD in the last 4 games. They have to find a way to get near the endzone for SJ to get some TDs. or at best he might get 120-140 combined yards/game. The only hope is that week 15,16 are at home and Sea and SF are not all that great. If Bulger and Green keepturning the ball over 3-4 times a game that is going to seriously limit SJ fantasy numbers.

I agree. SJax definitely has a large upside, but the QB play from the Rams has been absolutely horrendous this year (compared to last year, for example, when SJax was injured for many games). Since things are a little bit different for the Rams this season, I have to agree with Hue G that I can only really consider SJax a solid RB#2 option at this point. He could clearly be the guy for which Deuce's Wild is hopeful, but that is certainly not a sure thing right now.

What's teh consensus on SJax? Are people rolling the dice and starting him? Over who?

I'm on the fence between him and Slaton.

I have him in, but don't think I would over Slaton. I have him over Cotchery, Avery, Walter, JLewis, much easier decision for me.

Yeah, same here. I've got Slaton in there in place of SJAX for RB2. They're both looking at a solid 15-20 touches, but I feel much more confident in the Texans scoring 20+ points and keeping the game close (Rams could likely score <10 points again). Also, Slaton's backup is less likely to play a large role (Moats vs. Pittman). Plus Slaton was a big reason I made the playoffs with last week's performance ...

I an starting Hillis and Jacobs ove Sjax. i just don't trust him or the Rams offense yet and Jacbos is hard to sit especially when health in a division game. Hillis's matchup is just too good. I have been burned a few times this year with injured running backs not making it through the game and in the first round of the playoffs I need a safe bet.

Participated in full at yesterday's practice. Upgraded to probable. SportingNews digital paper this morning said that his thigh is becoming less of an issue and is practicing/playing at full speed. Finally!

Maybe Haslett will actually let him play in the fourth quarter!

Starting SJax over Hillis.

Last week Rush/Rec Yds

SJax 110 1 catch

Hilis 129 1 TD

Struggling offenses, good matchups, SJax reported to get a bigger load...

I think the odds that SJax can make up the difference are good.
