Summerpalooza VI: Return of the Rock Bands - And they say "He's in the Class A Team" (2 Viewers)

4.05 - Trevor Lawrence - Jaguars

Walt Dickerson Quartet - Theme from Lawrence of Arabia

This is the only league I play in anymore so I have no idea if drafting QBs early is becoming a thing but Lawrence is the 8th QB taken in 47 picks. I don't love the pick but I didn't want to sift through the leftovers next time around.

Walt Dickerson was a vibraphone player in the early 60s who had a bit of success and then drifted into anonymity after Rock 'n Roll became dominant. In 1963, he recorded an album of Jazz impressions of the soundtrack to Lawrence of Arabia which works better that you'd think.

@Doug B

My father sent me to old Rutgers,
And resolv'd that I should be a man;
And so I settled down,
In that noisy college town,
On the banks of the old Raritan.

Chorus:
On the banks of the old Raritan, my boys,
where old Rutgers ever more shall stand,
For has she not stood since the time of the flood,
On the banks of the old Raritan.

Ahhh those were the days! I love Isiah. Why didn't we draft him??

The Hoodoo Guru select 4.7 Kenneth Walker RB Seattle

Song Deacon Blues Steely Dan

Also for giggles:

4.8 Garrett Wilson

Too many Jets already

Why not stick with local Ohio friends of Greg Dulli, this time Columbus' Howlin' Maggie with I'm A Slut

@landrys hat
Don't feel bad because I was the first to do it but Wilson was already taken. Pick again.

YEAH he WAAS!!!! :eek::clap:
Feel like I had some sort of weird mental block because I really scoured the list, thinking he must have slipped to me. Gotta focus dag nabbit… paperwork :thumbdown:

🏈 Drake London, WR Hotlanta 🏈

... last of the true undisputed ALPHA #1 wrs left, in terms of forecasted target share, with virtually ZERO comp in the wr room.

- but Piits. and Arty's wishbone mentality 😅 only reasons he's available mid 4th - kid is a legit baller, and built rapport with Ridder during Pitt's downtime last szn.

London Boys - Johnny Thunders

you weren't expecting a friggin' DRAKE tune, were ya?
:lmao:

@dkp993

tip o'the fauxhawk, Rock

btw- Thunders had Cookie and Jonesy backing him on that one, along with Phil Lynot on bass - superest of souper groops? 🤔

re: Akers ... dood ripped a few c-notes to close out '22, on what were a pathetic offense (no Staff/Kupp), and the o-line were atrocious.

from almost being cut mid szn, to requesting a trade, to ripping off a solid finish ... the most bizarre arc in the leeg.

4.13 - T.J. HOCKENSON - TE - MIN
Another one that I wasn't really planning on, but feels like the best move. I was thinking about some of the prior players taken, so I was looking California, but now I'm feeling Minnesota. Also, I was trying to google Hock to check on some stuff, but this computer I'm on is using Bing for some reason, and it tried to enhance my search with some AI. It included this query:

Searching for: is tj hockenson the best tight end in nfl history?

T.J. Hockenson is a talented tight end who has been named to the Pro Bowl twice in 2020 and 2022. However, it is difficult to say whether he is the best tight end in NFL history. There have been many great tight ends throughout NFL history such as Tony Gonzalez, Shannon Sharpe, and Rob Gronkowski.

So, it is difficult to say whether he is the best tight end in NFL history, but it seems like it is possible.

OUTSHINED - SOUNDGARDEN

Sorry for the delay, folks. I didn't get the notification for some reason. Maybe a bit of a reach, but he likely wasn't coming back around.

weird, I didn't get a notification. Will need a little bit since all you jerks took most of the players in my queue...

Maybe we should be PMing next up for the time being. Not that it's a huge rush.
I wonder id it’s my @‘ing doing it as both said they didn’t get mine… strange.

RachAAd "Double A" White, RB Buccos

🏈 loved what i saw outta this fella last szn, especially in the passing game - seems to have the trust of that CS, so let's snag a rd 5 workhorse, why don't we 🏈

☆started his college career at lil' old University of Nebraska at Kearney ... speaking of Nebraska intelligentsia, these two fizzbos were of that ilk, kinda/sorta☆

I will take Christian Watson

Hard to find a song for a guy who plays for Green Bay and went to ND State, how about Doc Watson - Sitting On Top Of The World

Christian run, keep it going @Truebluey
Was holding out faint hope he would fall to me.

You and me both. Wasn't that faint a hope either - the cup was literally snatched from my lips.

Not crazy about this pick, but as a WR 3 I guess I can't complain.

With pick 5.8, the Hoodoo Guru select D'Andre Hopkins, WR, TEN

SONG: Enola Gay
Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark

I’m color blind and can’t see the pick at all.

So now I'm fascinated. I'm color blind also, so I've studied up on it to find ways to compensate. But there are no colors I can't "see". The only problem is if folks choose a confounding background color (like red on a green background). But I didn't think white was a confounding color for any color. So I want to learn more about your particular colorblindness. I assume it is not deuteranopia.

I have the black background. I don’t like the white background here. Very dark colors on a black background, I can’t see. I had to zoom in on my phone as extreme as I could to make out your pick.

I have the less common of the two main types of color blindness. The medical folks call it “yellow-blue.” What it really means is I can’t tell when red has been added to something. So I difficulty with blue vs purple, green vs brown, orange vs yellow, etc. I can tell red and green apart.

5.10 - J.K. Dobbins - RB - Ravens

Keith Jarrett Trio - "Bye Bye Blackbird"

I guess my fears didn't materialize about a QB tier getting wiped out before my next pick. Fortunately one of the RBs I was considering at 4.05 made it back around. Dobbins came off the PUP list today so at least he has that over my other RB.

Keith Jarrett and his Standards Trio recorded this version of "Bye Bye Blackbird" as a tribute to Miles Davis shortly after his death in 1991. Jarrett was a big favorite of wikkidpissah.
