Dalton Schultz caught all five of his targets for 49 yards in the Cowboys' Week 7 win over the Lions.

It was Schultz's best game since Week 1, but that's not saying much, as he's been injured much of the last few weeks with a PCL injury. He appeared to aggravate it again Sunday, but a limping Schultz played through the issue. He doesn't look close to 100 percent, but Schultz should rack up catches from Dak Prescott, putting him on the back end of the TE1 map ahead of a Week 8 date against the Bears.

Limited in practice today
This is twice (at least) he’s aggravated his PCL now
Just the epitome of a roster clogger - too good to cut, not reliable enough to start
Bad matchups Wk8 & WK10 (5th fewest and 3rd fewest FF pts allowed to TEs), bye week in between
Decent schedule most weeks 11-17 but what a floater

I'm still holding -- playing Knox this week

he ran 14 routes Sunday
now the same knee is hurt - again - and it just seems like he'll either manage pain or get shut down at some point
it ain't happening for him this year
IMO
I get the bet; you're betting on the offense, the QB, the other options in the passing game.
routes run by WK (bare minimum for a Top 12 TE is 23:
- 44
- 24 (no Dak)
- DNP
- 23 (no Dak)
- 6 (only played 9 snaps)
- DNP
- 14
Last season he averaged 28.94 RR per game.
If you're an optimist you could say he's averaging 29.00 in games Dak plays. /s
I'm playing TE roulette ROS with Dulcich and Engram. They average 27.86 and 29.00 rr per game. Worse QB, worse offense, and neither is a Top 2 target on their own team. I've streamed TEs in the past and it's about as much fun as a root canal. Ying yang pairings aren't any easier, no doubt I'll pick the wrong one 1/3rd of the time.
But the best ability is availability, and I'm done with checking practice reports; no more guessing if this is the week Schultz will be a GTD again. Happy to rid my team of a roster clogger.
“And I could hear that old Negro spiritual once more crying out: ‘Free at last, free at last, Great God Almighty, I’m free at last.’ ”
IME injury plagued seasons don't morph into upside. Hope I'm wrong, I like Schultz a lot when he's healthy. This year, he's not.
