So I was just watching some ESPN clips and apparently now we have to also beat the Pats to prove we are for real. What's next suit up the 72 Dolphins? Geesh.
As I said before....all the boxes had been checked and I fully expected more boxes to be added....that's what they do. I hope the team takes it as a challenge.
The box that needs to be checked is the playoff box. Doesn't matter if they win or lose next Monday on the road to checking that box. Of course a win would make it easier.
1. Seattle 9-1: 2 game cushion and an easy schedule. 4 homes games to 2 road games.
2. New Orleans 7-2: They play Seattle on the road so there's hope of catching them. That said, they have the conference tiebreaker record so we would likely have to sweep them to win the division.
3. Detroit 6-3: Just putting them here as a place holder. Chicago and Green Bay both one game back.
4. NFC East winner: There won't be a wildcard from the group.
That leaves 2 wildcard spots.
Carolina 6-3: Is in the driver's seat. 6-2 in conference.
SF 6-3: Carolina has the tiebreaker over them unless we get into a 3 way. 3-2 in conference.
Chicago 5-4: Beat GB head to head, one game remaining between the two. 3-4 in conference.
GB 5-4: 3-3 in conference
Arizona 5-4: 4-4 in conference
SF plays at NO this week. Assuming a NO win and a Carolina loss and Chi/GB/Ari all win, we'll have a 5 way tie and the best conference record.
I think wins against Tampa, Atlanta, Miami, and NYJ are enough to get to the post season. Slip up in one of these games and we'll need a win against NE or NOx2 to make it.
