****The 2019 Carolina Panthers Thread**** We Rhule At Losing (1 Viewer)

I would have loved to see Kamara and CMC here. Was really hoping we would pick Kamara from the outset.
That would have made for a very fresh and athletic backfield.  And there'd be room for CAP as well.  Kamara (and that defense they have now) is a major reason for the Saints' success this season.

Hopefully the coaching staff will remind themselves this is a business. You put the player on the field that gives you the best chance to win. Stewart has slowed down, and it doesn't make since for him to be leading the pack anymore. CAP and McCaffrey need to be given more chances. The season is half over, and it is apparent that Stewart's 10 years of playing RB has taken its toll on his body. He can be useful on the sideline coaching up the other backs, and to fill in now and then. Maybe they will make some adjustments after the bye. Who knows.
Yeah the role I see Stew in is few touches in situational places. Time to pass the baton.

Him and CMC in the backfield would keep defenses guessing. You could do so much with them.

So that was a fairly decent game. I kid of course hard to ask for much more. Defense wants some plays back but overall nice statement in front of a national audience. And Stew looked a lot better than he has in a long time. Was it a one off or is this what we should expect? Miami was the number 10 defense and number 7 against the run so not like they were bums he was running on. Guess we'll see. Fun continues to break out. I think one thing has become clear the last 3 weeks stop worrying about injury and let Cam be Cam. It may mean a shorter career but it will mean a better career for however long it lasts which means more success for this team. Start looking for a young guy who can come in and grow in the system while Cam does his thing.

So we go into the bye 7-3. Not bad. We come out with a winnable game waiting and if all goes well one of the best tight ends in the NFL back. Hopefully everyone gets some healing in just in time for the sprint to the end. Got a real shot at making some post season noise. We seem to be pulling it together at just the right time. Dare we start thinking big?

Olsen is going to be in the booth calling the Vikings game this weekend. Vikes weren't happy but network said to bad. NFL said they were fine with it. Greg won't be attending any practices or doing any pregame work. Just going to be doing color. Preparing for after football it seems.

Great game and fun to watch.  Agreed that they need to let Cam be Cam.  He's too good not use all his tools.

Funchess is looking good in the lead WR role, but that double block by CMC on Fun's bubble screen TD was remarkable.  And he made his rushing TD look easy on the cut back.

Will be great getting Olsen back and the looming game in NO is going to be huge.

Yeah I've seen people saying CMC is heading toward bust but that's crap. The guy does a lot, like those blocks, that doesn't show in a box score. And he now holds the record for most receiving yards in a season by an RB on this team. They are just starting to figure out how to use him. With the unfortunate injury to Samuel I think he will get even more chances to produce. I don't see a bust at all.

They are finally wising up and listening to me.

The play was amazing.  Been awhile since I've seen some make two great blocks on the same play.

Well, wasn't pretty but a win is a win.  Amazing how the offense can look so good one week then like a division 2 college team another.  Did Cam practice at all during the two weeks off?  Looked so rusty.

Nice punt return by Clay and another good performance by the defense.

Good news that Olsen's x-rays were negative.

Painful game to watch.  We have no shot in the playoffs.

I'm pessimistic about playoff success too.  We need a WR who can give immediate impact.  Would have been nice to have Ginn with Benjamin gone.
Gina will be back next year.  3m salary plus .5m roster bonus.  Only costs 2m to cut him.  They have to sign Brees.

Oh, to have gotten Kamara in the second round when we had two chances..   :kicksrock:    This team would have a different dynamic.

There are just no play makers at WR.  Funchess has developed a bit, but where is anyone else?  anyone.

Got jobbed a little by the refs yesterday, but we just don't match up well against NO this year.

Kalil at LT...  good grief.

This frustrated me from draft day ... I like CMC just fine, but I didn't like investing the 8th pick in the draft to get him.  Not when Foreman and Kamara were widely projected to be 2nd or 3rd rounders.  The biggest gripe I had with Gettleman was completely ignoring the OL.  While there wasn't an OL worth the 8th pick in the draft, they could've easily traded back (given the QB frenzy) and targeted one later in the first -- or they could've addressed other needs.  Then pick up Kamara or Foreman in the 2nd or 3rd.

Football Outsiders has the Carolina Line 26th in adjusted line yards in the running game and 21st in adjusted sack rate (which Cam probably helps that stat from being much worse).

My fear coming out of all of this is that Carolina's going to make the playoffs, maybe get hot and make a little run (win a playoff game or two), and then JR is going to remove the interim tag from Hurney without even conducting a GM search.

This sounds absolutely horrible, but in a season where I don't think they have the goods to win it all, I hope they miss the playoffs if that's the catalyst for finding another good GM.  I don't want to watch Hurney drive this bus off the cliff again for the next decade.

I like CMC just fine as well, but never thought he would be the replacement for Stewart.  With Kamara (or Foreman) back there, CMC would be free to line up in backfield or slot and not have to worry about carrying the ball too much between the tackles.  He is a monster in the flat or across the middle as a receiver.  Stew runs hard but he's just lost steps and his days are numbered.

I didn't mind the Moton pick as he may turn out to be a good lineman.  But I hated the Samuels pick all day long.  Hated it.

It isn't horrible at all.  And I agree 100% on Hurney.  I think this week's game against Minnesota will give us a good idea of how we stack up against playoff teams.  We already know we don't match up that well against NO.  We have Minny, GB (probably with Rodgers), TB and ATL coming up.  Not sure we are going to get that WC spot.  Part of me hopes we don't for the reasons you mentioned.

Now that Reese and McAdoo are both canned in NY, I wonder what the odds are that they hire GMan to head their front office.  Ernie Accorsi led JR to Gettleman when he was hired here, and I would imagine Accorsi still has some pull within the NYG front office.  Gettleman was Executive of the Year in Carolina ... can't imagine he won't find a new job if he wants one, and why not go back to the place where he was the director of pro personnel for so long?

Nice win for the cats!
Huge win.  Needed that as we lost ground to our closest pursuers for the wildcard fro a tie break standpoint.

The crowd was amazing.  After the Vikings scored to tie it up, the keeping pounding chant was drowning out the announcers on TV.  Stewart looked reborn and that leap into the end zone was unreal.  He out jumped most of the guys on the Hornets.  Back to the read option.  Cam is a magician with the ball.

I hope the Panthers go as far as they can, and try to knock as many teams out as possible. JR already knows if he is going to hunt for a new GM or not, we just don't know. I would like to have a new GM that can bring their own stamp to the team, but if they stick with Hurney, I will give him a chance. I'd rather take the positive route than the negative. The negative route is such a drag to go down, and sometimes people can do good things with second chances.

Lots of rumors that is the plan. And there have been rumors he wants Wilks as his HC.

PFF has Williams as the fourth best RT overall this season. He's been overshadowed by all the attention on Kalil. If I read correctly he hasn't allowed a sack in six games and only allowed one pressure against the Vikes last week. We are inching ever closer to a young top flight line.

If only LT had the same level of performance. I also don’t know the succession plan at C (rather how Kalil’s replacements have played this year), but that’s excellent news on Williams.

Perhaps Moton solves LT one day. Or Williams kicks to the left and Moton handles RT. Or Matt Kalil steps up the consistency and performance.

I like the aggressiveness of Wilks late in the game Sunday.  Screw the preventive defense.  Blitz, blitz, blitz.

Huge play by Cam.  The 4 previous possessions without a first down wasn't very encouraging, though. Panthers should go after Amari Cooper.  Change of scenery would probably do wonders for him as well.  Cam needs another wideout.

Are we not going to talk about Richardson in here?  Kindof a big story all things considered especially when he has announced he is selling the team when he dies.

Hasn't been much to discuss. No one is saying what happened or who is involved. Until we have more to go on we would just be making stuff up. Once there are more details more than willing to talk about it.
