The Inauguration (2 Viewers)

Melania is thanking God there's only 3 inaug balls v the 10 or so the Obamas and Bushs had.  2 more times of having to do that dance that reminds her of the first dance of their wedding- probably one she would love to forget..

I'm going with Hardingesque with Peronist undertones but go on...
Nationalist.  Can't wait to upend the international order.  America First.  We're protected by God.  Everybody bleeds the same color.  Crushing Radical Islamic Terrorism forever.

As a small-c conservative, I hate all of this.
What struck me about the way Trump invoked "God" is that it seemed dispassionate and detached. He did not acknowledge God's supremacy over him as a person. He did not worship or express devotion of any kind.

For example, George H.W. Bush said "God's love is boundless"; Reagan said that Inauguration Day should be a "day of prayer"; Nixon said "I have taken an oath in the presence of God" (which was a pretty big deal at the time, since Nixon was a Quaker); Eisenhower actually said a prayer during his inaugural speech.

But Trump? His references to God seemed very secular in nature. Like he was just saying 'God' so he could check off the box (something that many have accused Obama of doing, myself included).

And I don't mind if a President is a secularist; just don't invoke "God" as a pandering device. At best, it looks disingenuous; at worst, it looks like a cult-of-personality recruiting tool.

They could only find 3 Frank Sinatra covers. My lady friend from Peru is still waiting for them to dance.

Well she's not coming until May when Baron gets out of school.  This is not a traditional White House family, they have resources and a lifestyle that does not jive with low rent Pennsylvania Avenue.  Her primary concern is being a mother and raising her kid right, so if she stays in NYC and Baron stays in his school it wouldn't be a surprise.  It's not even an hour flight to DC, she can come in for the weekends or whatever and I suspect Trump will be in NYC a lot himself.  I have no issue with any of it as long as he is there to be the executive of the nation.
I have it on fairly reliable intel that the decision to stay in NYC long term has already been made and has played a large part in the massive permanent security infrastructure around trump tower. Baron is a special needs kid and Melania has no intention of moving him away from his school ever.

I didn't know that.  Makes sense to stay put, it's not like me or you being separated from a wife or girlfriend.  We can't just send a plane to pick them up for a night and return them three hours later.  I mean rich dudes work hard to get rich to have these advantages, might as well take advantage of them.  Oh, and he's the president too!

I don't think it's ever been confirmed but it's been rumored he has autism. The rumor has been supported by two separate sources who would know.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Oh,  and Mexican immigrants and Muslims and criminals from the inner city. And the media.

But other than that, fear itself.
And later in his Presidency, the Nazis and the Japanese

Then he started to fear Japanese-Americans

His second act was to make it more expensive to buy a home. And to think he isn't even going to start trying until Monday.
On this.....   It was something enacted like ten days ago and was to go in effect next Friday the 27th.  FHA mortgage insurance was being reduced by 0.25%.

I have a buyer client that was scheduled to close on the Monday the 23rd, but last week the lender told them about this and we asked for an extension to Friday so they could get the lower insurance/payment.  The seller drove my buyers crazy by taking five days to sign the extension and we got it yesterday.  And now today he lost the reduction.  He was posting all day on FB today for Trump LOL.  His payment was going down about $40/mo on a $173k home.

To me, it looks like more of a political play by Obama. Rates are still very low, so there's no need to do this and take money out of the insurance account, even if some say the account has enough now.

Since this was just enacted about 10 days ago, it's not really going to affect anyone, unless they applied in the last four days and they are right at their max loan level.

Just saw a video of people walking into the inauguration ball and people were throwing water on them as they passed by. Would definitely save my dog over a stranger.

How is it a political play for a guy leaving office and considering it would have been beneficial to Trump?

How is it beneficial for Trump if the housing market collapses and there's not enough money in the insurance account to pay the losses like last time?

At the end of the day, there was no reason to drop that rate as interest rates are still very low. There is no shortage of buyers right now, but a huge shortage of sellers almost everywhere.

ETA: Most republicans were against this when Obama shoved it through.

Because more favorable lending terms would lead to more home purchases.

You might as well ask why have a trillion dollar infrastructure bill if there is no need for stimulus or incentives.

Trump in the summer of 2016: "American homeownership rate in Q2 2016 was 62.9% - lowest rate in 51yrs. WE will bring back the 'American Dream!'". I don't get Trump's move either.

I'm sorry, it's just not needed.  Interest rates are still very low. It was a political play by Obama.

I could easily argue that it's mostly only going to help the very, very low end buyer that possibly should not be buying a home.  Everyone above the low end buyer isn't going to need that help to qualify.

Haven't watched for several hours.... She is so ####### hot.
Yeah I don't care what she has to say.  Ivanka is basically gonna be the first lady, I think Melania is gonna be out of the picture mostly.  But when she's in the picture, she fills it up nicely.

Politically popular?  Maybe.  Worthy?  No.
Yeah all it did was save homeowners from ridiculously structured loans from lenders and help create the largest home owning middle class the world has ever seen. Home ownership has been proven to be a vital cog in the economy of this country. It creates jobs, leads to stable childhoods that promote class movement, etc. Seems worthy to me.
