Multiple threads on Nick Sirianni

Most popular team thread by a large margin

For whatever the reasons, FBGs just love talking Eagles ball. I wonder what is?

Thanks to everyone!

No idea.

This should have been posted as a hilarious poll.

The Eagles have been a top-discussed franchise on FBG as long as I can remember, 20 years or so now. Gave up wondering why long ago. There has to be plenty of real good and viable reasons why. I can think of a few. Just guesses, none really verifiable. The only one that might be verifiable is fanbase numbers within FBG board membership data. Even that might not be fully verifiable.

One thought I had is that true Philly sports fans, no matter the sport, love to engage in discussions about those sports. All discussions. Can not keep our mouths shut. I may typify this statement. Unsure.

I'm just waiting for one of the Eagle Naysayers to answer the question. The Philadelphia Eagles are the most popular team on FBG - why?

By "Tons of disingenuous arguments" we're all assuming that, as an Eagles homer, you mean "all arguments I disagree with are disingenuous".

I’d urge you to read the multiple threads on Nick Sirianni from beginning “what does he even do/I wanna punch him in the face” to the current state of those threads where most of those same naysayers have gone all “ Homer in the bushes” now that most/all those takes no longer make sense or stand up.

Or check the evolution of the Jalen Hurts thread.

Most of it really just reeks of people to fully just go “ damn got that wrong” and move on, but for some reason, folks can’t do that and further double down/triple down in hopes of “getting it right eventually”

Then ya know, you also got sour grapes from various fanbases “ that was supposed to be us” takes mixed but those are mainly rooted in delusional jealousy or envy

“We woulda won if not for this injury” say Niners and Lions fans alike while Cowboys fans tell me •Dak owns the Eagles• while ya know, he’s watched them win 2/3 Super Bowls during his career. Rams fans out here I can tell you, are sick of us, but mainly bc they never beat the Eagles.

It’s all in good fun and def love discussing my birds, glad most folks do too.

Winning the Super Bowl couldn't have anything to do with it.
It certainly helps sure, but the Eagles team thread every year is by far the most pages regardless of the final game. I guess it’s just the sustained level of success for such a long period.

I'd have to agree with @Cowboysfan8 that you seem to take even the most mildest and slightest criticism of the Eagles and end up going nuclear and then just call everyone a "hater" and call their arguments "disingenuous".

I'd also have to concur that I think you're overestimating the amount of Eagles interest simply because they're the Eagles. When you win the SuperBowl, usually you're in the news and discussion.

Of course, when you're the most insufferable, despised and worst fanbase in all of pro sports that will get discussion going to.

I’m ok with all of this haha no worries. If this is me going nuclear so be it. I’d wager there are more people that are non Eagles fans posting in our team thread more than any other team, over the past 3-4 years. We have to actually start a new thread for each season.

Using the same tired tropes are boring but sure yeah we are the worst, we hate Santa etc. Not sure how much that contributes to the convo other than I guess we are “ hated”?? I thought that was Chiefs fans but ya know, all good. Usually success breeds hate and disingenuous arguments like saying “a team cheats” when they are simply exploiting rules. Agreeing with Cowboys fans usually works out. Don’t worry “ this is your year” guys lol

Well, to be fair, "this is your year" happened to my team 13 times while your team has had it a very cute 2 times. I'm fine, don't worry.

I agree that success can breed hate, but what breeds even more hate is cheaters, exploiters and gaming the system.

Anyways all in fun. I truly thought an Eagle Naysayer would say something like..

  • Because their fan base leads the league in ankle monitor sponsorship deals.
  • Because Philly fans have perfected the art of celebrating like they just got released on parole.
  • Because their fans have a legally mandated curfew and nothing better to do than argue on FBGs.
  • Because their fans have perfected the art of courtroom tailgating gotta make the parole hearings feel like a home game!
  • Because Philly fans have the highest rate of ‘watch parties via Zoom… from a correctional facility.
  • Because nobody argues on FBGs harder than someone on house arrest with unlimited WiFi and time.
  • Philly fans didn’t just boo Santa Claus, they sacked him harder than a defensive line on Christmas Eve. Poor guy didn’t even have time to check his naughty list!

Man I could have sworn you were a Lions fan haha not sure how/why I thought that, but No fan base regards history much fonder than a Dallas Cowboys so now this all makes way way more sense to me

I’m the only Colts fan at FBGs it seems. Ever noticed the team thread is nowhere to be found? EVER!! If it wasn’t for @Bri you wouldn’t see the Titans as much as you do. 90+% of the posts in that thread are by him. The Raiders thread is popular. So are the Browns for reasons I don’t understand. Cowboys thread is busier than most. So are the Patrons, Jets, Giants and Chiefs.

Yeah. Most of the posts in the eagles thread are
1. 6-7 guys telling each other how good they are

2. Guys telling @DJackson10 he’s not a true fan when he posts anything other than saying how good they are

3. Complaining about “trolls” when anyone other than an eagles fan posts in “their” thread

They add up quick

Yep, my guesses for reasons why Eagles threads attract so much attention have been confirmed, if not verified.
Don’t be afraid to tell us the truth bub. We are the most raucous toughest mean people fans in the NFL surely no need to pardon our feelings (mainly bc we have none)

Some people are going to quickly glance at the thread title, see "Philadelphia Eagles", and think that they are in the team thread. At least that's the mistake I made.

What does Nick Sirianni do? He does have a very punchable face. And his overly emotional nature adds to it.

I've never been in the Jalen Hurts thread but he might be the worst starter on his own offense. He does seem to be a good leader who is respected by his teammates, which is highly valuable given who the HC is.

Eagles are a great team put together by a good GM (with the backing of an owner who is willing to spend) on an incredible hot streak.

I always stop into the Titans thread just to make sure BRI isn't arguing with himself over Titan moves in the offseason.

Eagles fans are a perfect example on why you cant overgeneralize when it comes to people. For instance, in my experience with my neighboring state, I have always admired the blue collar, mid-western values of the good, hardy folks of Pennsylvania. They are polite, considerate, humble and friendly.

Eagles fans are the polar opposite.

So to be clear, you are a Cowboys fan, but not from Texas? Maryland or Ohio? NY?

“We woulda won if not for this injury” say Niners and Lions fans
I can't speak for Niners fans but most if not all Lions fans said that we would have had a great chance to win without the injuries. So for comparison if you lost Carter, Sweat, DeJean (comparable to Hutch, McNeill, Davis), plus a few rotational guys and backups, would you have won?

You do realize you are talking to a fan of the team that won their first Super Bowl with a backup QB right?

So, why would I say no?

The only reason to say no is if your not living in the real world.

TLDR

Yes, the business that I rooted for as a child pays taxes in Texes and I live in Maryland.

Longer version

The reason there are so many Cowboys fans in the DC area is because the Skins were the last team to integrate and so many fans rooted for the Skins rival. The Raiders are also popular here for that reason.

Why did I root for them? Partly because I’m naturally a contrarian. I didn’t like fat old dudes wearing dresses and hog noses. The Skims were great and all everyone talked about. Joe Gibbs was dork. The team colors were/are atrocious.

if you can believe it, the Cowboys were actually worse than they are today.

2017, except we lost the guys on offense, not defense.

Do you recall who besides Wentz and how many? I don't have any idea and I'm interested to hear.. All I know is the Lions had 17 players on IR, just from the defense alone. I understand next man up and all that but there's always a point where it's too much to overcome and we hit that point last year.

Eagles had 12 guys on IR. But losing Wentz really has no comparable. He was the league MVP right up until he tore his knee up. If I said to you, we'll give you all your defensive players back but you can't play Jared Goff in the playoffs. Do you think the Lions would have won the Super Bowl with Teddy Bridgewater or Hendon Hooker at QB?

If we had our defense healthy, which was top 5 before the injuries, then yes with Bridgewater, unlikely with Hooker.

Interesting, the SF 49ers had the #1 defense in the league in 2022 and losing their starting QB made it impossible for them to win a game. My opinion, the Lions defense would have had to have been to be appreciably better than that Niners defense to carry Bridgewater, a guy who spent the year retired, through the playoffs.
