Says the guy who is so obsessed with philly fans he can't get through one day without talking about them :lmao:

Pure obsesssssssiiiion.
Another obvious lie. Seek help. I hope you get better
:lmao: And this is why The Eagles are the most popular team on this board. Some people just can't go through a day without talking about the fans and derailing threads.

I know for a fact that you guys aren’t 14.

“We woulda won if not for this injury” say Niners and Lions fans
I can't speak for Niners fans but most if not all Lions fans said that we would have had a great chance to win without the injuries. So for comparison if you lost Carter, Sweat, DeJean (comparable to Hutch, McNeill, Davis), plus a few rotational guys and backups, would you have won?

2017, except we lost the guys on offense, not defense.
Do you recall who besides Wentz and how many? I don't have any idea and I'm interested to hear.. All I know is the Lions had 17 players on IR, just from the defense alone. I understand next man up and all that but there's always a point where it's too much to overcome and we hit that point last year.

Eagles had 12 guys on IR. But losing Wentz really has no comparable. He was the league MVP right up until he tore his knee up. If I said to you, we'll give you all your defensive players back but you can't play Jared Goff in the playoffs. Do you think the Lions would have won the Super Bowl with Teddy Bridgewater or Hendon Hooker at QB?
If we had our defense healthy, which was top 5 before the injuries, then yes with Bridgewater, unlikely with Hooker.

Interesting, the SF 49ers had the #1 defense in the league in 2022 and losing their starting QB made it impossible for them to win a game. My opinion, the Lions defense would have had to have been to be appreciably better than that Niners defense to carry Bridgewater, a guy who spent the year retired, through the playoffs.
The Niners other QBs were garbage.

So is Teddy Bridgewater.
So is Foles
Foles >>>>>> Prescott

I know for a fact that you guys aren’t 14.
I know for a fact I’m not. The other poster just might be. If he is now I feel bad for exposing him as a liar and a narc. :(
You did nothing but expose yourself. Hope you don't report this post too narc.
Last post to you today

I asked you if we should ask the mods who the narc is. You said ok

He came in the thread unasked and said I don’t report anyone. He did not say the same for you

Anyone who reads the thread can do with that info whatever they see fit. It’s all here in black and white. I’m good

it really only takes a few posters to make multiple page threads.....not really sure that page numbers actually mean ****.....it isn't necessarily the determining factor on most "popular" team on a website.....do you like get a cookie or participation trophy for being most popular...?.....I didn't know a designation like that even existed....are we in high school again...?...maybe it's so cool Joe should give Eagles fans their own forum where they can create a circle...but the mere creation of a thread like this aimed at pounding the chest of your team speaks volumes by itself....need for attention, validation, hey look at me....so it's no wonder those might have the most "pages"....Eagles have a good team with some compelling storylines and characters, coach, tush push etc....but the need for a thread like this probably plays a role and answers the question you posted in the thread title....
This is one of those "I don't care so much, WATCH THIS" posts.

I was just asking a qustion and you took that as validation. We are now redefining what the word "popular" means in an effort to tell Eagles fans their team certainly isn't popular after winning the Super Bowl.

Doing God's Work here, keep it up!
just asking a question....lol....this thread was the equivalent of saying .....hey tell me why I am so cool....and then you double down by saying if you need some help here are the reasons I think I am so cool....and then you list off a bunch of meaningless tidbits.....and then sit back and hope people keep pimping you....never ever seen a fanbase feel the need to be self proclaimed and validated as "most popular" on a website.....which is why I say I think you have answered your own question.....

You nailed it
Not really. The Eagles thread IS the most popular team thread, and has been for quite a while now. It also has more regular posters in it then any other team thread. Part of it is certainly the success the team has enjoyed, as threads for the Patriots and Steelers have also been much more visited/used when those teams were strong. But look at the KC thread for a fair comparison...nowhere near the number of posts NOR the number of actual KC fans posting.

That said, just because the thread has more Eagles fans posting in it doesn't mean that it's the most popular team, just that it has the most active fans posting. For all we know the Bengals could have the most actual FBGs as fans (unlikely but you get my point). It's a silly discussion though, because what does it really mean in the end? NOt much TBH.

Lock the thread
could I see the stats/numbers where you tracked the bolded and those same stats for the other 31 teams....what's the breakdown....

to the rest of your post....your spot on and that's the point......it means nothing but Eagles fans feel the need to pound their chest and say look at me and please everyone agree scream from the mountain tops how cool we are so we fell better about ourselves....very sad
and right on cue... the bitter and jealous KC fan steps in to take a jab at eagles fans and not mention football at all.
not bitter....not jealous.....we have twice as many SB's, more recent success, etc...blah blah blah..no jab just stating the facts....and this thread isn't even about football ......so not sure why that keeps getting brought up...it's about a popularity contest apparently....honestly it should probably be moved to the Free For All Forum.....

The Eagles have been a top-discussed franchise on FBG as long as I can remember, 20 years or so now.
I dont remember this. Not doubting you, but my notebook has the Patriots and Chargers (LT2) as most talked about. That and Brett Favre is not a HOFer
Oh, what do I know for sure? Nothing. I've never kept a FBG notebook. I would place more accuracy on your statement as upon reflection I may only be using a very limited amount of brain memory cells.

Hey man! Glad to see you keep checking in. I really didn't start this thread to brag or go "haha ratings" or the silly stuff I have heard from the loudest fanbase in my division my entire lifetime. Certainly nothing like that at all, I was just trying to get to the root of the question "why" hence the title. A few folks hypothesized basically it happens when teams are good, which is true. But looking at the team itself, other than maybe the coach- a bunch of good dudes, great stories, no bad guys really or drama. Its a fun team to root for.

Eagles currently have two separate threads on the main page that aren't even the "official" team thread.
Yeah, that should probably end.
Yeah this thread was started by an Eagles fan and it’s been nothing but a bitching and whining contest (to what should be the surprise of nobody at all).

Can't we all just get along? Maybe THAT is the real question - Why does the success of the Eagles trigger so many people? I mean, is there any other team that has MULTIPLE threads on a team's Head Coach? Its both interesting and weird.

TBH the fact that there are multiple threads about the coach is a problem in itself, but that's more of a board issue....generally multiple threads basically about the same thing is kind of frowned upon and should be merged....so once again, that really means nothing.....and I'm not even triggered in the least bit.....I just find it highly entertaining and sad all at the same time the motivation for a thread like this..... a sad attempt at chest pounding disguised as "just asking a question" and "wondering why"....and then when people call you out or push back they get blamed for "not even talking about football" when this thread isn't even about football....and I'm not sure of the "so many people being triggered by Eagles success"....that's the first I've heard of that and not sure what you expected when you started this thread here....maybe in the Eagles thread there is some triggering or something....I don't know...but I think you might be dramatizing the triggered thing just a little...which kind of speaks for itself as well that Eagle fan may have a perception of something that doesn't even really exist...we get it, you love your team and you want to make sure EVERYBODY else knows how "popular" they are....

I mean I think I said it a few times, but I'll say it again, I'm not super duper serious about this. Its just an observation I've seen. And when I say statements other than the OP, I'm usually just referring to my personal perspective on the comings/goings of how outsiders view my team via family, friends, national media, my interactions on social media etc.

I'll give you what I think the answer is - I think, much like Jalen Hurts, a lot of people were wrong about Nick and the team overall, and ya know, stuck to their original opinions about each guy, and sort of let those preconceived notions, poison logic a little bit, and when even the team, the player or said coach had success, there just *felt* like there were always excuses for it rather than ya know, the team being good (Jalen is a RB, the Tush Push TDs don't actually count, Nick can't coach, OMG the only reason they were good bc of easy schedule, etc) I'm not sure if you are familiar with the notion, but in Eagles fandome "Eagles 0-infinity in hypotheticals" is a thing we say nowadays to the so many wild takes like

"Insert X QB on this SUPERTEAM and they would have scored 42 points a game"
"anyone can coach a SUPERTEAM"
"if brock purdy would have been healthy"
"Jalen DID NOTHING to help them win" its all coincidence

I'm just not sure why the weirdness around our team to the point you got folks on here and NFL coaches straight up LYING about how dangerous a version of a QB sneak is to get it out of the game bc the Eagles do it and they are the only ones that do it like that.

It just feels weird and sorta obsessive to me is all and I wondered if others felt like that really.

Not a thing to "brag" about lol there is literally no one in my real life that goes "Oh yeah Footballguys huh, I've heard how crazy the fight to be popular is over there!"

Multiple threads on Nick Sirianni
3 separate threads on The Tush Push
Most popular team thread by a large margin
Tons of disingenuous arguments
Best team in Football

For whatever the reasons, FBGs just love talking Eagles ball. I wonder what is?

Thanks to everyone!

Go Birds!
I'm not going to read several pages about it but I will share what i think the main reason folks like the Eagles and want to discuss them
-First, they beat the Chiefs and faced them twice in the Super Bowl last 3 seasons. I feel that most NFL fans have a lot of respect for them

-Second, they didn't buy the team. I mentioned this in the Mock Draft we are doing but I want to put a direct link to their depth chart and just look at the number of draft picks

That Defense sports a lot of talent
DL including Davis 22/1 Carter 23/1
LBs/Edge Dean 22/3 (inj), Smith 23/1, Hunt 24/3
DBs Mitchell 24/1, DeJean 24/2 (what a haul last year) Brown 23/3, Ringo 24/3

And most of their main pieces on Offense minus AJB and Saquon were mostly brought in thru the Drafts
How can you get mad at them?

I feel ya and thanks for the response. But I'll note, the popularity/unreal takes/hate wishing started well before we just beat the Chiefs, including the threads on Nick Sirianni. I'll also note, the Sirianni threads were VERY popular after we lost the Super Bowl and collapsed in 2024, but some of the most common posters in those sorta went Homer in The Bushes quick quick.

But I will say, I DO agree with your notion - people were sick of the Chiefs and honestly I'm not sure America likes a FLOPPER like Mahomes being the main guy to carry the sport, the Eagles definitely bring a different sort of energy. And all the players are guys you can root for. So if the hate is by way of "Heavy is the head" it just feels different to me bc its been going on for quite some time, at least here. Check any Eagles game thread here and how many pages there are - any year the last 3 years though. Its wild how much hate wishing on our team there is.

I don't have the answer, nor do I want to check, but if you subtract Eagles fan posts in those threads and do the same in another team's thread, what percentage of the posts were by others? That is a better indiation of team popularity in this forum.

Maybe we should start a Philadelphia Eagles team thread for non Philadelphia Eagles' fans
I anyways thought the team threads here were for the team, not just the fans.
In the years I’ve been here guys pop in the cowboys thread sometimes and make of Jerry, Dak, their playoff drought etc and you know how many cowboys fans flip out? Call posters “haters”? “Troll”? Suggest these posters get ignored? Zero

Why do you think that is?

Whenever I think of the Eagles, the first thing that pops in my head:

Super Bowl XV: The Raiders defeated the Eagles by the score of 27–10, becoming the first wild card playoff team to win a Super Bowl.

That’s all I got and, yes, I know I’m pointing at a 45 year old score board. But that’s all I got.

Happy for the recent success of your long suffering franchise.

All Good. Eagles lost the Super Bowl the year I was born a quirky stat I'm well aware of.

Also won their first Super Bowl on my future Wife's Birthday.

Poetry.

I think of Harold Carmichael, Wilbert Montgomery, Ron Jaworski, and Harold Jackson. But then again I'm old.

I wasn’t really triggered or even taking a jab at you (for the record). I was simply saying the outcome was predictable.

In the years I’ve been here guys pop in the cowboys thread sometimes and make of Jerry, Dak, their playoff drought etc and you know how many cowboys fans flip out? Call posters “haters”? “Troll”? Suggest these posters get ignored? Zero

Why do you think that is?
You seem to be suggesting it is because the Eagles fans are thin skinned or something. I don’t buy that. Eagles fans very much exhibit the “no one likes us we don’t care” mentality.
In the team thread, there is a lot of pointless back and forth between a few posters that has clearly become personal at this point. I’m not assigning blame, but it does muck up the thread and makes it pretty unreadable.
I’d wager that most folks in that thread would enjoy meaningful discourse with fans of another team (Cowboys included) and would tolerate the occasional ribbing.
