We don't have a World Cup 2026 thread so I am putting this here

Tension between FIFA & the Kroenke’s over financial terms of deal for SoFi stadium in LA to host World Cup games in 2026.
@TheAthleticFC told that KSE (owners of Arsenal, LA Rams) threatening to withdraw SoFi from hosting unless deal renegotiated
Would the Rose Bowl? Hopefully it's like 105F when England plays Germany in the quarterfinal so they both melt.

I don't usually side with FIFA, but would be good to see Kroenke miss out on the World Cup

He should. I'm assuming FIFA is offering the same terms as they're giving everyone else and Kroenke thinks he deserves more because of LA/Sofi. FIFA pretty much is in the driver's seat here with how many stadiums there are in the US. I'm sure they wouldn't have much trouble moving to the Rose bowl or the Coliseum if Kroenke digs his heels in.

Pulisic and Musah both starting for Milan this morning

This feels like the setup for one of those days where someone injures themself during warmups
Super heavy rain this afternoon in Milan. Pitch is waterlogged. I hope they both come through healthy.

Aaronson, Pefok and Scally starting today as well.

Good to see Jedi back and starting next to Ream.
Brooks starting for Hoffenheim as well as they are dominating Union 2-0 at half. Brooks has had an unbelievable 55 touches in the first half.

Hoffenheim is coached by Matarazzo and after he saved them from relegation last season, they are flying high to start this one, 1 point off the top of the table.

Turner has given up two goals early to Man City but almost made a nice save on a free kick. Not much he can do on either goal as Forest are a mess at the back. They left Haaland unmarked ffs for a free header from the 6 for one of them.

Kinda hate they are splitting time at RWB.

Did Musah also play RWB today? It looks that way on FotMob
I hate that it's either/or and no option for both.

I had read during the week that they were looking at a 3-5-2 with Musah maybe on the wing of the 5... not sure if that's how it played out. but nice to see that he went 90

Sources: New York Red Bulls sign highly-rated US youth int'l forward Julian Hall to a homegrown deal. Hall, 15, led RBNY U-15s to MLS Next Cup title & won Golden Boot.

7 apps with RBNY II & is youngest goal scorer in RBNY II history.

MLS deal starts immediately
Hall is on the bench tonight for RBNY at DC :oldunsure:

In the 2008 winger class, he's been overshadowed a bit by Berchimas and Jamir Johnson but definitely a huge talent

My very first game of any sort was DC United vs Valderrama's Mutiny at RFK during the remnants of a hurricane.

I was soccer curious before that, but the atmosphere that night -- the weather, the game, the singing and chanting of maybe 8,000 hard-core crazies -- had a lot to do with me being sucked in. We went to a bunch of other games that season then bought season tix for the next ~five years.

My very first soccer game was also at RFK; the New York Cosmos vs. the Washington Diplomats and it must have been 1980 because the Dips had Johan Cruyff. I remember absolutely nothing about the game, other than I couldn't follow it.

MLS updates from yesterday (note Mia play Orlando tonight on FS1)

AM Brian Gutierrez (2003) was pulling all the strings vs NE. He scored and had a great assist as well. Underlying stats were crazy good. 7 Chances created, 4/4 on dribbles, and 8/9 on ground duels playing as a 10 (Shaqiri is out). He still needs to fill out as he's thinner than Pulisic, but he's ready for a big move. Unfortunately, he left the game in the closing minutes with a knee injury on a bang bang tackle in the box (VAR reviewed). Hopefully he's okay as I'm not sure there is a more creative player in our pool. For those that haven't watched, best comparison - James Maddison.

LB John Tolkin (2002) also had a goal and drew a penalty in a wild 5-3 win over DCU. Tolkin pretty much played as a LWB. I know a lot of people were impressed more by Jones in the Gold Cup, but watching them both in MLS, Tolkin is just a better player. NYRB play a bit different style so my guess is he's a bit of a fish out of water with the Nats. He really needs a move to test himself vs better players.

LW Matthew Hoppe (2001) - yes him - scored for the 2nd straight game coming off the bench. He now has more goals on the season than the guy he's backing up - Cade Cowell :oldunsure: I'm not suggesting Hoppe should move back in the pool but maybe just taking a shot at the ridiculous notion that a guy with 1 goal and 2 assists on the MLS season keeps getting NT looks.

He is supposedly VERY close to gaining his US citizenship. I know he is not the youngest guy but at 29 and with this skill set, he would be worth a call up just to see how he fits

Whatever you do, don't pass it to the 2 wide open guys in front of the goal.

For real. That looked like the hero ball **** that I see from U11.
