US Men's National Team (12 Viewers)

I finished watching the whole game. Another solid game for the US, 4th straight, even if one of them was a loss, they were totally dominant in the loss.

The 3-0 scoreline was fair. I love that even when up 1-0, the US stayed on the front foot until they broke Italy.

The US meet what is said to be the best team in the tournament next in Morocco. Seems like every WC the U20’s lose at this quarter final stage.

Even if this US group doesn't have a lot of higher end likely Senior team talent, they seem to play pretty well together.

It is weird. I have watched every game of the WC for the US so far as I did for all recent US U20’s wc’s. This team has been playing the best team ball of any US U20 team I can remember. Even teams that did well in the past, we were never on the front foot for 85 minutes every game like this US team has been.

And yet, like you said, no one is popping off the screen individually to think they could make the leap to senior team soon, but to be fair, they are all really good, which makes individual talent a little harder to stand out. They are missing Banks and Kochen, the two guys most likely to break into the senior team.

But the rest of the guys all look like they will have strong pro careers. Whether a Gozo, a Cremaschi, a Niko, can take the next step at club level is unknown.

I am 4 games in with him and my god he is infuriating to watch.

He seems to have some technical skill but he makes the wrong choice so often. Dribbling when a pass should be made, crossing high when low was called for, just ignoring open teammates while he puts his head down and tries to dribble 4 defenders. I am honestly kind of shocked he has made it to the bench at main team at Dortmund based on this small sample.

Cole Campbell starting today was obviously a mistake. He was **** again.

Unfortunately, he’s not good and is miles away from being relevant for the usmnt. Stuttgart got lucky that Dortmund didn’t sell him

Cole Campbell is so devoid of confidence, he needs counseling. Please allow him the opertunity to recover, mentally before giving him additional playing time. His current status is hurting the #TEAM...jmho

This may be harsh but I cannot remember a player that has hurt his stock so much at a youth tournament as Cole Campbell has during this U20 WC.

Yes. The decisions made especially...thats tlbeen the biggest weakness ive noticed. Almost universally the wrong choice on the ball or with his run. But his touch hasnt been Bundi level either. I know BWB has kept him around due to injuries up top, but damn...either he shows out in practice, or theyre REALLy desperate for warm bodies.

It was pretty spectacular. The wall was set up really well...i assumed it was always going to be Cremaschi on his right given the angle.

The keeper seemed pissed at his wall but I think they were lined up right. Keeper was a bit slow to react as it was not a rocket but beautifully placed.

Brooklyn Raines (20) has been one of the best performers for the US-U20 national team during the U20 World Cup with 1g 2a.

The USYNT is off to the u20 WC quarterfinals after a dominating 3-0 win vs Italy where Raines started and went the full 90.

Raines, who is a regular starter for the Dynamo, is a huge piece for the club’s future plans. The team is willing to let him go for the right price.

That's an interesting midfield. My guess is it looks an awful lot like a 433 with Weston sliding inside and Miles playing a stay at home outside back type of role.

I also think we will see Tillman tuck in on that side and play a bit of a free role so that width is really just Arfsten and Weah.

Every camp it seems different because we have no continuity in the roster due to injuries and other issues.

This game is missing likely starters in Dest, Robinson, Adams and Pulisic, along with two probable core roster players in Zendejas and Pepi.

Hopefully Arf and Weah are more ahead of or even with Tess and Morris. Again the United formation seems like a good idea right?

I thought balo was definitely in there. I like what I've seen from him tonight. Playing stronger too. Against that hogh press I wish he'd stay high like that and us keep testing. I didnt know he had that kind of speed. Unfortunately the rest of us dont seem to have that and he's having to wait for reinforcements.
 
I need to figure out how Richards was put in that position, but I don't think he did much wrong on the goal. Maybe Freese could have come out and cut the angle a tad, but much more and he gives up a near post window. Enner had about a foot to shoot at and he hit it. Sometimes a guy makes a play.

Both teams had their moments. Their was a lot of intensity. Good game in all.

I miss the days when we had the fastest guys on the field.

Also have we scored of a corner kick this decade?
 
Well outside of the obvious, I actually thought the US had a good half. Balogun was especially active. This is a very good team they are playing though.
