It may taste ok but visually this seems like it would be disgusting. Also like apple sauce with cottage cheese. I
I never knew Frito Pie wasn't served in the bag. A high school cafeteria and concession stand staple. My high school cafeteria sold Frito pies in the bag with the bag cut open and the chili and stuff on top. (With a huge napkin cushion because that stuff is HOT.) When Mr R (a llocal) got it that way a few years back, he was weirrded out. He'd only seen it served in a styrofoam box. Seemed normal to me.Not many folks outside of the great state of Texas know about this, honestly. It took me moving to Austin to discover this joy. That's just a Frito pie with hot dog in it. Nothing odd at all.Someone mentioned Fritos earlier. On coney dogs (chili-mustard-onions) throw some Fritos on top.
Here's another one from when I was a kid: Some raspberries, a torn-up piece of Wonder Bread, with milk and sugar.Try sliced banana on it. Or just the banana slices with milk and sugar. Tasty.I love this for leftover rice and still eat it.Cold rice, milk, and sugar.
How I learned to eat rice as a kid.
My elementary school would serve hot buttered white rice as a side for breakfast. I would add a packet of sugar and a splash of milk.
Fisherman No.1: Why do you keep dipping your minnows in butter?Live minnows with butter. Be careful however and swallow head first so the gills don’t get stuck in your throat.
I believe that Philly cream cheese is the perfect food. It goes with most anything- sweet or savory.
Isn't there some sort of packaged snack on crackers that's been around forever that's basically this? While I've switched to almond butter, I will say that I've enjoyed peanut butter combined with many things. Now we're talking. I have a theory that peanut butter goes with everything. Or almost everything. No, everything.as a kid, I ate celery with peanut butter AND blue cheese dressing on it at same time.
However I vaguely remember trying a peanut butter and cheese whizz sandwich years ago. This combo didn't work out well for me.
When I used to eat Top Ramen, I would drain it too. No tomato sauce & cheese, though. I'd just stir in the seasoning and eat the noodles. I had no idea it was actually supposed to be more of a soup. I guess I could have looked on the package but I was like 12 or 13 and didn't know any better. My son eats ramen like spaghetti, drained with tomato sauce and cheese. I tried it and didn't like it.

Perhaps you were thinking of Chubby Hubby? Americone Dream has waffle cone pieces.Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream (more or less)Ice cream with a side of pretzels.
I used to do this too.As a kid I liked putting peanuts in a bottle of Coke.
People used to do this at 7-11. Open a bag of Fritos and then dump in their chili and cheese.I never knew Frito Pie wasn't served in the bag. The whole of the supermarket and that was what you got? There has to be a story there. It sound like one of those Guy Fieri grocery games or something.cream cheese and cheetos on baguette.Cream cheese and olives sandwich. Ate this as a kid when we were home sick and still make it once a year or so.
this was a "oh crap, forgot lunch and have to run to the supermarket across the street from HS to scrounge" lunch... it was phenomenal.
it’s definitely a thing in the Detroit area even if it’s not Detroit style pizza. I don’t care for not but my wife does. When I was in HS I would say 50/50 on whether kids would dip pizza/pepperoni rolls into ranch. My son does this too, it feels like something younger folks got from social media. My daughter dips her pizza in Ranch dressing
There are pizza places in Portland that give ranch with the pizza. Detroit style places I think.

Wendy's fries dipped in their Frosty hasWeird is right. The first I could see as a kid thing; liking both and just throwing them together and down the hatch at recess. You've got games to play.Potato Chips dipped in Apple Sauce
Fries dipped in a milk shake
But FRIES DIPPED IN A MILK SHAKE??? There's worse on here but this confounds me (not the first time I've seen it). Starting with one being hot and the other cold. Slices of fried hot potato with a cold, sugary shake is a kid being weird just to experiment or funny while both are served together.
And one you chew, the other you drink. The two textures and temps together would make my tongue go on strike. Do you still do it?
been a "thing" in these parts for as long as I can remember.
Is that a Southern thing? As a kid I liked putting peanuts in a bottle of Coke.
Yes. That's where peanuts are grown. People had to find a way to use them up. I tried it. Yuck. Makes your Coke really chunky. Is that a Southern thing? As a kid I liked putting peanuts in a bottle of Coke.

I agree as an adult. One thing that putting peanuts in the coke is that it took the fizz away, which is the downside. However, I loved the taste.Sounds terrible. The fast food burger I had after my last colonoscopy was the best burger I'd ever had.Today is my colonoscopy prep day. At this point I would any weird combo posted so far. I just want food.![]()
Can confirm this - my wife likes to do that. I do not.Wendy's fries dipped in their Frosty has been a "thing" in these parts for as long as I can remember.Weird is right. Same. The slice of cheese on sweet things just hits me as something u shouldn't do. Ha haFor some reason I seem to be the only one who doesn't like mixing in sweet with the non sweet. Nothing wrong with dessert, I just don't like it mixed into the meal.

Saw a YT video the other day on forgotten depression era food and this was on it as well as a banana & mayo sandwichMy dad used to eat peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. He'd eat like 4 of those after getting home from work.

It mentioned how peanut butter used to be very dry
You are not alone. I don't mix sweet with savory either. For some reason I seem to be the only one who doesn't like mixing in sweet with the non sweet. Nothing wrong with dessert, I just don't like it mixed into the meal.
Not Leroy, but chicken and waffles is not good. Or bacon on doughnuts. I don't even like honey glazed ham.For some reason I seem to be the only one who doesn't like mixing in sweet with the non sweet. Nothing wrong with dessert, I just don't like it mixed into the meal.
Thanks.
Can you give some examples of sweet + savory combinations that others like that you don't?
Agree with all of these. Even with a traditional bacon and egg breakfast I put butter on the toast or English muffin, not jam or jelly. Not Leroy, but chicken and waffles is not good. Great example. In the South chicken and waffles is like an expectation for breakfast. Just an odd combo for me personally. Not Leroy, but chicken and waffles is not good. Or bacon on doughnuts. Lots of southern food items listed already - most of these I don't care for but they are common around the areas I've lived:
MIL has done ranch on pizza for a long time - I tried it and it's ok but I don't need to make my pizza more fattening and calorie dense.
- Banana and Mayo sandwich
- Tomato and Mayo sandwich
- Peanuts in Coke - remember my uncle doing this 40-45 years ago
I also make salads without the lettuce. Iceberg lettuce has almost no nutritional value
If only they had come up with other types of lettuce by now!
My son does this too, it feels like something younger folks got from social media. My daughter dips her pizza in Ranch dressing

Maybe this will work for you....? Mayonnaise on bread. That's all. We called it a "Wish Sandwich", as in, we wish there was some meat in there. haha.Ketchup and butter sandwiches. Had them at Gramma's house after preschool (around the corner) way back in the day. Still make it from time to time for a quick snack.
Or if I want some protein, a peanut butter and butter sandwich. Yum.
I actually threw up a little.
I love them. That peanut butter filling is sweetened, just so you know.No reeses peanut butter cups? You are not alone. Well in that case you probably have enough on it by now.I've been putting ranch dressing on my pizza since the late 80s
you have brought me soo many laughs over the years. Thank you.
Just awesome, lmao

I don’t think that is weird at all. Just some bacon short of the Elvis.Peanut Butter, Banana, and honey sandwich
