Who's your All Time "In With A Bang / Out With A Whimper" (1 Viewer)

Joey Galloway, good seasons when he was 24-27 and 34-36, otherwise disappointing

Aaron Brooks

The 1999 season had several candidates. My first year in FF.

Steve Beuerlein (Panthers) - 343-4,436yds-36 TDs

Warner and this guy led the league. And then there were the WR:

Patrick Jeffers (Panthers) - 63-1,082-12 thanks to Beuerlein

Marcus Robinson (Bears) - 84-1,400-9

Germane Crowell (Detroit) - 81-1,338-7

Albert Connell (Redskins) - 62-1,132-7

Derrick Mayes (Seahawks) - 62-829-10

Man, some great names gents. Marc freakin' Boerigter? Genius...
22,999,996 of 23 million Australians have no idea who he is. Trading a high draft pick for him in dynasty just after his rookie season means this Aussie will curse his name until the day I die.

Clinton Portis too. I ended up having to drop him in a ton of dynasty leagues. Never thought the cliff would come as fast as it did.
Horrible post. Dude was a monster for quite a few years.
So he didn't enter the league with a bang and eventually went out with a poof??? Not debating the awesome years in the middle
Barry Sanders too. That guy had some great years, but then nothing.

LT really disappointed after like 8 years. Too bad.

Larry Johnson is the king of this thread.

Ahman Green, Clinton Portis and Shaun Alexander do not belong. It's rare for a running back to have more than 5-6 years of high productivity.

dont get the clinton portis nominations, six seasons with 1000 yard rushing yards? First name that came to mind for me was Ben Tate, one season with close to 1000 yards rushing then nothing

First two names that came to mind.

Robinson did help a lot of owners as a desperation flex in '03 when he had his 4 TD game vs the Seahawks with Anthony Wright playing QB for the Ravens!

Ah, the old in-with-a-bang, keep-it-up-for-several-years, tear-an-acl, take-a-few-years-to-get-all-the-way-back, return-with-a-bang-for-a-few-more-years, get-old-and-retire example.

Pretty much exactly what the OP was looking for.

Does Willie Parker qualify

He certainly entered with a bang out of no where. Enjoyed 3x 1200 yd rushing seasons and two Pro-Bowls from 2004 to 2006. Then two more years of relative uselessness fantasy-wise and by 2010 he was out of the league.

Surprised no one's mentioned Marc Bulger. 2003-06 he put up great stats, then became shell-shocked behind a horrible OL.

I don't know why people are saying Herman Moore, he was good for a long time. Stephen Davis rushed for over 8,000 yards in his career.

You guys should look up career stats before you throw names out there.

Many NFL skill players are productive their first years and then get hurt or get old resulting in a decline in performance. Guys like Ahman Green had incredible production for a few years and then petered out. It's just the nature of the game. They don't all go out like Tiki Barber. In fact, he and Barry Sanders had a few years left in the tank. I don't get a lot of the names being thrown out.

Im going with

Chris Warren
Wow, what a great name. I was just getting into fantasy when Chris Warren was at his best, and he helped me win 2 championships in a row. I drafted him again and he suddenly started to suck. I think at one point he was losing snaps to Lamar Smith, who could also be on this list maybe.

Germaine Crowell/Marcus Robinson also great nominations, though I believe both had major injuries that they never quite recovered from?

3 off the the of my head:

Don Beebe. 4 TDs in week 1 (maybe week 2) - traded my #1 waiver rights to him for Gerald Riggs who scored like 12 TDs thay year.

Ickey Woods :(

Dalton Hilliard

I thought of Bulger. 2005 he also only played half the year, although he was playing well. So he had three top 10 seasons, then nothing higher than QB23 outside of those.

No love for Dorsey Levens?

The first fantasy title I ever won (1997) was courtesy of him and Kordell Stewart. Pretty sure neither one of them ever finished in the top 10 outside of that year again.

Derrick Ward has 1,400 total yards in 2008, then was drafted as an RB2 when he went to Tampa the following year. That didn't work out so good.

Though strangely, he rushed for as many TDs in his two seasons in Houston (6 TDs on 95 attempts) as he had in the entirety of his NYG/TB career.

Herman Moore had 4 1000yd seasons withe the last 3 over 100 catches. Then his career fell off a cliff.

Stephen davis had 4 years over 1300yds. Then his career fell of a cliff.

That's exactly what the OP was getting at. Maybe you should look up stats before you post.

No argument here... but by that standard, most players "end with a whimper".... even Ladainian Tomlinson.

I think the OP was referring to one-hit wonders, or guys who declined as quickly as they peaked.

Because he had microfracture surgery on his right knee, not because of declining skills. Four RB1 seasons with a fifth injury riddled season sandwiched in between isn't exactly short fantasy relevance for a RB.

Moore had two 900+ yard seasons before his 4 almost 1200+ yard seasons, follow by another 900+ yard season. Amongst those 4 1300+ yard season, Davis also had an 820 yard season in which he only played 12 games, then he had a 12 td season in Carolina so he was still fantasy relevant. You people seem to expect ten years of 1000+ yard, double digit TD seasons or else they sucked.
