When I am evaluating my talent evaluation process I don't care about what other people do because that isn't relevant to my process.

In this case @Hot Sauce Guy had a plan and went after the guy he thought was a huge value at that draft stage. He paid what it took to get the guy he believed in. Then he compared it to the actual picks selected from the picks he gave away. It proved to not be an overpay in hindsight just giving him a data point for his talent evaluations. What other people trade for is irrelevant to that evaluation.

There doesn't seem to be too much pessimism in and around DAL even if the immenency of the rumor is false.

Even Clarence Hill Jr. who disputed the rumor expressed confidence that a deal gets done.

In a dynasty salary cap league I have Lamb ($45 out of $250 cap) and have started inquiring about acquiring ARSB (also $45 out of $250) and moving Lamb for the stability. It likely won't materialize but the thought has at least crossed my mind.

These non-guaranteed contracts are the most ridiculous thing ever. And the reason the sport is at the point it's at now.

Quite odd that the most physical sport (of the big four) does not have guaranteed contracts. Greed runs rampant and I do not blame the players for getting what they can. Annoying for fans of a player/team, but why would you not try to grab the bucket as soon as you can knowing what your body has to endure?

3 WRs from Lamb's class have been resigned, another is imminent.

4 WRs from the following class have been extended, two of them with 2 years remaining on their rookie contract.

TBF, 5 of those contract were lower Tier deals. CeeDee (+ maybe Aiyuk?) is def going to be - deservedly - in the $30M + category.

Should have locked him up last year when it would have been way cheaper. Let DET, MIA and MIN set the marketplace. Price went up the longer they waited.

What's more important to Jerry at the moment, and that moment will fade as we draw close to the regular season is that 13-4 with a 1st round playoff exit isn't going to earn easy contract negotiations. CD's deal should be simple at this juncture, but I think Jerry wants to make this deal difficult purposefully. He'll cave at some point prior to the reg season.

Because this is how most of the rest of the league operates with marquee players- they sign them before their contract runs out. It’s good for the team because the club gets them cheaper the earlier they do it. The price is only going up. It’s also good for the team because it prevents another team from stealing them away. It’s good for the player because they get the protection in case there is a catastrophic injury. Sure the Cowboys have paid him well but so would 31 other NFL teams. He was a coveted 1st round pick who has lived up to the hype. Every team in the league wants him. He’s not some UDFA Dallas saved from the XFL. He’s making them a lot of money. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement but obviously Dallas is choosing to handle their players different than most every team. You have to imagine Dak and Micah are looking at this situation shaking their heads as well.

It happens pretty much every time something like this does. Check how Brandon Aiyuk/Niners fans viewed him pre and post contract dispute.

But also part of that equation is when teams sign players to long term deals they guarantee a large amount up front. If the player stinks, fails to perform, gets hurt, the team still owes those guarantees. It's a one sided risk. This risk is enahanced when you are signing players before their contracts run out.

It’s really not that much guaranteed up front. Like Amon Ra’s deal was for an average of 30 mill a year. Only 34 is guaranteed though. So yes the team is risking a lot up front but if Amon Ra gets hurt or decides he doesn’t want hard anymore, he’s going to lose out on the other 70 million of this contract plus lord knows how much his deal could be worth. The players in these scenarios stand to lose way way more from decline in performance.

Players deserve to be protected for injury. As far as stinking, it all depends on the player but it's safe to say CeeDee doesn't stink. Does he go full Albert Haynesworth, or Bobby Bonilla, after he gets paid? Well, how well would that same player perform if he's bitter because he didn't get paid? If he balls out he gets tagged the following year, so maybe he pulls a T.O.. Too many variables. Bottom line is no risk it no biscuit.

You want to draft Lambs and Parsons, and then re-sign them. The first chance you get. More you wait, more it costs, and if you are in no rush to re-sign Lamb, you aren't in a rush to re-sign anyone.

In terms of young talent to be re-signed by their clubs, Lamb/Parson is the best duo in the league, and I don't need to think about it. #2/#3 most valuable positions, they have no injury questions, no character stuff. The second the new league year began, they should have been trying to extend Parson. Still should be.

If you are any other DAL player, why would you think you are gonna get taken care of when the time comes?
