WR DK Metcalf, PIT (1 Viewer)

In CBSsports, 100% rostered but only 67% started. That's Courtland Sutton range among top receivers. The matchup scared many. You have company!

Mike Evans

I don't think I've ducked a Mike Evans game in my main dynasty league without him throwing up about twenty-five points.

It's been four years. I've won a championship and I still haven't beaten the guy trotting out Mike Evans and company.

DK, on the other hand, I roster, so of course it's not twenty-five points a game. I'd be utterly giddy if that was the case.

Yep. Mike Evans week 17, 38 point game last year prevented my b2b championship. I close my eyes and I still see that box score.

Geno finally looked like good Geno last night ina tough matchup on the road. Promising for all Metcalf owners..

Thankfully the guy that had Evans had been eliminated the week before and I survived a 1.50 or 1.60 performance from DK to win a championship. To say DK is matchup-proof is to overstate the case, based on my experience.

Just trying to bring it back to DK.

Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf's 'dominant' night not enough in loss to Cowboys

Nice highlight package at the link. You wonder how he can look so physically dominant out there and not produce every week. I know there's a technician's element of route-running and contested balls to work on, but that catch against Bland deep along the sidelines was a thing of beauty. He didn't show eyes or hands until the very end (as Herbstreit pointed out) and he just hand caught the ball and it stuck. Great play. Better than his touchdown catches or routes.

I think at times Metcalf looks like the best wr in football. His talent is off the charts. Other teams recognize that and prioritize taking him out of the game. In those games Lockett has really benefited. Now Jaxon is emerging to give them 3 solid options. I see a roller coaster of fantasy production from him. You take the highs and lows with him. The highs win you weeks.

Seahawks are funny

DK was enfuego and he didn't get a target the last two drives.

Normally this year it is the opposite. Spread it all over, than go to DK to get in field goal range for the win late.

When I watch him, I am mesmerized. Hes so big its hard to really comprehend. Looks like Calvin Johnson out there.

Geno is ok. DK has limitations

but he is so fun to watch play

DK has not been a guy you start weekly waiting for any upside. He was 29th in standard, and 35th in PPR coming in. You use him when your options are limited. I would have lost numerous games earlier if I would have kept him in the lineup waiting for an explosion. His floor has been very low.

Having said that, it was always clear he is capable of games like this because he is a freak talent in my opinion, but lacks some finesse when it comes to route running. Geno has stunk for the most part, until last night of course.

Congrats to DK owners who stuck him in last night.

DK's kind of been odd in that I drafted him for his big game upside but he's actually been a high targeted solid floor type all year, until last night. I drafted him twice and both teams uncovered some gold at WR in later rounds but I think in total I benched him just once all year between those two leagues, just hard for me to sit someone so heavily targeted most weeks with big play/game potential though I was going to be two last week but could not wait for Flowers status. Anyway I've been happy with his solid play all year even before last night.

After last weeks games Carroll was publicly stating something along the lines of the team needed to refine it's offensive identity and that players were not being put in the best positions to maximize their talent, that they had unique talents at WR and needed pass routes to reflect their talent. Only person he mentioned by name when he said this was JSN so I was anticipating higher use for him, to my untrained eye I can't say I saw a difference on how DK as used, but if they tweaked something I hope they keep it up.

The Seahawks seem like such a high variance offense. Perhaps that’s why they brought in Charbs and Jsn to help keep drives alive and move the chains. Walker seems boom bust. We know Lockett is. Metcalf at times. They don’t really have a high reception guy on the offense. Thought Metcalf could do it with slant routes and chain moving routes but that is definitely limiting what he brings to the table.

When the variance goes our way, look out. Can’t see Metcalf losing us owners many games considering the draft cost but can understand if you have a Dell type in over him

Up to WR18 after his big week in half ppr. I hope that DK can keep it up over the rest of the season in the light of Dell's season-ending injury. I don't like him at SF next week (who would), but he has decent matchups v Phi, @Ten, v Pit weeks 14-16 (playoffs!) if I can make it through next week.

Its kind of amazing to me how little the new coaching staff is being talked about. Seattle is going to be a much more pass heavy (specifically deep if the OL allows it) offense. I think Metcalf is set up very well, and JSN is probably being undervalued slightly as well.
does that mean geno smith is under-valued?
Yeah, probably. I mean, I don't know that he's a fantasy starter in 12-team leagues, but I think he's right there with someone like Herbert, and ahead of guys like Mayfield or Watson in my eyes. I'm not bold enough to put him ahead of Rodgers, but its very much a realistic possibility. I'm not worried about Howell taking the job, unless an injury occurs.

Totally agree. DK is maybe my top value for all formats right now.
I'm finding myself ending up with a lot of DK shares too. Probably my 2nd or 3rd most drafted WR after Deebo and Pickens.

Based on talent, few wrs are on this guys level. I remember watching him play the Titans last year. I knew he was big but my goodness, in real life he is really a man among boys. If that offense gets a slight uptick on pass to run ratio I don't see how he doesnt have a massive year. Wonderful 4th round investment imo.

Until Sam takes over.

why will he take over?

I don't follow college that much, but the year before he came out, local radio said he looked like he'd be a top 5 pick in two years (and we should draft him), then wasn't, then WAS didn't keep him. I tried to acquire him in the leagues where i have Geno and that owner said the same thing as you, nor did that owner want Geno. As a Geno owner, it worries me, but...

talking about getting him more involved in pre-snap motion and higher variety of routes... combined with presumed higher pass:run ratio and he could be a big value right now. sorry to say I've been largely passing on him but probably need to change that.

Reports he was killing it in joint practice today with Titans. I just have that feeling. That tingly feeling Metcalf is about to have career year. I don't have any links or sources.

“DK Metcalf starred Wednesday. Metcalf drifted away from coverage in the back of the end zone during a red-zone scrimmage. Then he leaned away from two defenders, stretched his 6-foot-4, 235-pound frame and long arms and snagged Smith’s pass while keeping both feet inbounds for a touchdown. On the next play, Metcalf got behind 6-foot, Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon in the back right of the end zone. Smith’s throw was perfect, high and away from Witherspoon to where only Metcalf could reach it. He leaped and did, for another TD.”

Gonna be a beast this year.

So far through 3 drafts & 3 dynasty leagues I’ve managed to accumulate 0 shares.
:kicksrock:

Still 3 drafts to go. 🤞🏼

He is one of my guys this year. New offense is going to open so much up for him. The pace increase alone should be big.

Value is always pretty good here. Not an age dropoff yet. But he's a low #1, higYehh #2 and very boom/bust.
I expect him to go nuclear this year. I tried hard to add him in dynasty. No takers.

Fast paced offense, 3-WR sets as the norm - might be 100+ receptions/1500 yards.

Geno will have to cooperate, but… it’s a potential ceiling.
Yeah, no guarantees ofc but the ceiling has been raised.

Yeah, I don't see their defense as improved to the point they won't be in shootouts. The only downside is 49ers 2X, Rams 2X. That said, 49ers weakness is their secondary, and AZ should be a tasty 2 games as well, so it should balance out. I still expect DK to get his. He's a matchup nightmare who can fly. Dude's like a linebacker sprinter who can catch. Honestly surprised he hasn't had a truly dominant season yet, but I think it's coming

I find him slipping a lot in mocks. Don't get it.

Absolutely no one planting their flag on him this year either.

With the new OC I'd think he has a chance at a ceiling year.

6 ft 3 inches. 230lbs. Can prolly still run a 4.4 forty. This guy might have as much physical talent as any wr we have seen outside of Calvin Johnson. He is a bigger and faster Terrell Owens. Crazy. Already been a great NFL wr. He is about to go nuclear for two reasons:

1. Change in offensive philosophy.

2. Bad defense.

Buckle up. Anything under 15 tds will be disappointing to me.

@32BeatWriters
On DK Metcalf: “he had a career-low reception rate of 55.5 percent, which ranked 69th out of 77 qualified receivers, according to TruMedia. Metcalf is targeted on many downfield routes, and he’s often being covered by the opponent’s best cornerback, so he’ll probably never rank among the league leaders in catch rate. But in the past, he’s been closer to the league average, which was 64.5 percent last year. Getting closer to that number will make the offense more effective this season.

…there are a lot of mouths to feed on Seattle’s offense, so Metcalf may not see a significant uptick in targets, which is why the name of the game should be making the most of his opportunities.”
