WR Jakobi Meyers, LV (1 Viewer)

Slot has belonged to Edelman since Welker left. No idea why that would change now.
Isn't Edelman 33 years old? That's pretty long in the tooth and the wheel typically comes off for most receivers much earlier. Doesn't mean this is the year for Edelman--but it certainly is one idea why he might lose the slot role this year.

Beyond his preseason performance, one of the reasons I am buying Meyers now is because the guys in front of him are so old (Edelman and Thomas) and unreliable (Gordon) and the rest have proven to be mediocre.
It’s very possible, but I’ll take 7 targets a game from my 19th round pick and hope there is some upside there. I have no fear of any other WR in Pats camp, it’s a bunch of nobodies, Including Parker. The offense struggling could be a good thing for the slot guy. They will need to pass a bunch and if your line sucks, well you gotta throw short and often. I admit there is lots of hope here, but I think that’s the case for most 18-20th rnd picks.

FWIW FBG has his ADP as 12.04.

He goes farther than that, if he doesn’t, then I don’t get him. It’s not a primary target. It’s an end of the bench long shot type of pick.

Looked it up, 3X in the 16th round so far on my teams.

He's never going to win anybody any fantasy championships. He's a fine NFL success story but I will not lose sleep not having him on any of my teams this year.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jakobi Meyers (knee) is expected to play in Week 1 against the Dolphins.

Meyers got in three limited practices this week, so he should be able to play on a full snap-count to open the year. He led the Patriots with 83 catches for 866 yards in 2021, though he only found the end zone two times. With DeVante Parker in the fold, Meyers' target share could take a hit. Combined with his lack of touchdown output, Meyers enters Week 1 as a WR4 fantasy option.

Jakobi Meyers caught 4-of-6 targets for 55 yards in the Patriots' Week 1 loss to the Dolphins.

On a sad day of offense for New England, Meyers paced the team in targets, catches, and yards. The lone Patriots touchdown came on a short Mac Jones-Ty Montgomery hookup. Meyers is still Mac Jones' favorite target as the slot man, but he's unlikely to be much more than a PPR-based WR4 this season. Meyers gets a date with the Steelers in Week 2.

Patriot snap counts from today.

Parker - 54
Meyers - 47
Agholor - 31
Humphries - 3
Bourne - 2

Given that Bourne is the biggest playmaker of the group, I suspect this will change. Of his two snaps, Bourne had one catch for 41 yards.

Right now it doesn't have to do with his playmaking...Bourne is in the doghouse and has been for a few weeks.

Jakobi Meyers (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Meyers didn't appear limited by the knee issue in Week 2. He went for 95 yards on nine catches while taking the field for 82 percent of New England's offensive snaps. Meyers has led the team in targets in both weeks. If he were to miss anytime, it would be a significant hit to New England's already-weak passing game.

Jakobi Meyers (knee) did not practice Thursday.

Back-to-back DNPs for Meyers make it unlikely he'll play on Sunday against the Ravens, though a promising Friday report could help reel him back to questionable. Meyers had 13 targets in Week 2 and would be a solid PPR WR3 option if he plays. The Matt Patricia Patriots are a tough offense to put a lot of trust in our reads in at this point, but DeVante Paker and Hunter Henry could benefit from a Meyers absence.

Jakobi Meyers (knee) is questionable for Week 3's game against Baltimore.

Meyers managed to get in a limited practice on Friday for the first time this week, so he's trending in the right direction heading into the weekend. New England's PPR wunderkind has led the team in targets in each week and has a total of 19 in two games. If there's anything the Matt Patricia offense is good at, it's funneling targets to Meyers.

If there's anything the Matt Patricia offense is good at, it's funneling targets to Meyers

Yeah, this is not correct. Meyers led them in targets last year when Patricia was nowhere to be found. McDaniels funneled him the ball also. So maybe it's more of a function of rookie quarterback and playing slot and being adept at settling into zone coverage.

This isn't an argument that Meyers is great. This is just saying that not only is he not a PPR "wunderkind" (I had him in PPR last year and he's tough to start) he's also a bit better than people give credit for. He won't win your league, but he is a WR4/5.

Had Meyers last year and watch all Pats games. He's a good player but a horribly frustrating fantasy player. You'll never play him on the right weeks, despite the targets being there and the matchup seeming right. The Pats passing offense leaves a lot to be desired. His overall numbers aren't bad but no one is going to trade for him so he can't help you there. He's destined to be the guy you pick up, MAYBE start in dire straights, get frustrated with, and then drop back to the WW for the next guy to do the same.

Jakobi Meyers (knee) is inactive for Week 3 against the Ravens.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier in the morning that Meyers was likely to miss this week's matchup, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. Wide receiver DeVante Parker and tight end Hunter Henry could see a bit more work in this one with Meyers officially sidelined. The Patriots also ruled out FS Kyle Duggar, DT Sam Roberts, LB Raekwon McMIllan, QB Bailey Zappe and CB Shaun Wade.

Since I play in a league where you're essentially starting eight receivers (hyperbole), I was interested in his status. Sucks.

Jakobi Meyers caught all four of his targets for 60 yards in the Patriots' Week 6 win over the Browns.

Meyers also drew a pair of defensive pass interference calls that won't show up in the box score. The Browns' defense got beat for long gains by most of the Patriots' starters, so Bailey Zappe didn't have to rely on Meyers to move the chains. When he did, things obviously went well. Meyers has at least 55 yards in all four of his appearances this year. His volume should rebound in Week 7 against the Bears. He continues to pace for WR2 numbers.

Jakobi Meyers caught 5-of-6 targets for 42 yards in the Patriots' Week 9 win over the Colts.

Meyers had a quiet day with his biggest impact play of the game being a lost fumble, on a nice defensive play by the Colts. The Patriots' passing game wasn't needed a ton with the Colts struggling badly on the other side, which was a relief, because they struggled to get anything going all day. Meyers is on bye in Week 10 and then gets a difficult matchup against a tough Jets secondary. He is getting a big enough share of the passing game to remain a FLEX starter, but is limited by the overall quality of this passing game.

This is what I hate about week to week updates. Last week he's a wr2, this week he's a startable flex.

Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) went to the locker room in the first quarter of the Patriots' Week 12 game against the Vikings.

Meyers secured an impressive catch on New England's first offensive play of the game. After hitting the ground hard, he was helped off the field and into the medical tent. He then left for the locker room and was later spotted entering the x-ray room. He was eventually listed as questionable with a shoulder injury.

Jakobi Meyers said he's confident his shoulder injury isn't a long-term issue.

Meyers injured his shoulder on the first play from scrimmage in Thursday night's loss to the Vikings, and re-aggravated the injury in the second half. Meyers was limited to gotta-have-it third down situations in the second half against Minnesota. He finished the game with three receptions for 62 yards. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on Meyers' Week 13 practice participation to make sure the shoulder issue doesn't linger.

Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) was limited in practice Tuesday.

Meyers has gone back-to-back limited practices after saying the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 12 wasn't a "long-term issue." He's probably going to be on the questionable line for Thursday night. Meyers profiles as a PPR WR3 if he's able to suit up.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 13 against the Bills.

Meyers made it through three limited practices this week and is officially questionable, but it's not a surprise that he's active as he told reporters he didn't think the injury was serious after last Thursday's game. He'll be a PPR WR3 in a tough matchup against the Bills pass defense.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is expected to play in Week 15 against the Raiders.

Meyers missed Week 14 because of the concussion but got in a pair of limited practices this week. Once officially active, Meyers will rank as a strong WR3 option. He gets a Vegas defense that sixth-most passing yards to opposing teams this year.

Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is active for Week 15 against the Raiders.

Meyers only got in two limited practices during the week, but it was enough to get him back in the lineup after he missed Week 14. With all 32 teams active for the first week of the fantasy playoffs and the Patriots' targets delineation getting increasingly confusing, Meyers feels like more of a WR4 than WR3 in Vegas.

ESPN's Mike Reiss writes Jakobi Meyers "might project" to get a contract near what Christian Kirk got last offseason.

Reiss believes Meyers, who he notes has had one fewer catch over his first four years in the NFL than Kirk did, will likely sign a deal worth $15-$20 million per season. Kirk signed with the Jaguars for four years, $72 million, with $37 million in guarantees. Reiss notes that this is a huge hinge point for the Patriots offseason. We'd be a little surprised to see Meyers pull down this kind of contract, but the free-agent class at wideout is so weak that we can't entirely rule it out.

Jakobi could not have picked a better year to be a FA...the cupboard is very bare...he is a solid player and can help any team, but no way am I giving him $ close to what Kirk got...the key to a player like him is they don't make a lot...once they do they lose all their value because the upside is limited...he needs to be replaced but hopefully the Pats let him walk and use the $ elsewhere.

The problem for NE is Meyers only made $6.4M total in the four years he was a Patriot. They don’t have much money from him to spend elsewhere. Luckily, Agholor’s contract ran out, so between what they paid him and Meyers, that’s $18-19M. There really aren’t many noteworthy free agent receivers, so their best bet is to trade for one. A WR group of mystery WR1, Parker, Bourne, and Thornton might be interesting. I know people are big on them drafting a stud receiver early, but IMO they need OL help more (and their hit rate on drafting receivers is not great). I think I’d rather they traded their #1 than draft a receiver there (like they did with Cooks) if they decided receiver was a huge position of need. But If I were stocking the cupboards, I would work on the OL first. They need two tackles.

Agreed...unfortunately they are in a spot where for the offense to really get to the next level they need to address both...but if you don't get the O line squared away it really won't matter what you do at WR...especially when you factor in a QB who is not overly mobile...hopefully Thornton takes a big step forward and can get close to the quality #2 level because we pretty much know what Parker and Bourne are.

Almost forgot about Jones. Some folks are saying he could be integrated a lot more and he could become “the guy.” Doubt it, but it’s a thought.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Patriots "haven't made very much progress" on a contract extension for Jakobi Meyers.

He added, "it sounds like Meyers will hit the market when it officially opens March 15." ESPN's Mike Reiss previously speculated that Meyers could fetch a deal similar to Christian Kirk's on the open market. That would see Meyers making $18 million per year. New England has the cap spaced necessary to bring their leading receiver back at that price, but they seemingly don't view it as the best way to spend their limited resources. Unless the contract offers from other teams fall short of Meyers' expectations, it looks like he is set to play for a new team in 2023.

Mike Giardi

Per league sources, Jakobi Meyers free agency will be interesting. No one views him on the high scale ($15M+), but $12M - $14M is "definitely in play." Belief is #Patriots will let him see what's out there, but hope he comes back to them for final conversation.

@JoeSteeler - I’m requesting a thread title update on this one.

Raiders signed WR Jakobi Meyers, formerly of the Patriots, to a three-year contract worth $33 million.

Meyers, one of the top receivers in free agency, will get $21 million guaranteed. Meyers’ 2022 campaign wasn’t dramatically different than the previous two seasons. He had a similar average depth of target, yards per route run, and yards per catch. In the context of the miserable 2022 New England offense, Meyers’ production (67 catches for 803 yards and six touchdowns) was impressive. In Vegas, he'll function as the clearcut No. 2 receiver behind target hog Davante Adams. Meyers will likely see ample usage in the slot as a Raider. He could suffice as a decent WR3 for fantasy purposes in 2023.

I think Meyers is getting seriously slept in. Finally a no2 wr in his offense so he's not drawing top cbs, with a qb who wants more than anything to check down, some of the surest hands in the game... I can see him easily getting into the top 20 in ppr and being an incredibly safe weekly floor play.

Jakobi Meyers caught 9-of-10 targets for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders’ Week 1 win over the Broncos.

Meyers took the brunt of a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the fourth quarter and did not return. He was immediately entered into the league’s concussion protocol. Before his exit, Meyers led the team in receiving and scored both of their touchdowns and appeared ready to make good on the three-year, $33 million free agent contract he signed this offseason.

Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers is being evaluated for a concussion after Sunday’s Week 1 win over the Broncos.

Meyers had a solid outing (9-81-2) in his Raiders debut, but exited late in the fourth quarter after a devastating helmet-to-helmet hit. We’ll know more on his Week 2 status later in the week, but he could be at risk of missing next week’s matchup against the Bills. If he’s unable to go, rookie Tre Tucker or Kristian Wilkerson could be tasked with replacing Meyers on the outside.

Raiders HC Josh McDaniels said Jakobi Meyers is in concussion protocol.

This was the expected outcome for Meyers, who took a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the fourth quarter and immediately left the field. Meyers caught nine passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders’ Week 1 win over the Broncos, but will now have to clear protocol before Sunday’s Week 2 matchup against the Bills. If Meyers is unable to go, Kristian Wilkerson could be tasked with replacing him on the outside.

Raiders HC Josh McDaniels said Jakobi Meyers is still in the concussion protocol but is “headed in the right direction.”

Meyers missed Sunday’s contest against the Bills after being concussed in the Week 1 opener. It’s possible Meyers will be cleared in time for the Raiders’ Week 3 matchup against the Steelers, but if he can’t go, it will be Kristian Wilkerson and Hunter Renfrow splitting targets with Davante Adams. Neither Wilkerson or Renfrow would be on the radar, as the two receivers combined for one target in Week 2.
