WR Michael Wilson, ARZ (3 Viewers)

I got him on really important BB tournament team where I could really use him this week, especially after Kupp let me down.

I would not have confidence to put him in a starting lineup this week, but I'm not going to lie that I was glad to see Brown ruled out and Dortch ailing because he's got a legit shot to do something this week.

Finished well in his last two games of the season. 10 catches on 12 targets 130 yards and 1 TD. High snap count for every game fit and a multi TD game early on in the season. I think next year he’s got a really good chance to be part of the 1-2 punch with McBride. I think if he hadn’t had that spell out mid season this year he would have really progressed

How do we feel about Wilson if the Cardinals draft MHJ? That would put Wilson behind MHJ and McBride in the order it would seem.

I really wouldn’t mind this, as he will be locked in as part of the 1-2-3 punch in the starting lineup and as previously stated will probably receive the least amount of attention out of the 3.

And he will receive the least amount of targets as well.

Don’t forget James Conner usually gets between 3-5 targets a game too.

"One name I wouldn’t sleep on offensively would be Michael Wilson, who already looks like a seasoned pro coming off a promising rookie year—reminding some on a staff full of guys who once coached in Minnesota a little bit of Adam Thielen in that he’s big, smart and consistent"

With McBride probably out, is Wilson a decent start vs the Commanders? Vegas has it as the highest scoring game of the week at 49.5.

I'm starting him. He had 8-64 on 9 targets last week with McBride gone most of the game. I expect similar at least if not a few more targets his and MHJs way.

He would be worth more if he was listed as a TE this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if McBride played though. I remember some crazy stat last year about players leaving early with concussions, very few played the next week.

SF will give McBride a lot of attention, which one would think would open the door for someone else to have a big game. That said, I feel like I've been down the "Wilson train" before and he's let me down. Not in this exact scenario, but I had high hopes for him even going back to drafting him in dynasty rookie drafts. He's been too inconsistent to start for the most part, and this year he's still looking for his first week with more than 4 catches. Wilson has also surpassed 45 yards receiving just once this year (DAL in Week 9 - 3/61). One could argue that he's quite possibly the least fantasy-relevant WR2 in the NFL, at least on paper. And, if that's not accurate, it's very close.

All of THAT said, I'm cautiously optimistic that things will be different with Brissett throwing him the ball and I'm starting him at a flex position in TWO leagues with utmost confidence. OK, maybe not utmost, but a little bit of confidence. Well, actually, I don't have a lot of other options (Meyers, Jeudy, Lockett, etc.), so I'm going all-in on Mr. Wilson.

Side note... Wilson does have a pretty positive history in limited games against SF. In three games against the Niners, he surpassed 75 yards in two of them (those two games are both in his top four in terms of receiving yards for his career). He also has 2 of his 8 career TD's against SF (both in the same game in 2023). So, maybe he can channel up some positive vibes/memories and have a semi-breakout game tonight. 🙏

Was coming in to say same thing.
McBride will be the focal point of San Frans D.
Dortch n Wilson will be the beneficiaries of it.
With no running game Arizona will have to throw to keep up.

If Murray was starting at QB I NEVER wld be starting Wilson. At least Jacoby can hit open receivers and see over lineman.
Wilson a round 2 pick has great chance to shine this week.

For some reason, I feel like Dortch might be the sneaky play here (and he might end up with the most targets/receptions), but I'm still rolling with Wilson who I think has more redzone upside and big-play potential, if that makes sense. Wouldn't surprise me at all if both have decent games, especially if ARI falls behind at all. Would be a different story if Benson were back. Without him and Conner, their running game has been pretty hit and miss. They'll have to throw to win this game, IMO.

McBride is going to effectively be WR1.
Can't think of very many 6 ft 4 inch 250 lb wrs. He makes Calvin Johnson look small. Ha ha. I get what your saying though. Double digit targets and the focal point of the passing attack coming.

San Fran will take him out of the game plan. They know he's the only true weapon.
It should leave Wilson free to roam and get more targets.

Arizona will be playing from behind,so maybe bunch of garbage time points for Wilson.. He should get 7-8 targets.

He won't get any targets if he's in Rome.

He’s a good player, it’s a shame they can’t get him the ball more when Harrison is playing, you’d think that would allow him to get more open

Currently 13 of 15 for 170

Oh heck, no bump? Harrison is out with an appendectomy. Free WR1, for what it's worth.
@rockaction

Thank you so much for this post. He was getting no mention in the fbg material and projected for 10 pts. I snagged him off the wire in ibl and started. Probably will net a few wins over 6 donuts as Chase and Flacco were horrible starts for me.

15/185 in a 41-22 BLOWOUT!
-I bet the first thing the coaching staff discusses on Monday is how they can get more targets to Michael Wilson
They only lost by 3 Touchdowns

Hey, I’m not being sarcastic when I say I’m glad it helped you out for IBL and that it struck me as enough of an unrecognized opportunity for me to post something. I posted on a lark, but sometimes a lot of truth is cloaked in confusion and humor. Brissett is playing good enough to support his receivers for real football and FF purposes and I had read somewhere that Wilson’s way of winning routes was conducive to having success with a guy who can finally throw him the ball with timing and over the defensive line instead of the right-left scramble of Kyler.

Sort of sad, but you must be this tall to ride this ride.

Wilson definitely earned more target share even when Harrison returns.
Hoping Harrison out game against Jags,so Wilson can solify his role.

No reason Jacoby can't support 3 receivers in McBride, Harrison n Wilson, since Arizona can't run the ball. Even when Bensons back,it's now a pass first offense.

I think Harrison n Wilson will trade off having big weeks from here on out.
Wilson won't just disappear once Harrison returns. He was starting to come on the last 4 weeks prior.
It's not like Wilson is a 5th rounder. He's a day 2 pick.

Teams top corners will be on McBride n Harrison leaving Wilson with the worst corner in coverage .

I don't see Wilson going away after Yesterdays breakout.

Year 2 breakout is in progress!!!?

He is in year three, and this was a perfect game script, missing multiple backs and the team's number one receiver. Plus watch him play. He doesn't look fast, or fluid. He can be decent until Harrison comes back, but at best he is a low end wr three and can work as bye week filler or in good spots like this. It is very unlikely he ever becomes a big fantasy asset.

Obviously Wilson isn’t capable of this week’s results on a regular basis, but IMO it is a repeatable event. Wilson has some strong talent but is in absolutely the wrong setting to take advantage of it. AZ’s staff apparently does not recognize his capabilities and he is tethered to a very limited QB who simply is incapable of operating a functional passing game.

It would be nice to see either AZ gain a lot more credibility in their passing offense or see Wilson in a much more pass friendly venue and see what he can really roll out. It’s such a shame seeing his talent squandered so badly.
