I'm likely taking out either Goodwin or Agholor and going with 2 cheaper WRs. Everyone has Goodwin so I may drop him, whereas Agholor has equal upside IMO. 
 

Boom or bust decision.  Goodwin is by far the best value based on predictions and what I have seen this preseason and the end of last year.  Goodwin's cost is between $8-10 lower than the other WR with similar predictions.  

If you don't believe he will live up to those predictions, then leaving him off your team would be the right call.  But if you leave him off your team and he meets or exceeds those predictions, you will often find yourself playing from behind....Goodwin will be one of the highest owned WR, so you could find yourself playing from behind a lot of teams.

What makes the situation really interesting is that although the consensus is that Jimmy G walks on water, there is a huge standard deviation on the whole situation.  I lean to believing the hype, but anyone who tells you its a foregone conclusion is smoking the good stuff.

6 of the top 11 teams last year (top 10 subscribers, plus Clayton Gray, the top staffer) averaged under $10 per receiver.   4 of those averaged under $9 per receiver. If you have enough of the "right" WR2s, you can do just fine.

Very interesting.  I have been thinking that I need 1 stud WR such as Hopkins, 1 WR2 and down from there. The same with RB.

Murray has been on/off this team a lot - probably should spend that $7 elsewhere.

CLE has been on every one of my iterations as well and I was disappointed to see them destroy the Eagles last week - if they weren't going to be the most owned defense before that showing, they were certainly added to a bunch of rosters after that performance.  I missed the Rams in my main redraft league so I'm paying up for them in this contest.  I've never rolled with 2 defense before, but I like both of these Ds and it's not always about value at every position (did I just say that out loud? )

FYI - Hurst has a stress fracture in his foot and will have to have a screw inserted in his foot. He's likely out for at least Week 1.

That'll free up $6.  Maybe you can use that to upgrade elsehwere.  For a 1-for-1, it'll get you something like Brees over Smith.  And, if you choose to drop Murray like you said, that'll be $13.  That could get you from Cooks to Julio Jones, if you wanted a top WR.  I think currently I have 9 of your guys, so me likey.

Same issue for me....Get Gronk, middle tier guy, and cheap flyer or Go with 2 middle tier guys (like Burton and Njoku) with a cheap flyer and be able to upgrade to an elite WR.

I don't think the dfs analogy applies here.  It only takes one week of Goodwin posting 10-150-2 and you likely get swamped.  The first 12 weeks aren't about being the highest scoring team, you just don't want to be the lowest.  The only way you really gain an advantage is if Goodwin gets hurt early in the year.  If you own him and he get hurt early in the year, well some huge percentage of the field is in the same boat.

Risk for sure. But I honestly think Reed can put up top 5 numbers if healthy and Watson is serviceable (considering he’s less than 1/3 the price).

Well after sitting onnthe same roster for weeks, last night I blew it all up. I realized my roster was very similar to my high stakes teams and I don’t like the idea of having all my eggs clustered around the same 10-15 players. I’m using the subscriber contest to hedge against my real fantasy teams. It’s refreshing having an almost entirely new set of players.

This is a good point where it may be beneficial to own him. I'm concerned that Garcon is back. Sure, it doesn't mean JimmyG can't have a favorite target, but I don't think Goodwin gets roughly 25% of the targets with him back. 

I will probably end up trying to find some money to score both Goodwin and Corey Davis on my team, as I think both are severely under valued. Both have potential for a stat line of 85/1500. Davis I think has greater potential for double digit TDs, whereas if you take Goodwin's stats with JimmyG and project them out to 16 games last year, you get 3 TDs.

Look at how many 2$ kickers are already fired or injured. They are not worth it this year and I was one of the huge pushers to bring back the 2$ kickers after it went to 3$ as the lowest bid.

Let's talk about kickers, and forget about the contest for a moment.  When we are drafting kickers in fantasy, what are we looking for?  For me, in order of priority, it is:

1) Job security - I want that warm fuzzy my kicker won't be replaced during the season.

2) Good offense - It's a given that the highest scoring teams produce the highest scoring kickers.  I don't think anyone will argue this.

3) Quality of kicker - Can this guy actually kick?  A good kicker typically has a very high percentage of extra points and short FG's

4) Distance FG's - Will the K's team let him attempt long FG's?  Some teams opt to punt or go for it on 4th down, based on the K's leg.  There have also been years where a team's K2 attempts all the really long FG's.

5) Weather/Dome - Lastly, I would prefer if my kicker plays in nicer weather, or in a dome.  This is more of a tiebreaker between equal kickers.

Now with that all said, let's get back to the subscriber contest.  Last year, 13 of the the top 25 teams carried 2 K's, and the other 12 carried 3 K's.  Based on my priorities, a few kickers represent real value this year.  FWIW, I will be carrying 2 K's that are $3 each.

If you’re only going with 5 WRs, you need more consistent options IMO.  Like instead of Brandin Cooks someone more like Jarvis Landry. Jordy Nelson and Allen Hurn are not guys I would want to have to rely on.  But mainly there are so many cheap WR options out there that I don’t see why you couldn’t throw a couple more cheap guys in there.

In this contest, that doesn't matter.  Points and yards given up don't count for or against you.  You want the team that will get the most turnovers and sacks.  Chicago just got a sack machine.

If you’re only going with 5 WRs, you need more consistent options IMO.  Like instead of Brandin Cooks someone more like Jarvis Landry. Jordy Nelson and Allen Hurn are not guys I would want to have to rely on.  But mainly there are so many cheap WR options out there that I don’t see why you couldn’t throw a couple more cheap guys in there.  

I'll certainly look at it. Guess I wanted Cooks as the stack option with Goff. And I have heard nothing bad, just absolute glowing praise, from the Raiders about Jordy Nelson and how well he's meshing with Carr. Not sure I'm all that big on Beast Mode & the Oakland running game at this stage so I'm thinking they'll be throwing. A lot. We've seen before that Carr can air it out. I can see Cooper & Nelson both having big years. And again, Nelson is the stack option w/ Carr. Hurns - I understand he's a little more risky, but, to me, also has a lot of upside. He also has a BYE week apart from the others which was also what I was looking at. But I do agree that there are some $6-7 dollar guys worth a look and I will re-evaluate the L/U.

I have had them the whole time. They were an up and coming defense last year and thought they could be a top 5ish defense this year. Now every one will have them.

Trying to break down the D position here, so bear with me.  This is certainly open for discussion, and I am hoping for some feedback on my thought process.  First, let me just say, 16 of last year's top 25 finishers had only 2 D's.  Eight teams carried 3, and one had 4.

For this year's contest, sacks are 1 point, and turnovers (INT & fumble recovery) are 2 points.  Obviously, TD's are 6 points, but are very hard to predict.  For all the ways for a D to score points, which one is the easiest to predict?  For me, it's sacks, followed by interceptions.  All other D points can vary wildly from game to game, and year to year.  In 2017, there were only 6 teams that finished in the top 10 in both sacks and INT's.

I'm a firm believer that history repeats itself, as long as the status quo remains the same.  In regards to D's, that obviously means player personnel.  With that in mind, I have chosen to roster just 2 defenses, totaling $9.
