Why are the LV Raiders being written off like they have no future?
The team went to the Playoffs despite a boatload of heartache and leadership fired mid season i might add and they managed to pull it together.
-All teams need to improve and LVR is no different, what's the plan according to the fans? You don't need a rebuild, who do you continue to build stronger around? Wilson arrives, now the Division is a little tougher but you all knew this was going to be a difficult ERA with Mahomes and Herbert, the Raiders have got to be stronger in their OL/DL than those other teams to control the games better.
-Is trading Carr really a great idea? Not sure you all have the right coach either running the ship but many of you might feel different.
Derek Carr has the respect of people in the NFL (GMs & coaches) and those who have played football and understand the game. That's why, every offseason we hear about teams' interest in acquiring him. Hes a very good QB, that with a good Oline can make all throws. It's the media and 50% of the fanbase, who don't understand that football is still a team game that think Carr is inadequate. (See Mahomes running for his life in the SB vs the Bucs, every QB needs a solid Oline)
A good organization can win a Super Bowl with Derek Carr. And there are at least 10-12 teams that would kill to have him.
Rich Biscaccia didn't get a HC gig because NFL bigwigs know the reason the Raiders made the playoffs was due to DCs leadership and play. Coach B should get a lot of credit for being the "glue" that kept them together, but its Carr and guys like Crosby, Miller, Jacobs and Perryman that willed this team into the playoffs.
I think the reason they're being written off is they are in transition, again....
Essentially the defense has to be rebuilt, and a new scheme taught and new players brought in again to learn a completely new defense than what Gus Bradley installed. There's a lot more questions than answers in early March.
The offense I'm not worried about as much as the D. Yes, Carr and the crew have to learn a new scheme, but he's proven he's capable of doing that. They need a few peices on the Oline and WR, but I'm sure they will be addressed through the draft and free agency.
I'm confident they will be competitive most weeks. Will they make the playoffs? Tough to say right now, anything can happen, injuries do happen, as we all learned last year, crazy #@!% can and will happen.
What I learned last year, is really all we as fans can ask for is a playoff run, and with Derek Carr, they are definitely capable of doing that.
