2023 FBG Subscriber Contest (2 Viewers)

@Joe Bryant here's a new one for you, lol. My wife has had an account and played in the contest 2 of the last 3 years...and is playing this year.

However, she just registered a forum username today and is waiting for administrator approval until she can post.

Hence, I'm logging her lineup here for $100 sidebet purposes...her forum username is TrishaRita.

Team breakdown and strategy -
2 QB - $35
5 RB - $72
6 WR - $93
2 TE - $35
3 PK - $9
2 TD - $6

My reasoning for picking players is probably a tad different from the usual as I focused on bye weeks (I avoid week 14 at all costs).

Start with a top tier QB and don't change it for any reason whatsoever. Cannot have more than 1 other week 10 bye in any of my top 3 RB/WR/TE. Obviously backup QB needs a different bye week and upside with good pass-catchers.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10

Next three choices are an RB, WR and TE that have good value, but top 10 scoring ability. Only 1 can match up with my QB bye week. Chose the Goedert/Hurts hookup.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18

No more week 10 picks for my next 3 RBs, 3 WRs or backup TE. Easier to go ahead and select my backup TE now that I have my #1 picked. I chose to pick another top tier TE because it will be easy to change that later if needed for extra $$ or bye week conflicts. Chose Waller due to the obvious upside in which 50% of the other rosters agree.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17

Now lets choose our #1 WR then RB. Cannot have week 6, 10 or 13 bye. Best value picks seemed to be Mixon and St. Brown based on the cost of their possible points/upside. Both have ability to crack top 6 in their position.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17

Next are the RB 2, WR2 in that order since RB1 cost was much less than WR1 cost. Bye weeks cannot be week 6, 7, 9, 10 or 13....so 5 and 11 are it. Shooting for ability to be top 20 RB and top 15 WR. Olave should be better this season if Thomas stays healthy and equalizes the coverage. Not afraid of Charbonnet.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
WR - Chris Olave - NO/11 - $27
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17

Next up are my WR3, WR4 and then RB3 and RB4. Only limitation on bye weeks now is no Week 10 at this point since that's my only week doubled-up. Chose to pair my backup QB with Pickens, who I think will be his top WR option this season. Next is the one of the cheaper team WR2 options on the board with Elijah Moore.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
WR - Chris Olave - NO/11 - $27
WR - George Pickens - PIT/6 - $15
WR - Elijah Moore - CLE/5 - $11
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17

WR bye weeks are now 5, 6, 9, 11. Only one of my next 2 RB choices can overlap with those 4 bye weeks. Kamara is obvious to us all as a cheap value that could be a decent RB2 this season. Not bad for my RB3. Now my RB bye weeks are 5, 7, 11. RB4 cannot be week 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 for weekly flex consideration. Leaves weeks 10, 13 and 14 as possibilites and I try to avoid the last two due to weekly cutoff % changing. Went with another RB that has RB2 ability and only has a rookie as competition for at least the first 4 weeks: Mostert.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
RB - Alvin Kamara - NO/11 - $15
RB - Raheem Mostert - MIA/10 - $10
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
WR - Chris Olave - NO/11 - $27
WR - George Pickens - PIT/6 - $15
WR - Elijah Moore - CLE/5 - $11
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17

I now have 12 players with 1 week 5, 2 week 6, 1 week 7, 1 week 9, 2 week 10, 2 week 11, 1 week 13 and 0 week 14 byes. $29 left to spend. I chose to go send $9 for 3 kickers and $6 for 2 defenses and their bye weeks don't matter as long as they are different.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
RB - Alvin Kamara - NO/11 - $15
RB - Raheem Mostert - MIA/10 - $10
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
WR - Chris Olave - NO/11 - $27
WR - George Pickens - PIT/6 - $15
WR - Elijah Moore - CLE/5 - $11
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17
PK - Dustin Hopkins - CLE/5 - $3
PK - Ka'imi Fairbairn - HOU/7 - $3
PK - Cairo Santos - CHI/13 - $3
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/9 - $3
TD - Los Angeles Chargers - LAC/5 - $3

$14 left to spend any way I want with 17 players on my roster. I want 1 RB and 1 WR from the $3 and $4 price range that have a chance to crack my weekly Flex scores. Bye weeks don't matter, but I'll try to make them different if I can. Went with Moss due to the Colts RB uncertainty. He's injured, but should be back soon and saw plenty of time on the field late last season even with Taylor healthy (or so we were told). Tank Dell has been a preseason star and doesn't have much competition in Houston. Should see plenty of time on the field. Worth a shot at $3 and his bye week is different from all the other WR's.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
RB - Alvin Kamara - NO/11 - $15
RB - Raheem Mostert - MIA/10 - $10
RB - Zack Moss - IND/11 - $4
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
WR - Chris Olave - NO/11 - $27
WR - George Pickens - PIT/6 - $15
WR - Elijah Moore - CLE/5 - $11
WR - Tank Dell - HOU/7 - $3
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17
PK - Dustin Hopkins - CLE/5 - $3
PK - Ka'imi Fairbairn - HOU/7 - $3
PK - Cairo Santos - CHI/13 - $3
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/9 - $3
TD - Los Angeles Chargers - LAC/5 - $3

$7 left and that can either go to a WR or TE. Upside/value/cost over bye week, but I will look at the bye weeks I don't have first: 10, 13, 14. Chose to go with MVS due to his late-season rise in production. He's a weekly deep-threat for a long TD. Also considered spending the last $7 between Week 13 Shakir at $4 and Week 14 Wilson at $3, but wanted to stick with just 1 rookie. Also tossing around Musgrave/Ferguson at $6 and bumping a $3 PK up to $4.

QB - Jalen Hurts - PHI/10 - $25
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
RB - Alvin Kamara - NO/11 - $15
RB - Raheem Mostert - MIA/10 - $10
RB - Zack Moss - IND/11 - $4
WR - Amon-Ra St. Brown - DET/9 - $30
WR - Chris Olave - NO/11 - $27
WR - George Pickens - PIT/6 - $15
WR - Elijah Moore - CLE/5 - $11
WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - KC/10 - $7
WR - Tank Dell - HOU/7 - $3
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/10 - $18
TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17
PK - Dustin Hopkins - CLE/5 - $3
PK - Ka'imi Fairbairn - HOU/7 - $3
PK - Cairo Santos - CHI/13 - $3
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/9 - $3
TD - Los Angeles Chargers - LAC/5 - $3

Final bye weeks for offensive players:
5 - 2
6 - 2
7 - 2
9 - 1
10 - 4 (all different positions)
11 - 3
13 - 1
14 - 0

Decided to make the move from MVS to Ferguson and +$1 on a PK. I'm done, walking away, leaving town, turning off the lights, hiding my glasses and I just may end up in handcuffs.

❓How many weeks did all of you guys survive in this contest last year ❓

I know a couple of you made the finals, and I'm trying to remember who.

I got bounced in week 11 last year, with 2 key players out with injuries and 3 players on BYE that week, coupled with the Roberto Blankenship fiasco.

Looking back.... had I not been eliminated in week 11, I would have made it to the finals, making the cut by 21, 31, and 42 points in weeks 12, 13, and 14. I hope I can somehow do better this year, but I'm not too optimistic at this point. I haven't been able to roser a lineup I'm really happy with. It seems like it's been harder this year (for me anyway) to identify value players.
How did you keep track of your score? I wish the system would continue to tell me my weekly score after I miss the cut.

Would post commentary but going cross-eyed from constantly tweaking. Perhaps later.

I use my pantened quizzomatic which has a human interface that links with the yahoo sports with an excel feature. Alas the quizzomatic has a 1-user limit.

(others have made fancier things in the past - but I am not sure that there is a current one)

As a reminder, for those wishing to compete for Joe's extra $100, you cannot edit the post that has your final lineup in it. Also, once the contest closes, I will ask for contest team numbers to verify lineups have not changed. Then I will post a weekly list of all who are still in it.

In for the bonus contest.

Usually, I go for an 18 size roster but went for 21 this year as I spent less on TE than normal. Kamara was in every lineup submission as he is one of the most underpriced players. If your lineup cannot handle being without him for 3 weeks, your team isn't going anywhere. Waller was also in almost every lineup.

Traded out Mahomes for Herbert and Moss as I wanted the early QB bye since I am going cheap on QB2 and Moss has a path to big value.

Moss, Michael Wilson and $2 in kickers would normally have been traded for a more useful $9 player or a TE upgrade but I ran into a lot of bye week issues and I felt the $15-$21 TEs other than Waller were overpriced and/or too likely to miss time so I went with popular dart throws at rb/wr and $4 kickers instead.

Your team has been successfully entered.

QB - Justin Herbert - LAC/5 - $21
QB - Sam Howell - WAS/14 - $8

RB - Christian McCaffrey - SF/9 - $34
RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - James Cook - BUF/13 - $18

Here's my 2023 entry. It's based somewhat on lessons learned last year, although there is no guarantee that it plays out to any advantage. I'm not exactly comfortable with it and I know I'm weak at WR, but that's partially because I dumped one receiver to add an additional TE for better overall value. I went Stud and Dud on QB, hoping it gives me a better floor each week, and I do think Pickett may surprise some people this year. He definitely has the supporting cast, as well as a much better offensive line. He has Johnson, Pickens, Freiermuth, and Robinson for receivers, as well as (the 'other ' Calvin), Calvin Austin, who was a promising 4th round pick last year but missed the entire season after an injury in camp. Perhaps PIckett would have done better last year if he had not had to spend half of his time in the backfield scrambling for his life. Hopefully he will do well enough to fill in on the bye week and also provide some decent weekly numbers in case Mahommes had some bad weeks. I may have overspent on RB for what I got, but I wanted to roster 2 that I felt would likely count each week. I feel good about TE and I'm hoping to get a flex score from a TE most weeks. I normally do only $3 kickers, but I don't want another Roberto Blankenship fiasco, so I spent an extra dollar there. Defenses were chosen based on fitting the bye weeks and also having some of the easiest schedules. I ended up with a roster of 24, although I'm not sure I wouldn't have been better off consolidating a couple players to get another better WR. I know that statistically you are better off with a larger linup, but it's difficult to feel like you have en ough scorers if you do. My last dilemma was should I dump one of my $3 lottery tickets in favor of a 3rd defense. I couldn't make up my mind so I opted not to (unless I change my mind before midnight). So that said, this is my dice roll for 2023.

Was wondering - did anyone think about rostering all 5 Giants WR's for $24?

Can't say I did THAT though I did consider them individually and had Slayton in there for a while.
This will be an interesting subplot to track - though it'd be pretty funny if they all consistently put up like 8.5 points apiece and basically get in each other's way.

I only asked because their WR corps is very much like last year, and if you had rostered the top 5 (Slayton, Robinson, Hodgins, James, Shepard), you would've only had two games below 9.9 points. Basically, a very consistent $24 WR with a great floor.

I want to echo some of the other players, that this year's values were hard to find. Whoever did the pricing did a very fair job, and didn't leave much low hanging fruit. One small exception to that is it seems the pricing was a bit low for Jags and Browns players. I had to resist loading up on them.

My three "gambles" feel like Tua, Kamara, and Evans. If things break well for them, they could offer immense value. However, there is clear injury/regression risk with rostering them.

Overall I am happy with my roster, and as with every year, building this lineup really helped me prepare for my other drafts. So a big thanks to Turk and Joe for putting this together. Good luck to everyone, I hope to see you all in week 16!

Alright break down of what SHOULD be my final rooster (it's the same as the one above - this is just the big 'ol breakdown post):

QB - 2 for $31

QB - Joe Burrow - CIN/7 - $21
QB - Kenny Pickett - PIT/6 - $10

Still hate going 2 QB but it generally seems to be the risk to take on here and frankly the very low dollar options just seem like such throwaways. Joey B is my guy and I have to have him especially at this kind of price point. Pickett was on exactly zero of my permutations or even preliminary thoughts still I saw him in the thread and ran the numbers a bit more. Week 6 is such a great bye and it does really seem like he should take the next step - at least compared to Love who's got virtually no game action and Howell who feels like a pure gamble. I hate the Steelers lol but I am resigned to doing this ;)

RB - 6 for $86

RB - Christian McCaffrey - SF/9 - $34
RB - Kenneth Walker III - SEA/5 - $19
RB - Khalil Herbert - CHI/13 - $13
RB - Tank Bigsby - JAX/9 - $9
RB - Kenneth Gainwell - PHI/10 - $8
RB - Chris Evans - CIN/7 - $3

For the longest time this was gonna be 5 - my original (and lost to the ashes) first draft where I have no idea at all what I am doing had Chase Brown in there and then I played with some Evans options. Everything I can tell as a Bengals fan is that if Mixon ends up injured that Brown will end up in that role. But Evans is gonna have that Perine role either way and for $3 I just couldn't pass on a guy who seems on track to be in the game plan every week and who has a legit chance to post the odd score that counts. Even though 6 RBs feels like too many. The rest I mentioned in the prior post that had these 5. McCaffrey is a big swing but when he's on he piles on the points. Walker is the favorable bye - but he has shown talent. Herbert seems like a similar deal and in the feature role at that price he's worth roostering (though Fields is gonna vulture it up). Bigsby and Gainwell should see the field consistently.

WR - 7 for $75

WR - Ja'Marr Chase - CIN/7 - $36
WR - Jahan Dotson - WAS/14 - $14
WR - Romeo Doubs - GB/6 - $9
WR - Alec Pierce - IND/11 - $7
WR - Tank Dell - HOU/7 - $3
WR - Puka Nacua - LAR/10 - $3
WR - Michael Wilson - ARI/14 - $3

Still iffy as all heck but I think I like this a little better than what preceded it. Though if all the $3 wash out it will destroy me probably. But Chase is another big swing to take. Boyd's share is too iffy now and as much as I love Tee and love his lower price I reached the conclusion that if I'm going to do the stack with my Bengals I needed to do it right.

TE - 4 for $39

TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17
TE - Dalton Kincaid - BUF/13 - $10
TE - Cade Otton - TB/5 - $6
TE - Luke Musgrave - GB/6 - $6

Waller was on every iteration. Everything I've heard out here is that he's gonna be the biggest target for Jones with the Giants and it makes a ton of sense. In the land of questions marks behind Kelce that's a solid argument. Then I have 2 rookies with a ton of hype and 1 rookie who didn't have much hype last year in Otton who...well I mean I didn't keep Shenault so I needed to keep at least 1 mistake that I thought was be being a shark and that's Otton. The top 2 TEs both having the same bye is still scary as all heck. But safe old guys at lower dollars are not how I'm rolling this year. My past love for those types has tended to go unrequited.

PK - 3 for $10

PK - Jason Sanders - MIA/10 - $4
PK - Dustin Hopkins - CLE/5 - $3
PK - Cairo Santos - CHI/13 - $3

Still don't love shortening up a 2nd position the same week I am doing that with my TE position but when a dollar wriggled free to let me get Sanders back on the rooster I just couldn't keep Fairbairn (who shares the Burrow/Chase bye) and a totally unproven rookie playing in bad weather. At least give me proven okay guys who....play in bad weather. But ain't spending the dough at this position - it just ain't worth it. Still wish we coulda rostered Blankie though.

TB - 3 for $9

TD - Detroit Lions - DET/9 - $3
TD - Los Angeles Chargers - LAC/5 - $3
TD - Los Angeles Rams - LAR/10 - $3

After much thoughtful resear....oh I just tried to read tea leaves with cheap defenses and tried to avoid the painful byes elsewhere. This is the plan and I don't swerved from this plan at a position that is by and large low ceiling.

So there ya go.

Oh it's a fun question :) I think it's great. It sorta falls to how Jones ends up distributing the ball - if it is a different player with a big game it'll work great, it everyone is sharing the wealth every week not so much.

DK Metcalf is the one $24 guy so that's the direct comparsion but ranking the 5-headed monster vs all the top-15 price guy is a great thought experiment

FTR, the 5-headed monster would've been WR12

So I'm going to predict Shudak is the least owned player. Only a heroic 23-kicker entry is gonna have him I would imagine.

I just closed the contest entry window so I wouldn't tinker. Perhaps I need to just step away from the laptop

Not sure if I'll keep this, but maybe I will for the sake of the $100 and to keep my sanity next few days.

Picked the stud QB with the earliest bye and tried to see if I could build a roster where I might survive without spending ~$8 on a QB who would likely only count one week. Did that by loading up on as many studs as possible at other positions (with enough depth to survive, hopefully). 7 out of 8 skill guys scores will count in week 6... and 7 out of 9 will count in weeks 11 and 13... but my "cheap" guys aren't terrible. This is a very different approach than I've had in the past, both in terms of the 1-QB and also lack of depth. Didn't like taking all $3 kickers either.

That's a heavy lineup!

Yeah, Jayden Reed is who I'm least certain about right now... had M Wilson in there for the longest time... could upgrade a kicker and add a D or another $3 RB/WR for depth. Given he's most likely filler behind my other guys, wondering if I should split him in two. I think I was trying to get more early bye week $... and thinking about week 14 with Dotson on bye... but I've got enough other guys who'd be active that I might still make that change even though it means I'm out of the bonus contest. We'll see.

Likely changing a few more times before midnight. Just wanted to post in case I space out.

QB - Patrick Mahomes - KC/10 - $25
QB - Sam Howell - WAS/14 - $8

One stud/one dud at QB, but I refuse to spend more at the position. Live and die with Mahomie. I think a large bulk of entries will be built this way at QB. I prefer Howell over Love, so I saved a buck (keep reading to see where I spent it).

RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/7 - $24
RB - Alexander Mattison - MIN/13 - $21
RB - Javonte Williams - DEN/9 - $19
RB - Alvin Kamara - NO/11 - $15
RB - Ezekiel Elliott - NE/11 - $7

Mixon is the 15th highest priced RB, so he should return value if he finishes higher than RB15, which he's done 4 of the last 5 seasons (the only one he didn't was 2020 when he played 6 games, but he was RB8 when he went out). He has crossed the 1500-touch plateau, but hey, he's still 600 touches behind one of my other guys! Mattison seems to be loved or hated at his price. He is built for a full load, and I don't think Ty Chandler is a huge threat. Javonte is priced as RB23, but he was RB18 while in a full timeshare with old man Gordon. That won't be the case with Perine. On a PPR per game basis, there aren't many who can compete with Kamara. I am willing to keep him on ice for 3 weeks to reap the benefits. Perhaps Zeke can have a few double-digit games.

WR - Calvin Ridley - JAX/9 - $21
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/5 - $19
WR - DeAndre Hopkins - TEN/7 - $19
WR - Drake London - ATL/11 - $18
WR - Van Jefferson - LAR/10 - $8
WR - Parris Campbell - NYG/13 - $4

None of the highest priced studs, but 4 guys that are capable of low-end WR1 stats. I considered packaging Zeke, Jefferson, and Campbell and getting another guy like Goedert, but I think I prefer the depth. Also, Van Jefferson screams value with Kupp ailing. I know many prefer Hodgins/Hyatt over Parris Campbell, but a recent article swayed me. I would love to roster Jahan Dotson to stack with Howell, but just couldn't find the required dough.

TE - Darren Waller - NYG/13 - $17
TE - Luke Musgrave - GB/6 - $6
TE - Jake Ferguson - DAL/7 - $6

I usually like to roster at least 2 strong TE's, but had to sacrifice for what little depth I actually have. Waller will be a target hog as the team's best receiver. I also looked at Cade Otton from the $6 bunch.

PK - Cameron Dicker - LAC/5 - $4
PK - Cairo Santos - CHI/13 - $3

There were only 2 kickers for $3 that I trusted (Santos & Fairbairn), but I ended up with an extra dollar. I used that buck to upgrade to my homer pick - Dicker the kicker.

TD - Atlanta Falcons - ATL/11 - $3
TD - Carolina Panthers - CAR/7 - $3

Defenses in this contest are all about sacks and INT's. With this duo, you will face a slew of young QB's.

I like it. Your roster and mine have quite a few similarities.

Similar strategy at QB, while you went heavier on WR where I went heavier on RB. I felt better about PIckett than all the other cheaper possibilities.

I wonder if what I said to you the other day about Waller influenced you to roster him, or if you already had him? I REALLY wanted to roster him too, but I had a conflict because I already had a wk13 TE, and didn't want to drop him, and also had an RB3 with a 13 bye, and also a low end WR and a DEF. Although there are 6 teams on bye that week, I didn't want to gamble any further on a 40% cut week.

I opted for a 4th TE rather than another low mid-range WR, because I saw more value in TE's for the money. Average projected points per cap$ as of this mornings projections were: TE=14.7, RB=9.1, WR=12.5. Plus the extra TE that I picked fit well into my bye week grid.

We both took Dicker the Kicker, and I really wanted Legatron instead of Fairbairn with the same bye week (and I did have him until last night), but I needed that extra dollar when I dropped WRs K J Osborne and Marvin Jones and picked instead Josh Palmer and Hayden Hurst. I had first thought Marvin Jones was a value with Jameson Williams suspended 6 weeks (and he may very well be as the WR2 the first few weeks) but then I saw how many younger players are also there, and reading camp reports I got scared off as one stated that he may not be the roster lock that some people think he is. If that be true, then although he made the 53, we can't assume he will continue to have a role if one of the younger players does well. I had grown skeptical about Osborne getting enough targets, so Josh Palmer and Hayden Hurst seemed like a good swap, getting the extra dollar from a kicker. My hope is to get a flex score most weeks from a TE, and the other one from RB or possibly a WR. If Mahommes hits anything near his projection, I might not need extremely high flex scores some weeks. We need to remind ourselves that this contest is more about surviving 14 weeks, than it is betting the farm to try to get the highest possible score. You ended up going with only 2 PK, and I hope you don't end up regretting it.

I almost swapped Tank Dell for a 3rd Defense. If I had done that, it would probably have been LA Chargers Defense with bye 5. That would have dropped my week 13 byes from 4 to 3, and moved that bye to week 5, which is a 10% cut week compared to 40% cut in week 13. Keep in mind that if Tank Dell scores any punt return TDs or Kick return TDs, they don't count because he's an offensive player. If you have Houston's Defense, you would get those return TD points from Dell. So Dell needs to perform on offense in order to deliver fantasy points. I may regret not making this change, but since I couldn't decide, I went with my first impression. Now I'll be rooting for him to get some snaps with the offense, like he did in the pre-season.

In the end, I was very happy with my bye week management. I have 8 WRs and 7 of them have different bye weeks. I have 5 RB, ALL with different bye weeks. Using projected fantasy points as a measuring tool, I compare my percentage of projected fantasy points on bye each week to the percentage of NLF teams on bye each week. The only 2 weeks where my percentage of points on bye exceeds the teams on bye pecentage, are the two weeks when a QB is on bye. It's impossible to avoid that unless no other player is on bye the same week as your QBs. But even if you manage that, it means there will be no less than 2 other bye weeks with at least 3 players sitting, or even more if you roster more than 18 players. My feeling is that although my roster is not necessarily as strong as I'd like, my hope is that my bye week managment will help me make the cut each week.

I can hardly wait for the season to start.

I landed on a core group of
Burrow (7)
CMac (9)
Bijan (11)
Jefferson (13)
Tyreek (10)
Pickens (6)
with a TE platoon.

23 player team with no more than 4 players per bye week. I see lots of Pickett, Love, Howell and the rest at QB2 and considered each of them. They are all solid picks. But I'm going with Baker playing for his career in a wide open division.

My roster for Joe:

QB - Joe Burrow - CIN/7 - $21
