(I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if this is well-trodden ground.)
I've been playing around and looking at teams and how they're constructed. The oddest thing to me is how many teams left money on the table.
46 teams left at least $3 on the table. None of them were obvious gimmick/joke teams (you know, 22 kickers, that sort of thing). Okay, there is an 8-kicker team in there.
One of these teams (NICK BIGGS, 100057) is off the hook because it's a full 30-man roster. But all of the other 45 could have added players and chose not to. I mean, 6 of the teams rostered only one D or K (or both).
Four teams spent exactly $200, and I have this awful feeling that they thought that was the limit. Three of them have already been eliminated.
The frugality king is SNOOKS DOWD (107819), who spent only $184 for a 20-player roster. But hey, that team outscored mine last week, so what do I know?
The oddball/joke/gimmick teams:
The sole 9-defense team (Entry #100051): still alive.
The 22-kicker team is dead. The 18-kicker team is dead. But the 13-kicker team (Entry #107021) lives on!
Three of the four 7-TE teams are alive, but 7 TEs isn't really that wacky to begin with.
17 WRs, on the other hand (Entry #103897): pretty wacky and still with us!
The 12 10-RB teams (yawn) are all still alive.
There are 15 teams with 10 or more QBs (ranging up to 3 teams with 16). All 15 of those teams died in week 1. Never go full QB. If you must have lots of QBs, keep it to single digits: four of the five 9-QB teams are still alive.
A whopping 885 teams went with one kicker and one defense. 132 of them died (14.9% vs. 10% overall attrition). Has this ever been a winning strategy?
