2024-25 NBA Thread: Celtics fan proudly looking at 2027 revenue projections (58 Viewers)

Good effort by the Knicks so far
Doing a good job to push it back to Indiana
Do the Pacers want to end it tonight or get into a deep Game 6 back at home?
2nd Half should be interesting

For Gobert:

Leandro Balmaro
Walker Kessler
Jarred Vanderbilt
Malik Beasley
Keyonte George
Pick #21
2026 1st round pick swap which won't convey
2027 1st round pick
2029 1st round pick (top 5 protected)
It’s not the worst trade ever in hindsight but it sure ain’t the best and it hurt their flexibility going forward. Along with how he clogs the toilet on offense. But I don’t know enough to say if they made it this far the last two years without him either.
Well, the new CBA hurt their flexibility. The Wolves would have never traded for him if they knew those cap rules were coming.
That CBA is going to crush everybody. It sucks.

Yeah I’m still shocked they didn’t give each team an amnesty arrangement for one salary from the previous CBA.

If they do an expansion next year, the draft could be interesting. Normally, teams trade draft picks to the expansion teams to not take their players. I could see expansion teams getting lots of picks to take on bad contracts as a form of amnesty.

We should find someone to run a mock expansion thing on this board for us.

Oh I’m definitely already trying to figure out how to do something like this for an expansion draft.

I’ll also roll out a draft of some sort after the finals - working through the kinks right now.

Ant just needs better spacing, some more shooters and/or a second elite scorer. He’s a one man band out there offensively. The rest of this stuff is just ESPN hot take/Kendrick Perkins nonsense.

I mean he does have quality role players who can shoot but I really think the guy holding them back is Gobert. Imagine what kind of offensive weapon they could add with all that salary.
Rudy is a huge part of their success in the last two seasons though. I'm 100% serious when I say he's the biggest reason for their success, behind Ant. Now, if this is as far as they can go with him? That's a differnt discussion.
Rudy is such an interesting player. Even with the DPOYs, I think he has been one of the most underrated players (or maybe misunderstood?) in the NBA. He is one of the best floor raisers that the NBA has had over the last decade because he is such a defensive force. The obvious issue is that he also presents an offensive ceiling that is way easier to see than his defensive contributions, I think.

If your goal was to win a playoff series, I think Gobert has been the 2nd best center in the NBA over the course of the last decade (or 3rd if AD wants to consider himself a center). If your goal was to win a championship, he slides way down that list. At this point, a young team could use his style of play but his defense is slipping while his hands and offense have gotten significantly worse so he isn't worth it for a team like Minnesota. I'd probably still rather have him over KAT, especially when salary is considered.

Pacers are battling the Refs in Game 6, the NBA wants to see the Knicks host a Game 7 at MSG
They would prefer if the Knicks would make the Finals

But a Thunder-Pacers match up would actually be fun
The Thunder would demolish the Knicks in 4, maybe 5 if they fall asleep one night

The insane amount of celebrities at MSG last game, Miles Teller coming out of nowhere because he's buddies with Chalamet

I was surprised to see OKC lose a single game to the Wolves and the Wolves are significantly better than either the Knicks or the Pacers. If I didn't clear out my betting account by noman Powell hitting a three down 5 with one second left in game 1 of the first round, I would put that same 20 bucks on a sweep in the finals.

They are definitely not.
T-Wolves are a team with holes.

I think the Pacers are the obvious #3 in these playoffs. The Nuggets were #2.

Indy has some holes but they are smaller and they cover them better.

Unfortunately their advantage of depth is negated vs OKC because they are just as deep and more talented across the board.

I know I'm a biased Wolves fan, but I think you're way too down on this team.

I’d say they are better than maybe the Knicks. Probably not Indy, I’d definitely favor the pacers in 5 or 6 there. Think healthy Denver would beat them too. Cavs. Also Celtics before Tatum died. Top-5 or 6 team.

Teams I wouldn't bet on the Wolves against:
OKC (they're the best, duh)
Boston (healthy version)
Cavs (don't love the matchup)

I'd probably take the Wolves out of favoritism but it's a toss up:
Clippers (sneaky good IMO - though they'd Clipper it up in game 7)
Nuggets (Wolves match up well, but best player in the world)

Pacers (Ehhh all right - I still like the Wolves but that's probably my bias showing and Wolves struggled against them during the regular season)

Teams I'd bet on the Wolves against and feel good about it:
Knicks
Rockets
Lakers
Warriors
Bucks

So, I'd have them 4th. Jayrod seems to have them like 10th.

Yeah I think the only objection is the word "significantly". I do think they are flatly better than the Knicks, but I don't think I would say significantly better. The Pacers matchup I think is really even but I would probably have a very slight lean to the Pacers. The Twolves are in the 5 - 7 range.
