2024-25 NBA Thread: Finals return after 3-month hiatus (166 Viewers)

can we get some solid hot takes in here i am tired and could use a pick me up take that to the bank bromigos

Giannis finished the season 30/12/7. Wilt, Oscar and Giannis are the only players in NBA history to have a 30/10/5 season, but Giannis has now done it 3 times in a row. All three years he's done this while shooting a true 60%, which no one else has ever done in NBA history. Without him the Bucks probably wouldn't win 10 games. It's an easy year for MVP voters.
that's a slow Tuesday night for Joker....
Except for the fact Joker’s never done that (averaged those numbers for a season).
bolded....he actually has done better if you factor in "overall impact"....this year (29.6) so basically 30....12.7 higher then the 10....and 10.2....so 5 more assists which led directly to "points".....shoot instead of pass and he has 30 PPG easy....either way, accounting for 10 more points a game...I mean we are kind of splitting hairs here but the point is still the same...

If you’re doing “overall impact,” let’s do defense. Giannis is a menace 2 society on the other end.
sorry....overall "offensive" impact which is what these stats were about...

I guess I haven’t listened to enough NBA games and have just been looking at the box scores. I asked myself, “who is this Mo Gay guy?”

Damn Boston. Just too many horses to expect this ORL team to take them deep in the first. It's a shame, because ORL is fun to watch.

On Sunday there will be a team with a proud tradition and winning history playing in Boston, and then there are the Celtics.
I welcome your brash hard nosed team. Boston doesn't need a cake walk in round 1. They've had a nice edge to their game this month and need to keep it. I'd like it if Orlando punched them in the mouth in game 1 or 2.

Podziemski went down and grabbed his groin. Reply showed he wasn't touched there.

This dude did the exact same thing last time I saw them play, only worse. Like legit grabbing his actually **** while writhing around on the floor until stoppage. Replay on that one was even worse. Absolutely never even touched there and the announcers openly wondered what he was thinking.

What is this guy's deal? And why must it be his junk? Did I just happen to catch the only two times this has happened???

The Magic will play tough for most of each game, but get blown out 3 times in the fourth quarter and lose the series in 5. Should be a good lesson for them hopefully.

Regardless of where he got hit, he was fouled on the play. It was clear as day. Edey hit him full body.

That's been twice now that Curry gets a weak foul and 2 FTs because he fell or lost the ball, not because the contact warranted it. 4 free points on what could have been 2 turnovers.

That's fine, but has nothing to with what I'm asking about. Is there a reason he grabs his **** and acts like he got kneed there? Never seen the same player go to the floor like that, twice now, with zero contact near the groin. And I've probly seen like 30 minutes total of the guy, ever.

You a GS fan by chance? It's a simple question in the NBA thread where I figured someone will know is all.

I don’t really know. It’s a super fair question. Not aware of the other time it happened. Maybe he has a groin injury and getting hit and twisted (which happened on that play) aggravated the injury. Or maybe he just likes to flop for calls. I’ve never seen that from him but yeah, would love to know if others have an answer.

I was more annoyed that they didn’t call what was an obvious foul

Well, he got fouled on a 3 earlier and nothing was called. And Podz got fouled by Edey and it wasn’t called. Welcome to the NBA.

If Memphis could cut their turnovers in half, they'd be running away with this game. Golden State is good defensively at generating steals, but the Grizzlies are just so careless with the ball, unnecessary wild passes, over-dribbling when going to the basket and a lack of awareness of where double teams are coming from.

Morant ankle sprain.

Shades of ZaZa Pachulia on Leonard.

Warriors in trouble and what do you know, the other teams best player gets undercut.

ETA: I'm joking, btw. I know it was completely unintentional.

Edey is both impressive and head scratching to watch.

He waivers from unstoppable beast to bumbling oaf from play to play.

How are the grizzlies so bad at rebounding
Because Edey got a BS foul call for his 5th and got taken out. Which they reviewed and stayed with.

Then Draymond can place his hand on Banes stomach on his drive with no call and now Butler gets his ten millionth FT on a no contact play.

That's 3 consecutive close/bad calls that go against Memphis.

FT disparity is getting quite large.

You’re welcome. That was a horrible call just now.

I think that foul call/review made up for Edey's previous bad call/foul.

Edey drops the ball down to his waist way too often near the hoop. Seems like not doing that is post offense 101 for a dude that is like 8 feet tall.

This has been a really fun and stressful game. The next time my doctor debates having me do a cardiac stress test, I’m just going to tell him about this game.

The last team I wanted the Rockets facing:rant:
I don't know, they really aren't that great.

Curry and Butler always give you a chance, but Green is a step slower and the rest of the team just isn't very good.

I think Houston's energy and depth will be too much for the Warriors.
