2024 Cowboys Season Thread - We even suck at tanking. (1 Viewer)

Trading for Adams would be the most Dallas thing ever.

Completely stupid.
7/10 happening then.

Either tank.
Or get a RB.

Etienne please.

We have no running game and no need for defenses to bring a safety into the box to support stopping the run.

That limits our down the field opportunities with large chunk plays. Dak has to dink and dunk his way down the field because of the lack of run game. I am not sure what we thought was going to happen when we completely neglected the RB position for years. The last 2 years are inexcusable.

The last couple years draft picks have left a lot to be desired.

If we wanted to stop the run, I would think a Micah Parsons move to his natural position of linebacker would be a good start.

What would we like to discuss first? Kneeland injury? The obvious toxic relationship between Ceedee and Dak? Winning a game none of us thought they would win?

Why is there problems with CD and Dak? CD gets a lot of looks.

Collinsworth implying that Cee Dee was saying something so bad to Dak that he couldn't relay it, but letting the viewers lip read for themselves is a bit irresponsible. I've watched it many times and still have no idea what he said, I don't think Collinsworth does either.

He said “that was a bad throw, come on Dak”.

During the playoff loss last year was the first time I’ve seen Ceedee turn into a diva. Since then, it’s been nearly every game this year. Micah too for that matter.

I feel like I'm at the doctors, and he is approaching me with a large needle saying "This is gonna hurt...".

Cowboys Fans. Talk to me about blue jerseys at home.

Why go blue here when they usually are white at home?

Thoughts on this?

The only jersey I own and still sometimes wear is a road blue Aikman 8. Always loved the road blue, even though they were considered bad luck. Just love the look.

But this iteration of Dallas is not very good. So jersey color to me is irrelevant. I think about this like I might the color of your socks.

Still can't believe you think Dak is a super bowl caliber QB. Like......you're a smart guy and I respect your intellect but my god, Joe, you are out to lunch on this one.

Yes, GB.

You bring this up regularly but I do think Prescott is part of a pretty good sized group of QBs that are good enough to get to and win a Super Bowl. As we talked here https://forums.footballguys.com/thr...-to-get-to-and-win-a-super-bowl.814064/page-2

I understand you disagree. But I don't think you're "out to lunch" with that opinion.

I used to think so about Prescott, but not anymore. What is more concerning is seems the team does not rally around him anymore. Lamb just got a huge deal and looks aloof when dealing with Prescott..

Man, the old blocking TE rubbed your face in it. Had both Decker and Skipper walk up to the referee when he reported eligible. Flea Flicker to LaPorta, Taylor Decker running a seam on goal to go (incomplete), hook n ladder Ragnow-to-Sewell (wiped out by penalty.) I honestly did not catch anything disrespectful in the Lions postgame locker room or interviews, but LB Alex Anzalone said at the podium "We knew going in it was going to be a statement win." wait you mean you knew during the week? "Well...OK, I mean you're always trying to make a statement in any game. But...well, yeah, this game specifically."

MCDC made it personal, that a disrespectful curb stomping on so many levels.

Hope y'all get it together. The league is better for it when Micah is healthy and Dak is slinging it to CeeDee. Hope we see you in January.

Aidan Hutchinson update: i
nitial prognosis is good, but too early to tell if he'll ever be the same. I'll say this, couldn't have happened in a better city. Dallas has some of the best medical facilities in the world. I had a friend who had to schedule surgery ASAP for a massive brain tumor. They had an MRI machine right in the surgery ward. They would cut/laser/whatever and then see how much they got, then go back and take out so more. That was 13 years ago, he still gets a scan every 6 months but still in the clear. Praise God for folks who devote their careers to medical care.

Been on the other end of this kind of loss way too many times. They can use this to fuel the rest of the season. Obviously "we're all in" hasn't looked like you hoped, but the Cowboys are too good to just mail it in.

Well the King of Garbage points finally let me down. At halftime with Cowboys losing big I am thinking Dak will roll up at least 250-3TDs of meaningless points in the second half. Did not happen. Lions did not let it happen as they kept the pressure on.

Cowboys have a big culture problem right now, Lamb looks like he does not care, Dak is on an island. Jerry is wishing he let Dak play out his final year.

At this point it seem like Dak would be better off with a fresh start somewhere else.

Our run defense has been bad for years. The last time I can remember having a decent presence in the middle was Jay Ratliff and Rolando McClain. That was awhile ago.

I knew our run game would be bad this year. I did not think it would be this bad. I don't know how you trot Rico Dowdle out there and expect to be a playoff caliber program.

This Dak contract has set us back significantly. I'm not sure if the CD/Dak beef is real but the more Dak looks like a pumpkin, the harder it will be for him to lead this team. You can't have the salary he has and play the way he has and not be called to the carpet. Right now, Dak has to listen to the criticisms, take ownership for the poor play and rally this team for next year's sake... luckily, 2025 seems pretty loaded at RB.

We have so many needs: Edge, RB, DT, LB, WR... I don't see how we can shore these positions up. The best path forward is probably tanking for a high draft pick and selling that pick for more picks.

If beating this Dallas team is the highlight of their season they’re in trouble

I'm sorry man. Yesterday just killed me. I took it out on you. Not cool. Just so very frustrated with this team, with the owner with the injuries with Dak.....ugh. All of it just infuriating.

If you think that is true then I’m not sure we have much to discuss, GB.

As I told you in the game thread, you don’t schedule your own games. The task is to beat the team in front of you and stack Ws. We’re barely one third of the way through the regular season, nothing was decided yesterday.

We’re on to Minnesota. Enjoy your bye week, friend.

nothing was decided yesterday.
Dallas was down two cornerbacks, their top four defensive ends, starting middle linebacker #2 WR , LT (rookie who hasn’t been great) and is trotting Dowdle and Elliott out at RB.
Detroit should have won big. That’s all I’m trying to say

Yeah, you guys are hurting for sure.

But you also didn’t do anything to improve the team in the offseason.

Micah & Lawrence changes everything. The Lions have 5 starters and 2 important contributors on season ending IR. That’s the reality of the NFL, every year. There are ebbs and flows, teams that have great seasons get lucky sometimes, but everyone gets banged up.

Not trying to be jerky but you’d do well to not try to play that card. Everyone has injuries to overcome. There is always adversity in this league. Doesn’t mean anything, you’re not special, you’re not snake bit.

It’s how you respond that matters. Right now we’re going to see how Detroit responds to losing their biggest superstar in defense.

Promise you I won’t be posting “yeah but Hutch got hurt.”

I got no beef with you @Cowboysfan8 , never have to my knowledge. I’m one of the most cordial posters in TSP. Don’t @ me and don’t come at me. Not playing badminton with you.

Cowboys' problems are multifaceted; injuries are for sure part of them. But this team is dysfunctional. There's problems all over the place and it's not being disguised very well. The body language is negative, the sideline outbursts are too frequent, the finger pointing is boorish but the reality is you have two players on the team eating up $100MM in cap space (or something darn close to it). And if those two players are not in simpatico the rest of the team will suffer for it.

I don't know what the team does from here. The NFC's best teams are leaving Dallas behind and the NFC teams that are on par with Dallas are showing signs of improving - Washington right now looks like a better team than Dallas. When is the last time we said that? The Saints beat the ever loving snot out of Dallas and they ain't world beaters. If the season has slipped away, what on earth does Dallas do? Draft a QB? Nope. Draft a WR early? Cee Dee might not like that. New coach? Seems obvious but until or unless Jerry gets out of the way, the coach really doesn't matter and Jerry won't hire a coach who stands up to him.

It's frustrating. This is the most despondent I've been on the Dallas Cowboys in years. It's just so hard to continue on with Jerry on the helm. He has broken me.

Then need to upgrade their trenches both sides.

Jerry had a meltdown on radio today.

Threatening to fire radio personalities.

You can’t make this stuff up.
Eeeehhh! There's that real Jerry! The ID in him has been lying dormant for so so long.
Isn't he due for another plastic surgery?
Waitin on the rec from Vince McMahon I think
I truly believe that if you flipped Jerry on the cheek his face would disintegrate.

Good lord, I just read what Jerruh said this morning...he's lost his marbles and it is Glorious!

"One of the stupidest things I've ever done, that anybody had ever analyzed was buy the Cowboys. It was an idiot that did that. So idiot things can turn into good decisions. Smart things can turn into bad decisions. The facts are when you make one, you don't really know if it's going to be good or not at the time. You want some conversation this morning, you're getting it"
