2024 FBG Subscriber Contest (2 Viewers)

Happy to join team 18-20. I too will likely be rostering 23-27 players, and agree that works well treating the two exercises as separate...although the former will likely help set an anchor point or two on the latter.

Still need 21-23 size roster contributors, have 4 spots still open if anyone is interested please shoot me a DM.

Looking for 28-30 size guys. Let's go bargain bin shoppers. Let's show these highfalutin marque players guys what's up. Volume over quality baby....

Turns out we don't need to create another thread after all.

Thanks to @Joe Bryant and @Contest Turk they have allowed the board regulars to collectively submit 5 different rosters. These 5 submissions will be treated exactly like staff member entries - they will not be eligible for prizes and will not count towards weekly cutoffs either. It's just another fun way the FBG staff is letting the diehards enjoy the contest. Here's how this will work:
- We will be creating 5 different submissions, with 6 board regulars in each team
- Each submission will have a lead person, who will create a private conversation to discuss specific players and form their submissions
- The 5 submissions will be:
- 1) Roster made up of 18 - 20 players (@TheWinz will be the lead for this team)
- 2) Roster made up of 21 - 23 players (@Dacomish will be the lead for this team)
- 3) Roster made up of 24 - 27 players (@Scoresman will be the lead for this team)
- 4) Roster made up of 28 - 30 players (@Gally will be the lead for this team)
- 5) Roster made up of most common players, based on what the assigned team decides (no size limit) (@Birdie048 will be the lead for this team)
- Team leads will send their final roster submission to @TheWinz no later than 24 hours before the contest closes, who will then compile and forward to Contest Turk
- If you want to help out, please pick one of the 5 rosters above, and the team lead will add you to the private conversation
- Private conversations have a max of 6 people, so you will be asked to join another team if the roster you want is full
- If we have less than 30 people who want to participate, we will allow people to participate in multiple teams
- The 5 team leads will create their private conversations as soon as the first person joins their team, and will invite the rest as they identify themselves
- You don't have to wait until the contest opens to discuss. Everyone probably already has a few players in mind!

So, who wants in?
Bargain bin shopper for the win! Would like to focus on one of the two larger roster sizes if you want me.
We would love to have you on the 28-30 size team. You want in?

Not for me to say since I haven’t volunteered to sign up for any of the “teams”…but I wonder if this has good “too far”. What I mean is, this started with the idea of “wouldn’t it be cool to have one entry that’s a group effort to see if it can actually perform better?” And turned into 5 different group entries requiring 25 people to sign up. My 2 cents is to strip it back down to 2 entries at most (one big roster and one small) and leave it at that. I imagine you already have 10 folks combined who’ve raised their hands to be involved in this fun effort, so maybe you can already call it a day if you reduce and focus on just 2 entries.

2 unsolited cents :)

Filling the teams will be pretty easy. There isn't alot of foot traffic right now, but we already have about half the people we need. Do you want to join one of the teams?

Great to hear.

@Birdie048 already reached out to see if I was interested in joining but I’m more interested to see the results of where this ends up than being involved in building one of the rosters, especially since there is zero proof that I have any clue how to do well in this context :)
Like I said to Birdie048, I can be a “break glass in case of emergency” person if you can’t fill a test at the end.

I can see your thought process there, but being a part of it I can also see how 5 different size rosters can reap some good research benefit. Plus we all seem to be filling up on teams to contribute towards the rosters. I think the end rosters will be pretty good to follow along and going forward it will defo help the masses.

After all in here we tend to support and cheer for each other in a great community, so this can only help us all.

Ok. I’m sold again. If there’s an open slot on one of the larger roster teams, I’d like to lend a hand. (24-27 or 28+) since I’ve historically submitted smaller rosters (20-21-ish) and stunk it up.
Lmk if you need another hand

I'll chime in on this somewhere...am I supposed to pick a group or get assigned? Much like Joey above, I have historically entered rosters on the smaller side. I always feel like I am just rolling dice with the cheapo guys. It might be nice to get out of my (unsuccessful) comfort zone.

ETA...just replied to PM from Winz...I'll help with 24-27

I have a horrible track record for picking the cheapo guys. The only hit I can recall was the obvious $4 James Conner when LeVeon Bell sat out. Last year I missed out on Puka, Kyren, Dell, Collins, Laporta, but I did waste money on Parris Campbell and Van Jefferson.

Folks, it looks like last year's contest analyzer has stopped working today. I assume the FBG staff is preparing for this year's contest, so for now, I will keep the broken link in the first post of this thread. Contest should open in less than 4 weeks!

Team 28-30 can use some help. Glad to have you join us if you are up for it

Ok. Put me down for ruining the prospects of Team 28-30 making the finals. ;)

Still have 2 open spots on the 21-23 roster "The League of Ordinary Gentlemen" for anyone interested! DM me if you want to help.

I think those prospects were ruined once I got the team

3 spots also open on Team 24-27. We're working with spreadsheets!

That's an incentive to join, right?
Two spots left open on the 28-30 team and we won't make you do math. So all you delinquents that don't like math or spreadsheets come join us.

I appreciate that this is happening but I am going to keep my independent status so as not to be influenced by the group work. Good luck to those of you who are giving this a go! Will definitely be interested in the results.

After looking at past year's, there is always one ingredient missing, and no amount of groupthink can come up with it - LUCK
We will not post the 5 fake teams in here until after the contest closes, so as not to sway anyone

If you are tagged above, it's because you posted in either this thread already, or in last year's thread. And if you are not tagged, either because I couldn't find your name, or because you haven't posted, that's OK too. Anyways, Joe Bryant has given us permission to create 5 group submissions this year. These submissions will not be eligible for prizes, but should be a blast creating, using the collective brains of the board regulars.

If you would like to help out, reply to this post before the contest opens, which should be around 4 weeks from now. Once the contest opens, we can create a private conversation and get busy creating the 5 rosters. But we don't have to wait for the prices to come out to start discussions. I am going to see if I can create a conversation that will allow me to add people as they volunteer.

Questions?
Sounds fun.

I'll take one of them.
Rusty, you were already assigned to a team 12 hours ago when you said yes. Didn't you get a message from @Birdie048 where you were invited to a private chat?

I've made the top 250 twice in like, I dunno, 15 years of this contest. Not sure what it takes to hit the top 10. I typically favor big rosters as my preferred strategy.
I got 2nd last year, takes a fair amount of luck along with some skill, but luck plays a huge factor.

Wanna join Team 28-30....need one more guy and your luck could off set the bad luck from @joey
Yes, I'm in. I think I had 28 roster last year.

Do y'all still need volunteers for one of these teams? I'll jump in, but be aware that I don't do math. Usually I pretend that the players on my dynasty roster will double last year's production (or triple, if last year's numbers were down).

And then I notice I have two $3 kickers with the same bye, but none of the other $3 kickers look good ...

And then ... and then it all begins.

I would hop on also - love me a good spreadsheet and they're easier to cut in five pieces than any bagel I've ever had! ;)

Plus Gally appears to have filled his.

Only a few more weeks. Now's a great time to check your subscription, making sure it lasts through the entire contest. It would suck to win and find your subscription lapsed.

If history is an indicator...
2023 - season opened 7 Sep, contest opened 7 Aug

I have been trying to guess prices and my numbers are all over the place. I wish I could just go into a coma for a week.

So that means we should take two $7 kickers and 2 of the highest priced Def for the win am I right?

**now we get to watch @TheWinz head explode.....🤣🤣🤣**

Taking Tucker for $7 is like taking CMC for $75

Looks like I missed the collaborative entry thing but excited to start iterating on my lineup once this comes out in a couple weeks. I think I made it to week 10ish last year and in the 10 or so years have never made the finals. I think I will target roster size 24-26 though last year i only had 21.

@TheWinz on your first message you could also reference that 2022 thread when Joe had people summarize their strategy in 150 words or less. Can help any newbies. I think that led to an article but I only found the thread:
