Tracking my roster injuries / estimated return dates....

Taysom Hill Week 4 (ish) - TE2
David Njoku Week 6 (ish) - TE1
Coooper Kupp Week 7 (ish) - WR1
Isaiah Pacheco Week 14 (ish) - RB1

ish rhymes with wish.

Sans Pacheco, in Week 5 I will be relying on Josh Jacobs and Javonte Williams at RB, Watson, Rice and Shakir at WR and Hill and Parkinson at TE so all scores will count given 2 flex. Javonte is problematic so I'll need the cutoff to shrink based on the team byes.

Sans Cupp and possibly Njoku in Week 6, RB is OK but I'll only have Ridley, Watson and Shakir at WR and only Hill at TE.

So Week 5 and 6 will be threading the needle; yay. I have limited issues with the teams on bye Weeks 10-12 and 14...but I might not be around to see it.

Maybe I'm being irrational, but I think Pacheco is back Week 9 or 10. There was no ligament damage and they installed a titanium plate so the area is at zero risk of re-breaking. He literally just needs to heal and then get back up to game speed. They said 6 to 8 weeks to recover, so that's Weeks 8-10.

I don't know why Hunt would scare anyone off. He shouldn't.

I didn’t say anyone should be scared off.

It’s just potentially fewer touches for Pacheco.

Math.

on the flip side andy reid spewed some rhetoric suggesting that Pacheco could be done for the year. #coachspeak

Opening week 4 with DAL/NYG. With 8533 teams remaining, here are the ownership numbers:

QB - Prescott (332), Jones (139), Lock (8)
Less than 4% have Dak, and less than 2% have Danny. Only reason they move the needle at all is because it sits at ZERO.

RB - Dowdle (2044), Singletary (558), Tracy (433), Elliott (166), Gray (137), Vaughn (31)
The Giants backfield belongs to Devin, but Dowdle's 24% ownership should make a bigger dent, even with the timeshare.

WR - Nabers (2458), Lamb (483), Cooks (443), Tolbert (159), Robinson (79), Hyatt (73), Slayton (58), Turpin (45)
I am 1 of the 104 remaining with the Nabers/Lamb duo, so you know who I'll be rooting for.

TE - Ferguson (858), Johnson (208), Bellinger (46)
I am one of 4 remaining with the Lamb/Nabers/Ferguson trio, so you know who I'll be rooting for.

PK - Aubrey (922), Joseph (26)
Gano still has 405, but $8 Aubrey rules tonight.

TD - DAL (604), NYG (203)
The Cowboys will make a small mark at 7% owned.

I have $74 tied up in 3 players, so this is easily the most important game of the week for me. Best of luck to everyone tonight!

Nabors and Singletary hopefully get me off to a quick start.

Three weeks in, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the best and worst performing roosters, broken down by their position groups. For this exercise, I only reviewed teams who are still active in week 3, which, as you will see - came with some surprises.

Starting with the QB:

Through three weeks, the highest scoring combination of QBs was Josh Allen and Kyler Murray. This combination has added 118.25 points to the 13 teams who rostered them. Costing $47 of the budget and providing these teams with roughly 40 points of additional value over the average QB score of 79 points through three weeks.

Sadly, for "Entry 106025" who spent $20 on Kyler Murray, the other $120 he spent on the position did not match the performance of Josh Allen's $27. As his QBs have only contributed 112.35.

The worst performing QB group who is still alive, opted to go solo on the position and spent $10 on Russell Wilson. Behind the Broncos, "Entry 109518" might be the most disappointed with their decision to believe in "Mr. Unlimited"

Moving onto the RBs:

These results are based only on the two starting running backs in your lineup. If a running back scored from your flex position, that will be counted in the flex discussion. So this section will only consider a team's two top scoring RBs in each of the three weeks. With that said, the top performing group sits alone. "Venti" hit the jackpot with his 5 running backs (D. Henry, Saquon, Kamara, Dobbins and Bigsby). His RBs added 175.7 points through three weeks, nearly doubling the contest average of 96. His investment of $91 was higher than the average spent on RBs of $75, but his additional investment brought outsized returns.

Another player who outspent the average on the position was "Entry 104361" who spent $76 on McCaffrey, Nick Chubb, Blake Corum, and Zamir White. Through three weeks, this group has only added 17.1 points. But as mentioned above, he will still be sweating the Turk in week 4. So the rest of his team must be doing extremely well, so if he gets McCaffrey and Chubb back, maybe he ends up with the last laugh.

WR:

The big spender, "Entry 109967" put $101 into 7 wide outs (Kupp, Burkes, Doubs, Pierce, St. Brown, Nabers, and Juan Jennings). He has accrued 179.8 points from this group, outpacing the contest average of 123.6. The biggest surprise for me from the top scorer is he had neither of the contest darlings, Rashee Rice or Jameson Williams. However, the second highest scoring roster did. "Back932" only trailed first place by 0.6 points, and spent a sizable $24 less. While matching on Kupp, Nabers, and Jennings - Back932 went with Rice and Williams and splashed some Van Jefferson in there as well.

"Entry 100151" is alone at the bottom with only 28 points from his WRs through 3 weeks. He's in the pits puking at his decision to only roster Puka, and Pittman for $57.

TE:

This whole position group has been largely disappointing. With the top scoring TEs averaging about 12 points per week. Our top team "jaisonline" scooped 86.7 points more than doubling the 36 points averaged by the rest of the league. They spent $38 on 3 TEs: Likely, Goedert, Kittle. On the other side of things, while there are 5 teams who have yet to score a point from their TEs. Three teams only rostered Hockenson, and two only rostered Sinnott. Those teams knew what they were getting into, the teams I feel badly for are the two teams who rostered both of them plus Evan Engram. These teams spent $40 on TEs and have reaped 2 points for their efforts. Oof!

Flex:

90% of the top 50 scoring teams have started Rashee Rice in their flex. It appears if you didn't roster Rice (like me), you're playing with one hand tied behind your back. Entry 104749 was our highest scoring team, grabbing 123.2 points from their left over WRs,RBs and TEs, He used 4 WRs (Rice, Odunze, Ridley, and Godwin) and using just one RB (James Connor). One of them was used in two weeks, but I didn't record which one. This granted them a roughly 50 point advantage over the average team who picked up about 70 points from their flex.

There are only two teams that knew how their flex position was going to fare before the season started. "Entry 104257" and "Entry 111133" opted to select exactly 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and 1 TE. So each week they are locked into their starters and they will be taking 0s in both of their flex positions. Bravo for making it through 3 weeks. Anyone have a guess which week we will lose them?

PK:

The highest scoring kicking group belongs to "stidesforty" who put up 68 points through the first three weeks nearly doubling the average performance of 36 points. "Stidesforty" spent $18 on 4 kickers (Lutz, Boswell, Fairbairn, and Hopkins).

"Entry 103039" wanted to be the king of kickers as he spent $68 on the kicking position, rostering 10 kickers! His selections contributed 63.8 points, I hope he doesn't read this, but he could have scored better spending on $12 on Carlson, Boswell and Lutz like "ClimbK2" and 3 other teams did. On the other side of the kicking coin you will find "Entry 111132", who absolutely hates kickers. He rostered Greg Joseph alone, who I believe at the start of the season was the backup kicker for the Giants. So through three weeks, he has 3 points from the position.

That was BEFORE the surgery. During the surgery, which was successful, they noted that there was zero ligament damage. Reid's comments were based on not knowing the extent of ligament damage at the time he made them.

Whatcha ya talkin about Willis?

Nabors and Ferguson did well and agree - hope concussion recovery goes well for Nabors…what a talent!

I have the cheap, cheap version of CeeDee , I.e. Tolbert too…. Last week good, this week not so much

Nabors, Tolbert and Rice with KC were kinda my core that I started with, I.e they were on the majority of my 1000’s of iterations lol

Aaron Jones was tooo as my anchor RB and late I switched to KW3…hope walker comes back strong but do have lots of Aaron on my redraft teams

So after putting my foot in my mouth, by calling out Greg joseph, and then he puts up 20 points. It got me thinking, who else would the good people of this contest ride solo with (Or duo in the case of RBs and WRs). So I pulled the entries which have no bench players for a given role. Here's the breakdown:

Similar to my last post these are just the teams alive after week 3:

234 teams rostered a single QB, below are the most popular solo selections.
Kyler Murray (29), Jayden Daniels (26), Lamar Jackson (21), Patrick Mahomes (20), CJ Stroud (19)

Only 60 rosters selected the minimum of 2 RBs, and there wasn't much concentration.
Breece Hall (12) and De'Von Achane (12) led the list. The remaining were kind of dart throws at the big names. However, three separate rosters decided that they were going to ride with Jerome Ford, as their every week starter for the season. There are certainly brave souls among us.

It seems even less owners have faith in rocking 2 WRs for the whole season. As only 26 teams opted for no backups, no bye week fill ins.
Amon-Ra St.Brown (8), Garrett Wilson (5), Cooper Kupp(5)

The tight end position seems to endear more faith, as 532 teams went Highlander mode at the position.
The ever hopeful with Kyle Pitts (57), the cheat code Taysom Hill (52) and Dalton Kincaid (51) made up the top three. Thirty-six tight ends appeared on the list, so just about every tight end was selected to go solo, I guess weird things happen when you have a sample size of eight thousand.

1101 teams are sending the same kicker out there each week. The most popular are as follows Brandon Aubrey (126), Cameron Dicker(116), Jake Bates(100). In addition to Aubrey being the most popular, he was also the best performing, through three weeks there are only 43 combinations who scored more points than he did by himself.

1177 teams have a sole team defense. Jets (117), 49ers (112), Ravens (95) and Bears (83). While the Packers are the best single defence thus far, the crowd was not far off, as the Jets are the second highest scoring team to date.

Love the Highlander reference. So which is the true Highlander from the groups of wannabes? These posers will dual to the death until there is only one.

Which Highlander strategy wins the day?
  • 234 worship at the solo QB alter. Delusional to a fault. Why spend 8 on Darnold when I can get two extra defenses instead? Who’s the idiot now?
  • 60 are team Wonder Twin Powers Activate! Shape of a Ford, form of a sneeze..Achane. these RB duo believers are also in charge of the Highlander microbrewery. Coincidence?
  • 26 zealots do battle with minimum WR. “My two WR can beat the lot of yours with one paw tied behind their backs!” No one invites these guys over to the Highlander parties and blocks these trolls on social media.
  • 532 TE believers of the Grey Skull sept are hunkered down watching He-Man episodes living in their parents basement.
  • 1101 K soloists are warring with each other as well as the other groups.
    1. Smallest faction knows Soccer is the only real futball and a single soccer player kicking in the NFL easily beats the rest
    2. Johnny Lawrence Cobra Kai Dojo doesn’t care what anyone thinks. We don’t roster kickers who come in second place. The K in Kicker stands for me winning the big Karate tournament …er something like that. Ho-waaa!!!! Made you flinch…loser
  • 1177 ain’t no joke in the Highlander universe. The best offense is an elite defense. This group always pays for the Lock of the week from 900 numbers.

My Mahomes/Geno combo has netted me 23, 23, and 22. Here are the other QB's I would've used so far:
Allen, Mayfield, Hurts, Daniels, Jackson, Richardson, Carr, Stroud, Tagovailoa, Love, Murray, Darnold, Fields, Prescott, Watson, Purdy, Dalton, Levis, Rodgers, Burrow, Williams, Cousins, and Jones

That appears to be the rest of the field of choices left remaining to you that have actually put up points in games this year so far. Nice post.

eta: You left off Goff.

Goff has 16, 13, and 21
Stafford has 20, 10, and 17
Lawrence has 14, 15, and 14
Herbert has 13, 19, and 12
Nix has 14, 12, and 21

These are pretty much the only QB's left worth mentioning

Anyone else having issues trying to access that webpage that shows the scores for all your players over every week? I forget who set it up so can’t remember who to “at”

Well my team of stacked eagles with Hurts/AJB/Devonta has me on Turk watch a week earlier than expected with both WRs out. Need some miracles.
Your top 2 WR's aren't all you'll be missing. You do have Walker, so I hope he comes back strong for you. Swift and Javonte have been trash, and Wright has barely touched the ball. Conklin finally came to life, but just as McBride goes out. And you have to take whatever Dicker gets you. I'll be pulling for Geno, Rashee, Khalil, Taysom, and Dicker, and I wish you the best.

I'm mainly wishing I had Allen and Darnold instead of Mahomes. Which I considered. Darnold had the bye with Mahomes or it would have been an easy choice. Not sure how I let myself get suckered into a big Mahomes passing season for now. Defense may be too good.

To find that $8 I had a lot of moving Kupp off for JaJuan jennings and some receiver with costs in the teens. Finally decided I wanted a big gun WR 🤦

Sure, it's easy to say it now, but the season is still young. Mahomes went from 28 and 25 pass attempts in the first 2 games to 39 in game 3. Sure, the yardage sucked, but it will come. WHEN my team lets me down, my guess is it won't be because of my Mahomes/Geno duo.

Fairly common players (over 500) OUT for week 4 include:

QB
838 - Tua Tagovailoa
You have to go all the way down to Bryce Young (387) to find the next guy. Sure, Love is iffy, but overall, the QB's are healthy. Their numbers just suck!

RB
935 - Isiah Pacheco
530 - Nick Chubb

WR
1208 - Cooper Kupp
834 - Tank Dell
614 - Devonta Smith

TE
834 - David Njoku
712 - Trey McBride
537 - Evan Engram

Hopefully you don't have too many players on this list.

My rooster don't want none,
if you're on i.R. son!

I'm one of the lucky few to dodge injuries this season.

Some may have noticed I did a 'soft launch' of the live cutline last week, it was close to accurate, but not quite as there were still a couple underlying issues with live scoring. But now I think we're in a good place so I'm announcing there is a live cut now.

So if you want to be SUPER plugged in to your contest team, beyond any reasonable degree: go to https://tensionmask.com/fbgcontest and follow the instructions to load up your team.
-full-season team stats on one page
-live scoring with cutline
-continue to track your team after elimination! I know nothing motivates my guys to perform more than being eliminated from the contest :)

Thanks to all who helped me with feedback on the live scoring, and thanks to the awesome people who have treated me to coffees!

Not sure why it's showing 14 points at the moment for the Atlanta Defense..... on one fumble recovery and one defensive TD. ?? I think it should be 8 points.

EDIT/UPDATE... Now Atlanta has: 1 INT, 1 Fumble Recovery, 2 TDs, and shows 22 points. Should be 16 points.

Looking into it, my stat feed is saying the defense has 2 TD which is not right, so, I guess we see when they clean that up..

It's right now. You were just a little early
Should it be 16? 12 for the 2 TD's, 2 for the INT, and 2 for the fumble recovery?

-full-season team stats on one page
-live scoring with cutline
-continue to track your team after elimination! I know nothing motivates my guys to perform more than being eliminated from the contest :)

Thanks to all who helped me with feedback on the live scoring, and thanks to the awesome people who have treated me to coffees!

Is live cutline not working today, or is it just still legit at zero so far (presumably due to teams whose players are all in the late Sunday/Monday games and/or injured?)
