I’m with you on this one. Sure it’s injury insurance but I’d rather pay for a handcuff for my starter that will actually put up very good numbers if the starter goes down (Mason, Charbs) but then I don’t want to spend that much $$$ on that combo of RBs in the first place. My question above is legit. We started a decent discussion about it. If a scrub $2 or $3 option scores 6 points each week, are they worth it, or just a waste of money and a roster spot?
Allen.Who is going to be more common this year - Diggs for $13 or Allen for $5?
To answer your question with WRs in mind, I imagine that’s where most of us go bargain hunting. Seems much easier/more likely for a random $3 WR to have a great week, or move from #4 WR to #3 WR on his team, and in best ball format it seems like the place to make some cheap betsMy question above is legit. We started a decent discussion about it. If a scrub $2 or $3 option scores 6 points each week, are they worth it, or just a waste of money and a roster spot?
One of the suggestions was a RB who gets 1 carry for 1 yard and a TD every single week. He leads the league in TD's and is useless in this contest. Your scrubs need the capability to have some monster weeks, or become starters. If not, what good is a guy who is your 3rd highest flex every week?I’m with you on this one. Sure it’s injury insurance but I’d rather pay for a handcuff for my starter that will actually put up very good numbers if the starter goes down (Mason, Charbs) but then I don’t want to spend that much $$$ on that combo of RBs in the first place. My question above is legit. So I end up usually with 5 starters at RB and spend money elsewhere.
ETa: sorry I focused on RBs when that wasn’t specifically your question. It’s just that I was LITERALLY messing with my line up, trading in a $11 RB for a couple of cheaper RBs…and switched it back immediately. so I had RBs in the brain.
Honestly, in prior years there was always a really good 2 or 3 dollar option at rb who was already a starter and everyone had him.My question above is legit. We started a decent discussion about it. If a scrub $2 or $3 option scores 6 points each week, are they worth it, or just a waste of money and a roster spot?
I am getting fonder for Golden as the days pass by. Reed was recently spotted in a walking boot, and Golden could be GB's WR1 for a mere $12. Love or hate this FF doctor, here's a video...I’ve had this grouping of WRs for a while now and I think only a major injury or other major news will move me off of them:
WR - Courtland Sutton - DEN/12 - $19
WR - Mike Evans - TB/9 - $18
WR - Jakobi Meyers - LV/8 - $16
WR - Matthew Golden - GB/5 - $12
WR - Joshua Palmer - BUF/7 - $7
WR - Keenan Allen - LAC/12 - $5
I guess some folks who don’t believe in Golden would say he’s the first one to swap out, but I like him.

Diggs is attractive at that price, BUT he has the dreaded Week 14 bye.Who is going to be more common this year - Diggs for $13 or Allen for $5?
Agree. I think picking one in that range is fine but I don’t think taking a bunch of them is a good strategy since there are many “cheap” & much better options in the $5-$7 range. Would I take 1 of those vs 2-3 of the super cheap guys. Yeah, likely. My question above is legit. We started a decent discussion about it. If a scrub $2 or $3 option scores 6 points each week, are they worth it, or just a waste of money and a roster spot?
Yes it’s a good question. I can’t imagine having a team with no studs. If your team doesn’t include some $15-$29 players then I don’t see a point.Who is going to be more common this year - Diggs for $13 or Allen for $5?

I like a bunch of the $18-20 guys. Of course a few share bye weeks, but I like the combinations I’m getting from have 3 from that grouping.QB - Dak Prescott - DAL/10 - $18

Agree. Find more and more it is 4-5 RBs and lots of WR’s on my iterations.

Agreed. Not much of any value to be found at $2-$3. I do find them to be a waste of money and a roster spot. On the other hand, there is quite a bit of value to be had in $5-$8 value range.Agree. I think picking one in that range is fine but I don’t think taking a bunch of them is a good strategy since there are many “cheap” & much better options in the $5-$7 range. Whichever $2 player scores 6.1 points every week is definitely a viable player. Over the years, I always read posts that state, amazingly I advanced and with one or two zero scores, so they would definitely provide injury and ineptitude insurance. My question above is legit. We started a decent discussion about it. If a scrub $2 or $3 option scores 6 points each week, are they worth it, or just a waste of money and a roster spot?

I chose those 3 from @scottybo roster to show just how lopsided the points per dollars are. They are all $11 each, and I think many folks consider them all decent contest options. But, I will be doing my best to get my flex scores from WR's and TE's.

what if I said you get WR / TE bench for floor and "bestball" upside (i.e. flex), and you get RB bench for lottery tickets? more generally, does the ideal roster spend zero on lottery tickets?
That would be awesome for Mason, and money well spent. The lowest any RB finished last year in this contest with double digit TD's was RB18.I think that Mason will be heavily used at the goal line.
