this is similar but not exactly the same as Philly falling from grace last season after going 10-1
Similar and IMO predictable as both were under similar circumstances which to be exact was absolutely back breaking brutal schedules.
I think it fractured and broke the Eagles. Despite the losses I don't think it broke the Steelers. In fact they came out of this stretch as healthy as they've been in awhile which was a huge concern of mine for who they'd look from a health angle after this stretch.
I like the Steeler's to get the win tomorrow. They want to get a win to feel like things are back on track, fairly healthy and whlie the Bengals know they need to win to have a chance I think they know KC's backups beating Denver will be a longshot and I think that will take a little emotion out of it for them-not the same as controlling your destiny.
As a Steelers fan I'll pull for them tomorrow but I must admit the perfect outcome would be the Steelers, Broncos and Chargers all losing and Cincy getting the win. This would enable the Steeles to face the Texans in round one, put Cincy in KC where they can legit win all of which would then put the Steelers potentially in Baltimore in the next round. It also makes for a better playoffs IMO for everyone with Cincy being involved(except Denver and maybe KC fans). But I don't think the Broncos or Chargers will lose, especially Denver, so I'm just going to hope the Steelers take care of business so they can face the Texans next week.
Where will the Steelers look at QB in the off season?
I'm of the opinion that Mike Tomlin is extremely fond of Russell Wilson, much more then people realize. I mean that as much as a person as a football player but performance of course matters.
These next few weeks will factor into the equation of course. Russ needs to cut down the till timed turnovers and if the Steelers want to roll it back agree on a reasonable contract-one I hope allows the Steelers and out after the 2025 season. He's the odds on favorite IMO to be the starter next year but a lot up in the air still. Should things not work out with him I'm not so sure they turn to Fields. I don't think this happens but could be a fun story to see Steelers do something similar with Russ where they sign Cousins for league minimum. The fun part of that story, is it would pair Cousins with Arthur Smith(if he's back) and create the narrative of them both sticking it to the Falcons. But again, I think Tomlin likes Wilson a lot, just needs him to clean up the ill timed turnovers and agree to a reasonable deal and if he does those things I think you can bank on him returning as the starter.
