This is a good start. I am trying to take the sheet from the GP2 and fit this one into it. It was very nice with pull downs for each round with their allowed categories. The tricky part will be having user-specific 'home' categories in the pull downs. I'll play with it a bit.

the Acclaimed Music playlist sort of gives me a feel for the opposite goal posts at the year 2000.  It really doesn't seem like that long ago, but you could fit Buddy Holly to Johnny Rotten in a two decade span of music.  It's a pretty safe guess that the past twenty years have produced more music than any other similar period in history.  Some may disagree about quality but on a pure quantity basis, I think there's simply more today.

Yeah, I'm trying to reconcile my preference for shorter mixes with the natural tendency of the Genrepalooza format towards excess.  Couple that with the aforementioned sheer volume of 21st century music to choose from.

Maybe we're better off doing paired rounds (e.g. 1-2 with current categories, 3-4 for the next ones) and 2x rolls for each category.  I guess we have five picks to figure it out

I was going to start off with punk or emo but decided to do trap for that exact reason. I like my pick, but the more I think about it, the more the aughts and teens have had R & B and trap to spare.

It's a jazz piano trio but with a more composed sound than the usual theme-solos-theme structure of jazz records.  Parks' piano follows an unpredictable but logical path through the song,  grounded by a insistently looping drum track.
