They can come back. The draft goes until every category randomly comes up 2x.Wait, so will this be the end for these categories, or will they possibly come around again?

Thanks man.Nice story and great song. One tip for picks, we usually bold the selection so it stands out for those scanning through to see what’s taken.
If the dice don't cooperate and there's popular demand for it, 2x may become 3xThey can come back. The draft goes until every category randomly comes up 2x.
I wasn't planning on doing two rounds per set of dice rolls like last time. We could if that's what people want.I've forgotten from previous Palooza's----are we allowed to take 2 songs from the same category in back to back rounds? And if yes, does that include our home category in this draft?
It sounds like The Chipmunks are part of this band.
1 - Long Ball LarryRPG Library Secure Dice generated the following rolls for .
6d100, rolled once.
Roll set 1
Die rolls: 23, 91, 71, 50, 8, 1
Roll subtotal: 244
Roll total: 244
This is a good start. I am trying to take the sheet from the GP2 and fit this one into it. It was very nice with pull downs for each round with their allowed categories. The tricky part will be having user-specific 'home' categories in the pull downs. I'll play with it a bit.
I called your 1st-round pick as soon as I saw you sign up for this. Definitely a consideration at 1.01 but figured I'd give you first crack.Category: R&B
1.xx Gnarles Barkley - Crazy
Anyone who knows me, knows why this is the perfect start for me.
@Adam Harstad played this for me in his car as we drove to his wedding cruise in '08.
I will never - ever - forget. It was at the lowest point of my mental stability in my entire life.
His family - who didn't know me from Adam....wait....
Well, they treated me like family. I love them all. And, I am now at the best mental state of my life.
Adam played a role in that.
Thnx Adam.
I just checked out your link. Nice. It's a beautiful day in SF. I'm going to ride my bike to the beach and listen to this on shuffle. I'll work on the Google Sheet when I get back.

If there's only 15 of us drafting, hell yes. I'm fine with either going to 3x of each category or up-and-back with each pair.MOAR ROUNDS
the Acclaimed Music playlist sort of gives me a feel for the opposite goal posts at the year 2000. It really doesn't seem like that long ago, but you could fit Buddy Holly to Johnny Rotten in a two decade span of music. It's a pretty safe guess that the past twenty years have produced more music than any other similar period in history. Some may disagree about quality but on a pure quantity basis, I think there's simply more today.I just checked out your link. Nice.
I can't believe how many on this are already on my Spotify playlists.
Maybe this won't be as difficult for me as I assumed. However, I do want to try and fit in some of my favs that are more obscure.
Regardless, I am shuffling this now also.
I don't think I'll make it all the way to the beach, but Las Vegas may be possible...
We shall see.
Yeah, I'm trying to reconcile my preference for shorter mixes with the natural tendency of the Genrepalooza format towards excess. Couple that with the aforementioned sheer volume of 21st century music to choose from.MOAR ROUNDSI wasn't planning on doing two rounds per set of dice rolls like last time. LOL. I am in Louisville, KY - so I just threw out LV to be stupid...We were supposed to be in Las Vegas this afternoon for this weekend's Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly festival. We had hotel reservations since last year but I cancelled about six weeks ago due to some health issues. Oh well, the 21st century hasn't been big for rockabilly anyways.
No idea if an acoustic version of a 90s song recorded lord knows when and .released on a 2000s compilation qualifies. But it's a great songGoing to go with the Acoustic category as my 'Home'...so here is a quick pick.
1.11 - Foo Fighters - Everlong (Acoustic) from their 2006 Greatest Hits Album.
Helium was definitely involved somehow. It sounds like The Chipmunks are part of this band.
It seems the Greatest Hits version was recorded in 1998 after a Howard Stern Show.No idea if an acoustic version of a 90s song recorded lord knows when and .released on a 2000s compilation qualifies. But it's a great song
No limit on songs per category. You could conceivably draft from your home category in every round. But in that case, it might as well be a list.I forget the exact rules. What's the limit (if any) on the number of songs we get for each category?
Second-guessing both my home category and my first pick here.
I was going to start off with punk or emo but decided to do trap for that exact reason. I like my pick, but the more I think about it, the more the aughts and teens have had R & B and trap to spare. No limit on songs per category. Uh hmm, so the 21st century technically started on January 1, 2001Category: None of the Above
1.10 Dersu (A slight return) - Charlie Hunter
Spotify says this is from 2000, so hopefully accurate.

I'm no Ignoratio Elenchi, but if my math is even directionally correct, adding another set (i.e. going through each category 3x instead of 2x) should add 12*(ln ln 12)/2, or about 5.5 rounds on average. Whereas if we go up-and-back on each pair it'll obviously double the rounds.Yeah, I'm trying to reconcile my preference for shorter mixes with the natural tendency of the Genrepalooza format towards excess. Maybe we're better off doing paired rounds (e.g. 1-2 with current categories, 3-4 for the next ones) and 2x rolls for each category. I guess we have five picks to figure it out![]()
I dig the exactitude, but when it comes to music, c'mon. There's a reason SXM's '90s on 9 plays songs from 1990-99 and not from 1991-2000.That guy with a delayed sense of how time works?

Much bigger difference than I would have assumed but, again, I'm fine with either.
Genrepalooza 1 had around 20 categories and we rolled three categories per pair of rounds. It took 44 rounds for the last category to come up once.I'm no Ignoratio Elenchi, but if my math is even directionally correct, adding another set (i.e. going through each category 3x instead of 2x) should add 12*(ln ln 12)/2, or about 5.5 rounds on average. Is that the one where trip-hop came up like the first 3 rounds in a row? Good times.Genrepalooza 1 had around 20 categories and we rolled three categories per pair of rounds. It took 44 rounds for the last category to come up once.
