It was a tremendous raid. (1 Viewer)

Trump team has been provided list of what was taken from his place. They have til Friday to say which items were planted by the FBI.

Any guesses which stuff was planted?

FYI - @Stealthycat has already stated he would vote for Trump again against a democrat. I'm sure anyone running in a GOP primary that could restore sanity to the GOP would be dismissed as a RINO. So, I don't think any such recognition matters.

and all the local Democrats here would vote for any Dem candidate, even Biden, over a Republican in 2024

some things are what they are
False. There are several republicans I would vote for over Biden…and if Hillary somehow managed to win a nomination I would never vote for her.
So no…would not vote for any dem over any Republican. I would not vote for Trump or Desantis..thats true

The Trump team can also prove exactly what Trump declassified by providing a written declaration.

Good luck getting anything in writing.

He's provided a mental declaration and truthed about it on his half rate Twitter clone. That's the same IMO

Just had a wicked business idea. Twitter clone, but you have to go under oath to post anything and can be found guilty of perjury if you lie on it.

ETA: Lawyerguys, if there is a way to make this happen, let me know. Difficulty of it being "perjury" outside of a court and/or official setting is the sticking point. Not sure if it's possible. Would be so great if it was, part of the problem with this country right now is that politicians can just straight up lie without consequence in social media. Having a method for them to put some personal risk behind their words might result in more truth and less lies, especially if people decide they won't take someone's word on Twitter and demand accountability be attached to their statement.

This is how things should be. Unfortunately, reality is different. Most of those arguing against you believe that Trump and his political followers are unique and different and that a more traditional GOP'er would be a fine alternative to the liberal extremism of establishment center Biden.

I could never vote for anyone who supported Trump after seeing him in office for a few years (or after being in office). I'll give you a mulligan for 2016, but anyone who supported him in 2020 or later showed a clear lack of judgment. Has nothing to do with (R) or (D).

No...they were not witch hunts

has the GOP ever conducted a witch hunt - pulling anything they can just to try and oust a political opponent ?

Now, please answer the following question, ignoring for a moment who we're talking about: What should the government do when it becomes aware that someone has possession of classified information he shouldn't have?

I'm not sure - I don't know all the details of how the information was gathered, how solid they thought it was or anything like that

again, I go back to Bill ... the GOP were absolutely trying anything they could and they found a little something with Monica and they hammered and searched and finally found ..... it was a hunt, and they finally got Bill to lie under oath and even then, they couldn't oust him

it was like that every week with Trump - Russia, tax filing, Stormy, Russia again, taxes again, Trump foundation, Trump U, taxes, Russia, then Ukraine over and over and on and on .... Demorats go low low low when they don't get their way

exactly - thank you for seeing and agreeing - when its a political hunt, its a political hunt ... GOP did it, DNC did it
To be clear I wasn’t agreeing with anything you wrote.

I just found if funny how just a mere 5 minutes after you implied that the GOP would never conduct a witch hunt to oust a political opponent, YOU posted that the GOP conducted witch hunt in an attempt to oust political opponent Bill Clinton.

It reminded me of this part of the Rick James skit from Chapple Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC5LaHUnQMA

Show us that one instance where the rioters were let in the Capitol and it would be easy for us to show you hundreds of instances where there was a there were struggles and blood shed. This BS showing one clip of a few officers letting them by while ignoring all the other video showing absolute chaos and fighting is sickening. Over 140 officers were injured and it wasn't because they were "letting them by"

If they had the decency and patriotism to watch the select commitee hearings they would know what really happened. Words from Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards....

"When I fell behind that line and I saw, I can just remember my breath catching in my throat, because what I saw was just a war scene,” she said. “It was something like I had seen out of the movies. I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were officers on the ground. They were bleeding, they were throwing up. I mean, I saw friends with blood all over their faces. I was slipping in people’s blood.”

I don't understand how a single person in law enforcement could still support Trump.

I'm not saying SC isn't a good dude, I'm sure he is. I'm thinking he's getting a lot of laughs at stringing us asking endlessly though. I have a sick sense of humor too, so I'm definitely not saying he's a bad guy or anything.
He’s not trolling.

As someone else said, there are millions of SC's in this country who will give Trump the benefit of the doubt no matter what. Who distrust our government and because Trump has told them that only he tells the truth and that he is unfairly persecuted only because Trump has the best interest of the common man, not big corporations.

Despite Trump's entire life and career prior to government telling an exactly opposite story. This is the dude who perpetuated the Obama isn't an American hoax for years and years. He stole from a children's charity and bilked his supporters out of millions via a fake university. He also publicly admitted to doing the same thing as Weinstein.

Yet he somehow is the bastion of truth and all attempts to hold him accountable are witch hunts.

Is this something the DOJ can have the appeals court handle again?

ETA:
emptywheel@emptywheel
For those asking: NO, DOJ can't appeal, nor can Dearie.

Apparently this is the only option the DOJ can pursue: "A (writ of) mandamus is an order from a court to an inferior government official ordering the government official to properly fulfill their official duties or correct an abuse of discretion."

ETA2: apparently the DOJ's appeal of her full initial ruling might provide some relief as well.

Maybe a lawyer can sort this out for us?

I think there are only 2 realist options as I see it.…

1.she knew the original ruling was hot garbage but out of loyalty to Trump wrote it knowing it would likely get overturn. In this option there is no embarrassment as it was the equivalent of repaying a debt.

2. she’s convicted and blinded by her beliefs and therefore doesn’t see this current ruling as correct. In this option there is also no embarrassment.
She a true believer, but there's likely still embarrassment. When she reads the 11th Circuit opinion, she won't be able to help thinking, "Yeah, when it's put that way, that seems like a good point. I probably flubbed that issue." (Repeated about seven times.)
Well so much for her being embarrassed.

I get the feeling that she'll eventually try and monetize this somehow. Book deal, talking head on Fox, a grift...

Yes, I know she has a lifetime appointment and it probably pays decently, but that's like, actual work and stuff.

It's impossible to be embarrassed when you don't have any shame.

She's probably like twice as embarrassed now.

Wow, I didn't realize that Trump's lawyers argued in court that Trump could in fact murder people without repercussion.

Lindsey Graham said Trump could 'kill 50' members of the GOP and 'it wouldn't matter': book

Years later, his lawyers defended that remark, saying in a court hearing that he could not be investigated or criminally prosecuted if he did in fact shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue.

"At the time, Judge Denny Chin pressed Trump lawyer William Consovoy on the limits of presidential immunity, referencing Trump's remarks about shooting someone.

"Nothing can be done, that's your position?" Chin asked Consovoy, Insider's Sonam Sheth reported.

"That is correct, that is correct," Consovoy replied."
The admiration of DJT by about 30 -35% is historical in the sense that he is likely the most despicable person to have that amount of admiration in US history.
Trying to think of others. These came to mind:

1. Columbus
2. Pete Rose
3. Michael Jackson
4. Roman Polansky
5. Alfred Hitchcock

Debatable:
1. Robert E. Lee (I think it is hard to post-judge him now, but obviously what he did was pretty objectively bad)
2. Joseph McCarthy (Did he maintain his admiration?)
3. John Wayne (seems still beloved when he was really, really terrible to people - mostly women)
5. Mother Theresa (maybe not truly despicable so doesn't qualify, but definitively overrated)
6. Walt Disney (racist and misognystic)
7. Elvis (hebephile)

I’m familiar with the sins of all these folks but Hitchcock - what did he do?

It also seems like several Republican Senators are throwing cold water on the telepathic declassification ruse. These guys can read the tea leaves and know things, so the fact they're willing to go this far is the best signal this isn't going to end well for Trump.

I’m still not 100% convinced it will happen but if/when they all start turning on him and backing Desantis it will be an amazing thing to watch.

We are hoping for this, the sooner the better.

Basically allegedly terrorized and sexually assaulted female actresses. Also pretty racist.

All jokes! Haha! Remember all of those times you joked with friends about sexually assaulting women? All men do it! Locker room talk! So funny! /sarcasm

I've read many times here that racism basically doesn't exist. Assuming all white guys posting that. /notsarcasm

Are you opposed to hiring 100,000 more police officers?

It would be great. Where are you going to get them? Academy enrollment is way down, and cities want the cops to be personably responsible now.
