The Counting Crows were good tonight. It was weird seeing Adam Duritz with no dreadlock wig or facial hair.  Frank Turner opened for the band, and I liked him.

Cool. The Counting Crows get a bad rap, but they're fine by me.

Frank Turner is like a folk/punk God to a lot of people. I drafted him in Genrepalooza, actually.

This is the song I drafted.

I Believed You, William Blake

I remember it because it's about a woman who believed her more-than-eccentric husband but is having doubts as she dies.

It's really moving. He's quite good at that, apparently. I have friends back East (home) who love him.

Mr. William Blake
There's one promise you must make
Dear William, if you're right
About life on the other side, about Paradise
Then you must promise me
That you won't leave me when you leave
This world that didn't believe
Be a comfort to your wife
She gave you up her one and only certain life

Don't you leave me in my grave
I believed you William Blake
I'll be with you, damned or saved
Don't you leave me in my grave
I believed you William Blake

Frank was fun. There was a guy that played with him on the mandolin. Frank was wearing a black Paul McCartney shirt. When he came back on stage near the end of the CC's show and joined them, he had on a black shirt that said something about Punk.

Very cool. My friends really dig him. He just did a split recording with Fat Mike of NOFX, doing each other's old songs. I can't believe I haven't sat down and listened to it yet.

I always worried this would be me. Good news: It isn't.

Bob

Hey, that was the first pick in 276-300, meaning 401-425 becomes the last grouping with a pick!  Congrats to 401-425 - you are the best grouping!

she was a fast machine

she kept her motor clean

she was the best damn woman

that i've ever seen

she had sightless eyes

tellin me no lies

and knocking me out

with those american thighs

sniped again

acdc's best singalong if you ask me.

Northern Voice was being skipped, so in the interest of moving it along...

I'll never forget when I heard this for the first time, either. This blew my mind. I can't believe I'm passing on Marvin Gaye for this, but I am. wikkid would wonder, but then he'd know.

3.19 - Hey Ya! (10) - Outkast

Ah, OK, so @cosjobs won't have to wait, I'm sticking with my strategy.  This grouping didn't excite me to begin with, and attrition has made it very unappealing with only a couple of exceptions.

Speaking of Bay City Rollers (weren't we?  a few pages ago?), I love that these guys thought that's what they were doing:

3.20  Ramones - Sheena Is A Punk Rocker (#434)
