Music Draft - Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Garbage List - Now with unhealthy regional pork-stuffs! (1 Viewer)

I'm kind of surprised Run the Jewels aren't on this list at all - just because they are THE modern hip-hop band that seems to appeal to indie/mainstream/dad/rolling stone rock crowds.

The democratic methodology of the RS list moved it away from the usual rock critic canon.

All three Radiohead songs still on the board including his namesake
There's no way that would happen if he were here.

As for me, there was no way I was ever taking Creep (unless the alternative was something I hated) and the other two are in blocs I've ignored so far.

Merriam Webster's dictionary defines soup as:

1: a liquid food especially with a meat, fish, or vegetable stock as a base and often containing pieces of solid food

2: something (such as a heavy fog or nitroglycerine) having or suggesting the consistency or nutrient qualities of soup

3: an unfortunate predicament

However, it is generally agreed that a soup does not need to be served warm, nor does it be definition need to be comprised of meat, fish, or vegetables.  In this essay, I will demonstrate that breakfast cereal should be considered -
Does a hotdog soup count as soup and a sandwich?

I'm going to guess it's not getting back to me but I may still open one more beer...

Song/band that isn't on the list at all but should be

Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand

(this is partially a ploy to see if the conspicuously quiet rockaction is still around and I should stay up)

Just poured a cocktail here.  A 1:1 of Lillet Blanc and Grand Marnier, with 2 dashes of orange bitters.  It doesn't have a name, but it's my go-to "I want an easy cocktail and I don't really want to drink whiskey" drink.  I'm christening it as the Channel Orange cocktail, effective immediately.

This sounds fantastic.  Could you fax one to me?

Soup: Italian Sausage and Mushroom

Song:  Only Shallow - My Bloody Valentine

Unless I've missed it, which I doubt, I'm surprised MBV didn't put a song in top 500.   Or not.
This is a great one and my only thought is they don't quite have that signature song. "Only Shallow" is probably the closest there is - and great - but I don't know how much it exists currently outside music nerd circles.

I assume we're done for the night.  I will NOT be getting up early to put my pick in, even if I'm awake, which of course I will be.

I'm having some buddies up to the cottage tomorrow for a beer share - everyone tell @Steve Tasker he should find a way to make it, so we can do some live picks for everyone.. - in any case, I'll be checking in and around but if I'm gone for a long time, I fell in the lake, you can skip me.

I've crunched the numbers and decided I could settle on my next-round pick.  I'm sending it to @rockactionsince he picks just after me.  If it's taken by AP or cos, then you'll just have to wait until I get back here again, and I'm making no promises.

Deuces.
