. It may not come across the same in writing but my poor niece (who is now mid 20s and an accountant and doing very well for herself) still hasn't lived it down and shingles = bricks in our family now. Quite a few of the songs I never heard of on the RS list are also ranked highly on this one. Obviously a consensus has formed without me.
Its melody was stolen for David Essex' Rock On, so maybe it's considered influential?![]()
'Ey, 'ey, 'ey, 'ey!
Also, since when did One become the consensus best U2 song?Quite a few of the songs I never heard of on the RS list are also ranked highly on this one. Obviously a consensus has formed without me.![]()
I just got my first old person discount. It was awesome and sad all at once.My "celebration" of becoming an old person continues. Last month I had my first colonoscopy and tomorrow I'm getting my shingles vaccine. Hopefully that won't knock me out, but I'll advise if things are heading that way.
Does that disappoint you? Also, since when did One become the consensus best U2 song?

There are many to choose from their catalog ... but how strong a contender for U2's best is "Pride (In the Name of Love)"? At least an easy Top 5 from them, right? Also, since when did One become the consensus best U2 song?
They have a lot to choose from. There are many to choose from their catalog ... but how strong a contender for U2's best is "Pride (In the Name of Love)"? At least an easy Top 5 from them, right?
That would be on many lists, though not on mine. There are many to choose from their catalog ... but how strong a contender for U2's best is "Pride (In the Name of Love)"? At least an easy Top 5 from them, right?
It is, and I was shocked that it didn't show up on the RS 500 list. Same with Sunday Bloody Sunday, though that could be hampered by the studio version being inferior to the Under the Blood Red Sky version. There are many to choose from their catalog ... but how strong a contender for U2's best is "Pride (In the Name of Love)"? Not so much a fan of ABBA but my dad and I have season Tix to OSU Beaver baseball and all the kids have walk up music when they come to bat....Steven Kwan a few years back had this song as his walk up.....kid was a stud, and all around good dude so it was actually pretty cool and unique....I'd say like 90% of the kids have either hip hop or country

Ditto. I'd have to brush up on Pop, All That and Dismantle, but I could work with those. Post-Dismantle stuff, not so much.I would have participated in JML’s U2 song ranking thread if I could have omitted their last 4 albums from ‘04 on.
R.E.M.'s version of "First We Take Manhattan" is a gem - but there's a ton of good stuff on there. Disappointing that one never made it to Spotify.Eephus said:The late 80s early 90s were the golden age of tribute albums and the Cohen tribute I'm Your Fan was one of the best. Sadly, it's not on Spotify like a lot of records of this ilk.
There's a playlist on YouTube that follows the European running order that demotes REM to side 2.
Like you, I was OK however it shook out. I like the Mark Robson remix a bit better, but this is definitely Britney’s most interesting pop hit.Steve Tasker said:16.02 - Britney Spears - "Toxic" (#114)
Feel like this will pair well with Mariah and Whitney.
I will mercifully end the Mexican standoff between me and @Ramsay Hunt Experience in the 101-125 category with this one. While I like the other option fine, I greatly prefer this one and have had it in mind since long before some people were Britney-bashing earlier in the thread.
I feel like this song is only in here because of the music video. The sheer bodysuit. The neon red hair. Tyson Beckford. What's not to like? But the song is also an underappreciated pop gem.
Whatever is needed, get it guys. I’ve discussed the reason for my screen name before, but shingles in your ear is no ####### joke.Yo Mama said:It was one shot but pretty sure you need a booster after a few years or something. Don’t quote me though.

this was another tune blasting out of a car radio outside my pad the other day... it's legit. I would've been very happy to take it a bunch of rounds ago.Well let’s see here. There’s the whiny Coldplay song that the wife loves- no ####### way am I selecting a Coldplay song. Then there’s that Eric Church tune about Springsteen- so lame. I kinda like the Cardi B thing, but there’s also a minor disco classic. Screw it give me the minor disco classic.

Funkadelic- One Nation Under a Groove (1978) #210
Got a little disco-ed out by this point, missing some of their grit and raunch... but still a classic I'd been eyeing for a while.
