NFL Preseason 2018 Game Observations Thread (1 Viewer)

Why?

Very different players in my view.

Drake certainly does not have the track record or body of work in college that Cook had. So if your point is about the small sample size of NFL games for these players, I have a lot more games to work with when comparing them than what they have done in the NFL so far.
Yeah my point is small sample size, viewing them in this "workhorse" type of role.  College games have very little effect on their NFL career after they've put game tape on in the NFL.  It means nothing anymore.  I have them ranked at RB16 and 17 for dynasty right now, I'm assuming that's low for Cook and maybe high for Drake though, but he's being criminally undervalued since he's the only bright spot on that Dolphins team.

But the reasons to be optimistic on Cook are the same for Drake no?  Different types of players sure, but projecting that workload they seem to be about even.

what kind of numbers did you post against them? :)

I ripped the ball right out of Keenan's hand and made a fast move to the rack...where he called "Travel" on me and I was like "my bad, Im pretty Stoned right now. Keenan replys " I am too bro" ...I gotta admit I was a bit star struck when I realized who he was.. Ive been hooping yhere for years and all of a sudden half the Chargers start balling there:)

Hes got game for sure.... Keenan has a good head fake/wiggle and has a solid 3 point shot..I also know hes playing nowhere near as hard as he could...

I also played 3 on 3 with Geno Smith...he's not good at all

While I think there are other people who share your view that what the players have done prior to them playing in the NFL means nothing, I disagree with that.

Personally I try to consider all of the information about a player in trying to judge their relative value and I think it is appropriate to do so in this circumstance of players who have a small sample size in the NFL. The college performance helps to fill that gap in information.

My goodness. John Miller with 2 false starts, a personal foul, and gave up 2 sacks.

Bills O-line has given up FIVE sacks already. If they're that bad, it's not going to matter WHO the starter at QB is.

Anyone hoping for a healthy Tyler Eifert to put up good fantasy numbers can forget it. In the first half, Tyler Kroft caught 2/2 for 28, while Eifert caught 1/3 for 11 including a drop. That 13-TD season in 2015 is a distant outlier.

I'm struggling to recall an oline that seems fine with run blocking but can't pass block to the extent I'm seeing in this game.  Usually its the other way around.  I'm bailing off the Allen train.

I feel like the same people who were dismissive of Corey Coleman’s long TD against Vontae Davis on twitter are the same people posting about a John Ross breakout over one play. No consistency, only hype for the unknown vs the player who has already disappointed.

Vonte Davis hasn't had a good season for awhile. Was glad the Colts moved on from him

I don’t disagree but you can’t have it both ways. I think the only thing to conclude from both is that Vontae Davis sucks on the deep ball now and is someone I’ll want to look at who he’s lining up across on a weekly basis.
I am not really concerned about Davis. We knew Ross could run fast, but he didn't score because he was fast. On that one play he stopped, knew where he was on the field well enough to make a move against two defenders, then stop and cut back again. He showed all of the short area quickness we saw in college, which is one of the things I wanted to see him do on an nfl field. I agree that this one data point doesn't mean he'll be catching 50 yard touchdowns every week, but it's nice to see him do those things against two nfl d backs.

I still would like to see him do well with other routes before I get too excited. This is just one data point.

But there are others.  The bengals using such an early pick on him. Lewis and his usage of rookies, plus the shoulder issues we heard about after the season.  All the positive talk from camp this off season.  The Bengals cutting lafell and naming him a starter. Ross catching a two point conversion last week. And now seeing a very nice play against an nfl opponent.

He's also had several passes thrown his way that he didn't catch, and dalton under threw him on this one, which almost everyone said he would as soon as Ross was drafted.  So we're still learning what he can be.

What I know is this - I wouldn't be willing to start him week 1 or to to have him as my first guy off the bench.  But i'd love to get him at his current adp and he's absolutely a target in the latter rounds in best ball because that was a 12 point play.

The fact that Lenoir has been on the Cowboys this long is a testament to the Jones’, Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan.

I suppose it would help someone who has never watched football before but idk.

It's ridiculous
There is already a yellow line- that is easy to understand. I feel like adding this green zone thing makes it even more confusing for someone who doesn't know anything about football.

Phins offense looks like hot garbage

I amend my previous analysis as I am currently watching phins/Ravens game and the O actually looked decent in the 2nd Q

Ross will be good for boom/bust games.  Kind of guy you plug into your fantasy lineup when you have to gamble against a tough opponent.

Cowboys with 8 turnovers.

Their back-ups QBs are far worse than Dak is.

If it wasn't for Rico Gathers they would have been shut out.

@JohnOehser: Punter Logan Cooke with a huge hit on kickoff return and he's going to get a lowering-the-head penalty. #Jaguars. ...

Holy crap the Patriots just ran a naked bootleg play where I'm pretty sure it's going to result in at least 5 Giants getting cut on Monday.

EDIT: The Giants DC James Bechter is PISSED,
