No internet connection - camping (1 Viewer)

I am in 4 leagues and I will have neither internet connection nor cell access from tomorrow morning all the way until after the games kick off on Sunday. What is the best strategy for handling that this year? Do I ask a sibling/parent to monitor my teams, do i just hope for the best? It would take about an hour and a half to get back to internet access? Do i suck up the 3 hour round trip on Saturday evening just for FF?

I quit a dynasty league(m7&fod) last year because of a similar issue. I was camping without internet and everyone got mad at me when I started some guys that were out. I do not want to cause drama this year in any of my leagues.

I deal with issue fairly often, as I'm off-grid fishing, hunting, camping much of the fall.  I don't sweat it too much.  Most of the time I set it, and forget it.......now if you're going into a sitch where it's game time decisions etc, you need to have someone monitor if possible.....personally, I would never cut a trip short, or alter my plans for FF.....but that's me.   The best solution imo, is to have a detailed plan written out for your commish to follow....ie switch out Julio for Chark if it looks like Julio is a game time decision.  I am in a league where this sort of thing happens from time to time, and we're all good with it.

The bolded is good advice and the practical solution.

Get your priorities in order.

Advise your league mates to do the same.

Go camping. Enjoy yourself. Forget about pretend football for a couple days. Come on.

To disregard your lineup because you're doing something else can be controlled by the commish with a simple email.  Yes, other activities in life are more important that FF, but to just ignore FF is wrong and not fair to the league. It doesn't have to be that way by just telling the commish to insert so-and-so if so-and-so is OUT.

Are you camping off the grid entirely? Or you at a camp site that might have some sort of Wi-Fi or Internet at their office? Are there other businesses or restaurants nearby that you might be able to sneak off to for a brief stretch? There have been times when I went to the mountains pretty far off the reservation but was able to still find someplace I could use the internet for ten minutes.

We looked last year and were unable to find any access. The funny thing is AT&T has great service, but Verizon has no service in any direction. Usually in the middle of nowhere it is the opposite.

Although getting to a small town is still an hour round trip.

Maybe you can find someone with AT&T to let you borrow their phone for a few minutes? Like I said, a lot depends if you are a mile away from anyone else or 100 miles away from anyone else.

If you want to either send me instructions on last minute roster moves or leave it to me to make adjustments, let me know (obviously I would need access to your teams / leagues).

This is how I have my league members do it. Give me a plan & I’ll execute it for you. Not a big deal. So long as your commishes are willing to deal with it.

Every other year this would work great.  This year though with games possibly being cancelled and not knowing until Saturday, this becomes an issue.

@MTskibum I think the very obvious answer here is to just give your password to a friend that isn't in your league and they can make adjustments.  Heck, I'm sure someone from these boards would even help you out with that if you don't have any FF savvy friends.

I commish one league where one of our members always takes a 2 week elk hunting & camping trip in Colorado.  He's hiking and pitching a tent and has no access to electricity for the two weeks, so even cell phone is useless without charge.

He always gets with me before hand to establish a ranking for his bench.  If a starter goes down or is ruled out, I sub in a player starting at the top of his list.  If I need to pick up a player for him to field a full lineup (say for instance both his TE's go down or something), then he designates who is his first cut, and I pick up whoever is projected to score the most points according to the league website.  He plans ahead to cover his byes, but we have a discussion on what to do for injuries.

My brother will handle it. He is in two leagues with me, but I think that will be alright.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Yep, lots of options. Amy Commish worth their salt would be happy to help when it likely means no pissin'n'moanin from league mates. Or call someone with even a remedial education and have them login to set your lineup. I know my brother fits the bill on that one. 😂

Make sure anyone filling in for you has a idea of how to navigate your hosting site. I'm sure you would know that but sometimes it's overlooked.
