*Official 1st Day Draft Thread -Round 1 - Round 3* (1 Viewer)

The Lions got the Browns 2nd Round pick in 2004 and the Roy Williams pick for the Kellen Winslow pick.Score, Lions.
Big time. They will get a good RB In the 2nd round and another good player besides with back to back 2nd round picks - maybe even Vernon Carey or some other top rated guard. The Lions are actually looking up.

Why do these teams grossly overpay to move up a small amount? They next the "Trade Dominator".

Yeah great trade for the Lions. But Carey will be gone by the time the get that 2nd rd pick I'm guessing.

Bills need to get at 10 or 9, so hopefully the jags will trade with them even the texans and they can grab a dl de so the bills can get big Ben

Great trade for Detroit and excellent news for Harrington who goes from nobody to throw the ball to (once Rogers was hurt last season) to two potential studs on the outside in Rogers/Williams.If Harrington can't get the job done now, he'll never be able to.

How does Roy WIlliams affect Charles Rogers #s?
Improves them - Roy will belearning, Charles will be a year in (though injured a lot of the time). My prediction is that Charles Rogers' numbers will be helped by the receivers that are there (Az Hakim back to the third wide/slot spot is great, too). But, only if Harringotn gets some more time in the pocket. The Lions need to address their O-Line and their RB situation for the next two rounds.

Detroit absolutely FLEECED Cleveland... what the hell were they thinking to move up ONE freaking spot? NOW detroit could concievably move BACK up into the 1st with those high 2nd rounders and POSSIBLY still get Jackson or Kevin Jones...

ok buffalo your runnin outta options, you can deal with the jags or the texans... good luck.... if they wont budge then trade down for a defensive player

It's right in line with Cleveland, to be honest - they have been HORRIBLE in the first round for the last few years. Butch asking for Willie Green over Portis is inexcusable, and now this?

There's been talk for days that KW Jr was the #1 overall guy on about HALF the draft boards among NFL teams. Detroit knew this, shopped around, found at least two, and a bidding war ensued. The deal you see is the final selling price. If you want your guy when there's a demand for him, it's gonna cost you.

Good point but still a hell of a deal for the Lions!

I'm hoping and praying Jackson falls to 15.:please:
Then you'll have at least one RB on par with "He Hate Me". ;) OK...maybe a little earlier with the trash talk.

Are you serious? We already have had a blockbuster trade between the Giants and Chargers and Cleveland making a boneheaded trade with the Lions.
Yeah. That's all drama. But the NYG/SD trade has been talked about for days. As has the idea that SOMEBODY was going to move up to get Winslow. Lots of moving, lots of jiving, but nobody going out on any limbs or taking any surprising players.

There is always a lot of trade talk before a draft and much of it never takes place. I don't think anyone would have guessed how much the Giants were willing to pay for Manning. I also don't think anyone saw Cleveland moving up to take Winslow. Now the drama and eventual surprise will be if Buffalo moves up. As for "surprising" picks, give it time. The draft isn't even 10 picks old.Edit...now Reggie Williams was a surprising pick. ;)
