***Official 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread : Pens raise the cup for 4th time in franchise history*** (1 Viewer)

don't think probably is necessary. no way they do it this summer.

also, sounds like the NMC stuff has been worked out. players with no-trade clauses can be exposed, but players with no movement clauses will not be.
Cool; I'd not heard how they ended up resolving that. :thanks: for the update on that.

Pittsburgh clearly deserves the 2-0 lead.  They've been the better team.  Watch the Sharks start playing better, but then Martin Jones steps down a notch.

Ticket prices have dropped overnight about $100 for the top balcony rows for games 3, 4 and 6 in SJ.  Still more than double what the cheapest seats in Pittsburgh are going for, but funny what an 0-2 hole does to the market.

Watched every Sharks game in the playoffs. This matchup is so different. Sharks can not get a good flow going. Once they do get it in their zone they can't keep it for long. Pitt is just so fast. Jones playing his best yet in the playoffs or it wouldn't be close.

I sure hope home ice changes things.

Same thing happened to the Bolts. Sticks down everywhere.

My Yinzer RSS feed is full of people complaining about the Sharks center allegedly crying about Crosby's faceoff in overtime.     Can someone fax me the Clifton's notes on what all this noise about "timing" faceoffs means?    What is the exact rule and what are the accusations surrounding it?

Whatever it is, they need to come up with a better terminology for something they want to vilify.    I'm guessing you won't hear this exchange with regard to any other sport:

"He timed that so well he won!"

"Yeah, what a POS cheater!"

Yeah I asked that same thing earlier in the thread.  Seems like he's just a whiny little #####.

defending zone center has to put his stick down first then attacking zone center puts his stick down.  what Couture is saying is Crosby isn't putting his stick in and just swiping after the defending stick goes in and puck drops.  technically you should be booted from the circle and it happens all the time.  that said, every center cheats in a myriad of ways and every center is trying to "time" it.

legitimate complaint, he should be booted.  but this is just gamesmanship.  happens every series, players and coaches lobby to make sure refs are noticing things.

in summary, chill out Pittsburg.  no one is planning an asterisk.

No doubt. The stick jousting at the dot never seems to end. I don't see this as a big deal, and of course this is gamesmanship by a team down 2-0 who just got beat on a clean face-off in their zone.

Thanks for clarifying.  I legitimately had no clue about that rule.  Thought he was just whining

Murray playing a great game tonight but that 2nd goal he gave up was weak.  Sharks came to play tonight!  Dominating performance.

Oh well, pens WILL win series 4-1 maybe 4-2. Not good goals given up by Murray at all
Last 2 goals were a little weak but he also made some great saves.  This was a game I expected the Sharks to win.  The fact that the Pens kept it close gives me confidence.  Sharks in another must-win Monday night IMO.

Great game by both teams.  Pittsburgh still looks like the better team, but the Sharks did better sustaining pressure.

Yep they looked more like themselves this game at least. I still don't think the Sharks have played their best game yet.

So, I watched honkey quite a bit from rookie Jagr up through Cancer-returning Lemieux.  I have only watched sporadically since 98/99.

Is it my imagination or are there a lot less offsides calls now then there were then?   If yes, are teams just playing more disciplined?  Or did they relax the rule?

I don't think there are less but not sure.

Now days they wait for a team to score then look at the blue line for 20 minutes before calling it

I know the games have been close in this series but I feel like the Pens have really controlled the play for the most part.  I thought both Tampa and Washington presented bigger challenges than the Sharks have.  I don't see how San Jose comes back from this.

Agreed. Even when the Sharks won game 3, it felt like they were delaying the inevitable. The Penguins have looked like the better team for the vast majority of the series.
