lol. I'm back to 4 wrs. I just dont think a  bunch of $12 guys are going to cut it.
I’m not even covering BYEs.

1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 D & 16 kickers.

I like my chances.

Wait, is this a weekly or seasonal entry? I mean, do I get to pick a new roster every week?

anyone have stats of 2 vs 3 qbs?

Looked back at my entry last year and I only used my 3rd qb 3 times. Granted, the last 2 weeks pf the contest were him, and he helped me win something, but I'm not sure its a great investment this year (last year was a $3 investment for a guy for sure starting, this year its $4 for a guy who might)

I'm wondering if this is the year of 2 qbs

Obviously trying to find $4 somewhere on my roster...  trying to talk myself into my two QBs since I'm spending a lot. I had $7 on Flacco as my 3rd that I had to dump and now cant afford $4 for Jones

Just like the rest of y'all, i have done countless versions up to this point. I think i may finally be happy. Or im just tired of tinkering and hoping my hypothetical championship roster is "the one". Thats the best part about this thing, we all have our reasons why we choose the players we do. So many different strategies and approaches. Its almost overwhelming to process all the very valid points you read in here on all sorts of players. There are pros and cons to every single player, but the right advice can be pure gold. Anyways, here goes..

QB - Carson Wentz - PHI/10 - $19
QB - Lamar Jackson - BAL/8 - $12
QB - Daniel Jones - NYG/11 - $4

I like the combo of wentz and jackson. Arm and Legs. On the fence with jones. I like the cheap 3rd QB, has looked very good, should be playing from behind mostly and that i believe will be starting by week 5, but I could use the 4 elsewhere.

RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24
RB - Chris Carson - SEA/11 - $18
RB - Miles Sanders - PHI/10 - $15
RB - Duke Johnson - HOU/10 - $9
RB - Matt Breida - SF/4 - $9

I see cook with top 5 potential if he stays healthy and i am on the Carson train! I love sanders, worst case he is the 1B in a top 3 offense, best case (and what i see by week 8 at the latest) is sanders talent shines through and he takes on the 1A or lead role. I'm a fan of dukes situation. I think hyde gets maybe 150 carries and Duke gets 200ish combined rushes/catches. Unless they pull in Melvin Gordon, Duke has a clean shot at a golden situation. Breida is just the better back in SF. Should be the 1A or lead in a KShanny offense.

WR - Amari Cooper - DAL/8 - $24
WR - Chris Godwin - TB/7 - $22
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19
WR - Dede Westbrook - JAX/10 - $13
WR - TreQuan Smith - NO/9 - $8
WR - Josh Gordon - NE/10 - $6

Happy with this combination. No "big" names, but it feels very solid. I hope gordon plays the full year. He will have a solid floor (70 yds give or take) and a high ceiling as long as he's on the field. Westbrook is horribly underrated and will be a target monster. I like lockett's target share to go up significantly, same for godwin, and both to capitalize on it. Coopers foot is fine and i think he would have gone higher had there not been a scare to a top wrs foot, should easily be in the top 10 conversation. Trequan Smith is where im on the fence here. I like him taking the #2 WR spot over in NO and to have some big games, but i fear the consistency and I could use that 8 bucks elsewhere.

TE - Hunter Henry - LAC/12 - $17
TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/8 - $9
TE - Darren Waller - OAK/6 - $8

I like Henry to be a target monster, especially in the redzone. I'm high on andrews as jacksons favorite target this year and Im also feeling the hype on waller, but could use that 8 elsewhere.

PK - Randy Bullock - CIN/9 - $3
PK - Matt Gay - TB/7 - $3

Both teams should be able to move the ball, but im just not sold on it. Would like to add another or improve

TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/8 - $5
TD - New York Jets - NYJ/4 - $3

I like the dallas defense. Strong everywhere and gets the NYG/WAS twice. Jets are my favorite 3$ team. Young and improved and gets the bills/MIA twice. Debating adding a third or improving up on the jets.

would love any thoughts on where im lookin to improve/adjust. Thanks. Good luck everyone!!

Gimme a few minutes, just got home

QBs - three at a total of $27 no bye week matches

RBs - five at a total of $67 no bye week matches

WRs - eight at a total of $86, two WRs for week 10 but no other bye week matches

TEs - three at a total of $44 no bye week matches

PKs - three at a total of $9 no bye week matches

DSTs - three at a total of $17 no bye week matches and none of the PKs match with the DSTs

Big roster 25 players, average cost of $10 each

Highest cost player is $23 and only six total cost over $16

Good luck everybody!

2018

- 2 QB - 60/4814 = 1.25%

- 3 QB - 134/6989 = 1.92%

Considering there were 57 Darnold owners at the end, I didn't do the research, but I have to assume most were in the 3 QB group.  This year, I think you have to assume Flacco at $7 is the lowest $$ QB that may keep his job all season.  I also would love a cheap 3rd, but if you take 2 decent guys, will you use the 3rd enough?  Last year if you went Ben, Rivers, Eli ($7), you would've used Eli once.

This is where I'm at. I have 2 QBs who I think have potential to finish top 5. So why do I need a 3rd...

Still mulling this over. Good news is tomorrow is anbusy work day

dropped jones at qb and upgraded to Gostkowski and Prater at K and feel much better about it. If wentz and Jackson do what i think they are going to do, jones should never have to play. Same thought for the TE position, but with the 1.5 ppr, wanted to keep that extra insurance. Still debating finding more depth at RB and/or WR, but having a hard time being happy when i build it that way.

Of last year's top 20...

- 3 teams had 6 players over $20

- 5 teams had 5 players over $20

- 5 teams had 4 players over $20

- 6 teams had 3 players over $20

- 1 team had 2 players over $20

Conclusion - deep and cheap may get to you the final 250, but you have to pony up for some studs to win it all.  The winner had 6 players over $20

I chose to dump Jones and use the $4 elsewhere.  If you trust your gut on your 2 decent starters, as you said, Jones is useless.  I can however, see going 3 deep if you choose guys like Carr, Dalton, and Darnold.  But if you choose 2 like Goff and Rivers/Cousins/insert other QB here, would you really expect/want to use Jones?

well, its Jones or a 5th wr. I think that 5th wr comes more in handy.

just wish it was more than Chark

This roster looks better than the one that I was putting together. I might have to rethink some things.

I might even be done:

QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/12 - $12
QB - Matthew Stafford - DET/5 - $10
RB - Nick Chubb - CLE/7 - $25
RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24

PK - Zane Gonzalez - ARI/12 - $3
PK - Austin Seibert - CLE/7 - $3
TD - Jacksonville Jaguars - JAX/10 - $7
TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT/7 - $6

Current iteration, more prioritizing bye weeks than every player I like

QB - Jared Goff - LAR/9 - $14
QB - Dak Prescott - DAL/8 - $12

Haven't changed these two in a while

RB - Nick Chubb - CLE/7 - $25
RB - Chris Carson - SEA/11 - $18
RB - Miles Sanders - PHI/10 - $15
RB - Devin Singletary - BUF/6 - $8
RB - Darwin Thompson - KC/12 - $5

Byes line up

WR - Keenan Allen - LAC/12 - $25
WR - Cooper Kupp - LAR/9 - $20
WR - Robby Anderson - NYJ/4 - $17
WR - Michael Gallup - DAL/8 - $10
WR - Josh Gordon - NE/10 - $6

Byes again

TE - Travis Kelce - KC/12 - $29
TE - O.J. Howard - TB/7 - $18
TE - Chris Herndon - NYJ/4 - $8

PK - Mason Crosby - GB/11 - $5
PK - Randy Bullock - CIN/9 - $3
PK - Matt Gay - TB/7 - $3

TD - Houston Texans - HOU/10 - $6
TD - New York Jets - NYJ/4 - $

🤷🏼‍♂️ Not real sure about Allen and Kelce having the same late bye.
Changed it up just a tad. I might be done :oldunsure:

QB - Carson Wentz - PHI/10 - $19
QB - Sam Darnold - NYJ/4 - $9

Went away from a true QBBC to a top option and a player I see on the rise. A few more dollars but worth it imo.

RB - Nick Chubb - CLE/7 - $25
RB - Chris Carson - SEA/11 - $18
RB - LeSean McCoy - KC/12 - $16
RB - Matt Breida - SF/4 - $9
RB - Devin Singletary - BUF/6 - $8

Shady's release provides opportunity.

WR - Odell Beckham - CLE/7 - $31
WR - Cooper Kupp - LAR/9 - $20
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19
WR - Michael Gallup - DAL/8 - $10
WR - Marquise Goodwin - SF/4 - $8
WR - Josh Gordon - NE/10 - $6

Bye weeks line up, most have good QBs throwing the rock.  I'm putting some faith in the browns with the stack, but I think it pays off.

TE - Hunter Henry - LAC/12 - $17
TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/8 - $9
TE - Chris Herndon - NYJ/4 - $8

Hated moving away from Kelce. But I wanted 6WR, Wentz and McCoy.

PK - Wil Lutz - NO/9 - $6
PK - Matt Prater - DET/5 - $4

Maybe too much $ on two kickers.

TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/8 - $5
TD - New York Jets - NYJ/4 - $3

I think these two will be popular. I like them a lot.

Only swap I'm currently contemplating is Wentz, McCoy, Henry for Goff, Duke, Kelce.

QB - Patrick Mahomes - KC/12 - $27

TE - George Kittle - SF/4 - $25
TE - Zach Ertz - PHI/10 - $24
PK - Greg Zuerlein - LAR/9 - $7
PK - Robbie Gould - SF/4 - $7
PK - Justin Tucker - BAL/8 - $7
TD - Chicago Bears - CHI/6 - $10
TD - Los Angeles Rams - LAR/9 - $8
TD - Minnesota Vikings - MIN/12 - $7
What; no Tom Brady?  pfft.

Just remember, when Big Dave retired, only 3 other players in MLB history had struck out more than him.  I couldn't resist that stat!

I like your team, and well done on the make up and byes.  Good luck
That’s why I used him as the analogy.  They could just as easily blow up in my face. :)

I'm being very mindful that none of my studs (as opposed to just focusing on position-by-position) overlap on bye, ie I am high on JuJu so won't be selecting CMC.

I'd check your byes. Rodgers, Barkley and Adams are all off week 11. That's a lot of money to have sitting during a late week. And if you survive that week you have Mahonnes, DJ, Hill and Kelce off in week 12.

Zeke just became an option again
So what do you think Winz?

Considering swapping Chicago D for Olsen.
I will start by asking a question - which 7 players do you expect to be your consistent weekly scorers at RB/WR/TE & 2 flex spots?

OK... I believe I have my final lineup...  I changed my QB completely and was tight on Bye issues.  Moved on from Cousins & Brees.

QB - Carson Wentz - PHI/10 - $19

QB - Jameis Winston - TB/7 - $13

QB - Josh Rosen - MIA/5 - $4

-->    Phil & TB are going to pass a high volume and produce 2 MVP caliber players (and TB Def will result in good garbage time stats for Winston)  I see Rosen taking over in Mia after the Week 5 bye and insurance for injury later in season.

RB - Nick Chubb - CLE/7 - $25

RB - Mark Ingram - BAL/8 - $20

RB - Chris Carson - SEA/11 - $18

RB - Latavius Murray - NO/9 - $16

RB - Miles Sanders - PHI/10 - $15

-->  38% of budget on RB; I feel good about # touches expected and their value.  I am all in on Chubb, Ingram & Murray for their $; Carson & Sanders have value at price, but there are many variables in their playing time.

WR - Calvin Ridley - ATL/9 - $20

WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19

WR - Alshon Jeffery - PHI/10 - $18

WR - Robby Anderson - NYJ/4 - $17

-->  30% on WR with no real stud is a gamble..  4 High Ceiling players with moderate floors!  I like these players for targets & the role they will play in their offense...  tried to fit Godwin but Bye week issue was too much with Chubb (having Top 2 WR on same Bye was too much IMO)

TE - T.J. Hockenson - DET/5 - $10

TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/8 - $9

TE - Darren Waller - OAK/6 - $8

--> not overwhelmed with my TE, but could not fit Cook or Hooper with Bye $ lost on Week 9 due to L Murray & Ridley both out as well; I like Hock in Det RZ target!

PK - Dan Bailey - MIN/12 - $4

PK - Austin Seibert - CLE/7 - $3

-->     I like them for offenses they are on for price

TD - Seattle Seahawks - SEA/11 - $5

TD - Detroit Lions - DET/5 - $4

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/4 - $3

-->  Seattle getting Clowney and Bosa in SF make them attractive at these $; hoping Patricia does something with Det Def

Worst Bye week $ issue is Week 10 with 21% on bye due to 3 Philly players.  Have 2 other weeks with 16% on bye but no other real bye issues.

I guess it all depends on how well it stands up to fate!

No way I'd go with 4 Wrs, no matter how good I think they are.  You're one sprained ankle during a bye week away from only having 2 guys active there. With average TEs, and probably only 4 RBs active (because of their byes), you'd have zero margin of error.

anyone have stats of 2 vs 3 qbs?

This was the hardest decision for me personally and ultimately I decided to go with 2 QB's and grab another RB and WR.   Time will tell..

Final, final team

Finally pulled the plug on Gesicki and added a 6th WR

QB - Lamar Jackson - BAL/8 - $12
QB - Tom Brady - NE/10 - $11
QB - Daniel Jones - NYG/11 - $4

QB- Like the upside of Jackson with the steadiness of Brady. Hoping Jones starts as the season goes on, but wish there were points for "dump offs to Barkley"

RB - Saquon Barkley - NYG/11 - $36
RB - Christian McCaffrey - CAR/7 - $35
RB - Miles Sanders - PHI/10 - $15
RB - Devin Singletary - BUF/6 - $8

RB - Two studs that I love watching, plus two young guys. Should be fun. Counting on the studs to start and hope for some flex weeks from the young guys

WR - Stefon Diggs - MIN/12 - $23
WR - Chris Godwin - TB/7 - $22
WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - GB/11 - $11
WR - Cole Beasley - BUF/6 - $6
WR - Josh Gordon - NE/10 - $6
WR - Terry McLaurin - WAS/10 - $4

WR - Two starters in Diggs and Godwin. Hope for some flex weeks from MVS and Gordon. Beasley for high floor and McLaurin for high (for WAS) ceiling.

TE - Hunter Henry - LAC/12 - $17
TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/8 - $9
TE - Darren Waller - OAK/6 - $8
TE - C.J. Uzomah - CIN/9 - $4

TE - Henry as the starter, hoping for flex weeks from Andrews and Waller. Uzomah seems to be high ceiling to me.

PK - Randy Bullock - CIN/9 - $3
PK - Steve Hauschka - BUF/6 - $3
PK - Zane Gonzalez - ARI/12 - $3

PK - Sort of crappy guys although I like having a Bill.

TD - Carolina Panthers - CAR/7 - $4
TD - Cincinnati Bengals - CIN/9 - $3
TD - New York Jets - NYJ/4 - $3

TD - OK defenses. At least I'll be watching some Panther games.

If I had $5 more? I'd improve PK and TD some.

Good luck.

anyone have stats of 2 vs 3 qbs?
In terms of survival rates, I think the numbers used to favor 2 QBs, or at least it was pretty close.   But 3 of the last 4 years, 3 QB teams have performed better than average while 2 QB teams have done worse.  And in fact in those three years, 4 QB teams did even better than 3 QB teams, which was never the case previously.  So I guess the question is no longer 2 or 3 QBs, it's now 3 or 4?

But, as someone noted above, the last couple years there have been $3 QBs who were Week 1 starters. That made it easy (and reasonable) to add 1 or 2 of them.  We don't have that this year--you can spend $7 on Flacco, or take a chance on the Eli/Jones or Fitzpatrick/Rosen derbies. Higher prices and starter indecision are forcing tougher decisions this year.

So what do you think Winz?

QB - Jared Goff - LAR/9 - $14
QB - Mitchell Trubisky - CHI/6 - $12
RB - Ezekiel Elliott - DAL/8 - $33
RB - Austin Ekeler - LAC/12 - $16
RB - Darrell Henderson - LAR/9 - $15
RB - Duke Johnson - HOU/10 - $9
RB - Devin Singletary - BUF/6 - $8
RB - Malcolm Brown - LAR/9 - $4
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19
WR - Sammy Watkins - KC/12 - $15
WR - Dede Westbrook - JAX/10 - $13
WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - GB/11 - $11
WR - Geronimo Allison - GB/11 - $10
WR - Josh Gordon - NE/10 - $6
TE - Travis Kelce - KC/12 - $29
TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/8 - $9
PK - Matt Gay - TB/7 - $3
PK - Zane Gonzalez - ARI/12 - $3
PK - Austin Seibert - CLE/7 - $3
TD - Chicago Bears - CHI/6 - $10
TD - Seattle Seahawks - SEA/11 - $5
TD - New York Jets - NYJ/4 - $3

Considering swapping Chicago D for Olsen.
I will start by asking a question - which 7 players do you expect to be your consistent weekly scorers at RB/WR/TE & 2 flex spots?
RB: Zeke / Ekeler (early) then Henderson or Singletary later

WR: Lockett, MVS or Alison (I expect one each week to put up WR2 numbers)

TE: Kelce

Flex - Westbrook most weeks, the better of Gordon/Watkins, Duke Johnson as a fall back

That was kind of how I thought you would answer.  Just a personal preference, but I prefer a more definitive 7.

- No way in hades will I spend $18 on D's.  The contest is too hard this year with no $2 or $3 options at QB/RB/WR/TE, and you need those $$ elsewhere.

- I don't like how you hedged with the Henderson/Brown combo, and especially not with the MVS/Allison combo.  My reason is just as you said - you expect one or the other to score well each week.  Can you really afford to EXPECT one of your players to not count for you every week?  One glaring exception to the hedge rule would be Gore/Singletary, because for only $12, you are basically locking down the BUF running game.  Plus, I think we will see a quick drastic change from Gore to Singletary; I just don't know which week it will happen.  The Henderson/Brown combo for $19 should pay off big, but only if Gurley goes out of commission early on.

Those are just a few thoughts.  Individually, I like just about every one of your players.

No way I'd go with 4 Wrs, no matter how good I think they are.  You're one sprained ankle during a bye week away from only having 2 guys active there. With average TEs, and probably only 4 RBs active (because of their byes), you'd have zero margin of error.
Valid point, but where do you choose to sacrifice?  QB3 or PK3/Def3 combined?  It is a tough decision on where to draw the line!

Where would I sacrifice? Lose QB3 if you're spending that much on 1 & 2 , don't spend $31 on RBs 4 & 5, don't spend $35 on WRs 3 & 4. Use that $70 to get two cheaper RBs and at least 4 cheaper WRs.

I see the point and I am trying to balance bye week and expenses for each bye so no major weak lineup each week.

I was just tweeking to drop QB3 Rosen & RB4 Carson in order to pick up RB A Matison $6 and WR Mike Williams LAC $16

My most recent:

QB - Jameis Winston - TB/7 - $13
QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/12 - $12
RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24
RB - David Montgomery - CHI/6 - $18
RB - Chris Carson - SEA/11 - $18
RB - Matt Breida - SF/4 - $9
RB - Devin Singletary - BUF/6 - $8
RB - Alexander Mattison - MIN/12 - $6
WR - Mike Evans - TB/7 - $27
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19
WR - Allen Robinson - CHI/6 - $17
WR - Dede Westbrook - JAX/10 - $13
WR - Jamison Crowder - NYJ/4 - $11
WR - Josh Gordon - NE/10 - $6
TE - Jared Cook - NO/9 - $17
TE - Vance McDonald - PIT/7 - $16
PK - Matt Prater - DET/5 - $4
PK - Austin Seibert - CLE/7 - $3
TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/8 - $5
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/5 - $4

Total value: 250

I'm really stuck between spending on 2 of the big 5 RBs vs going a bit more second-tier and using the money to beef up WR. The pricing is so challenging!

I hear ya.  I keep starting from scratch.  I kinda know how I want my team composition, but I keep finding myself picking players I really don't like just for their byes.  I wanna like my choices.

Yeah, it sounds kinda dumb when I say it, but it all boils down on who you pick. Holistic approaches and strategies can be implemented to good effect, but the most important part of roster composition are the players selected.

Well that was fun. Tweaked it a bit, tweaked it some more, spent another 30 minutes on the roster.

Turned out the exact same as it was earlier today.

I think I'm done now.

I may need to revisit the defense.  I used to never spend at D, but there aren't decent $2 and $3 options like years past.  The Bears had 9 double digit scores last year, the Skins had 3.  May resist a 3rd QB.

With only having to start 7 I can definitely afford for one not to count each week.  I expect Rodgers to lay down the law this year and attempt to claim his spot as best int he game and prove that the packers roll with him and not the coaches.  That's a lot of TDs to spread around.  Cheap options that see the field on high scoring offenses are always a good bet.

Final Roster

QB - Sam Darnold - NYJ/4 - $9

QB - Derek Carr - OAK/6 - $9

QB - Nick Foles - JAX/10 - $8

I’ve gone back and forth on QB more than any other position.  In the end I went with 3 cheap options who I think all have upside and should be playing from behind a lot.  May not have the ceiling of some other combinations but I expect a solid score here each week.  I also think Darnold has the potential to break into a higher tier this year.

RB - Nick Chubb - CLE/7 - $25

RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24

RB - Miles Sanders - PHI/10 - $15

RB - Justice Hill - BAL/8 - $9

RB - Matt Breida - SF/4 - $9

Chubb was a guy I never once considered removing.  I expect he’ll be a top 5 RB, and Hunt doesn’t worry me at all.  Cook will be popular as well.  I really wanted to avoid week 12 byes but he is just too good for his price.  I think Sanders will be the top back in Philly by mid season if not sooner.  Hill will be inconsistent but I expect some big weeks from him.  Breida is the best back on SF and if he stays healthy I think he’s a high end RB2.  All of my guys have different byes so I was comfortable with only 5.

WR - Julio Jones - ATL/9 - $32

WR - Chris Godwin - TB/7 - $22

WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19

WR - Dede Westbrook - JAX/10 - $13

WR - Michael Gallup - DAL/8 - $10

I went with Julio mainly do to bye week issues, but he’s a stud who will put up a startable score basically every week.  I wasn’t wild about the WR options in the $15-25 range so I ended up with Godwin, who I think is a pretty safe pick.  Locket is basically the entire SEA passing offense at this point.  Westbrook will get fed a ton of targets as the only proven option in the JAX offense.  I liked Gallup’s talent a lot, and Amari’s foot troubles make me  like him even more.  I’d ideally like a couple more but all guys have different bye weeks.

TE - T.J. Hockenson - DET/5 - $10

TE - Chris Herndon - NYJ/4 - $8

TE - Darren Waller - OAK/6 - $8

I love what I’ve seen from Hockenson, and I think he will have some big games.  Herndon I would have around my TE8 or so if he was playing the whole year.  It’s a bit risky to take a guy who will be out until week 6 but his price is so good.  I debated between Waller and Andrews and went with Waller simply because of overall passing volume.

PK - Matt Prater - DET/5 - $4

PK - Matt Gay - TB/7 - $3

PK - Daniel Carlson - OAK/6 - $3

3 cheap options with different and early byes

TD - Detroit Lions - DET/5 - $4

TD - New York Jets - NYJ/4 - $3

TD - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TB/7 - $3

This is eerily similar to my team but I went with two QBs, two TEs and was able to afford Kittle.
