I open up the comments on Twitter all the time, and I'm not sure that I've ever seen porn in my feed. I hate to use the word "never," but I'm pretty tempted to say that it's literally never happened. With all due respect, if you're getting porn in your feed, it's probably because of the same algorithm that thinks I want to see Ben Shapiro. I don't follow Ben Shapiro, but the algorithm knows that I like politics and he's a big political account, so . . .
Lol no. It’s been pretty well documented on there how many bots have hit the site in the last year since they unblocked so many accounts that were suspended previously.

They’re not real people, they’re obviously bots. It’s not like some famous professional star is being placed in my feed. Same with crypto.
I believe you when you say that those bots are in your feed. I'm just saying that lots of us aren't getting those. I get fight videos, but no porn.

The worst part about post-Elon Twitter is that now every time something changes, Twitter itself becomes unreadable for a day or two thanks to all the meta-commentary.

Yes, this rebranding is kind of dumb. Yes, I dislike the new logo too. No, I don't understand what motivates a person to buy an established company and then turn around change its trademark. But what do I care about any of this. I just want some news and snarky commentary on said news.

Statement from the new CEO:

It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression.
Just in terms of dumb things to say, inventing a phrase that reminds the reader of a phrase they actually know which enforces how difficult it is to change minds is an amazing self-own.

Still not sure I really understand what they are trying to do. I get there are some apps in Asian they are modeling this off of but I can’t wrap my head around it.

Same. I understand Elon Musk is supposedly stupid and Twitter is ruined now. But for me, I continue to have the same and excellent experience with Twitter I have for many years. I must be doing something different than everyone else but it's the same useful tool it has been for years in my experience.

San Francisco:
Twitter Inc on Tuesday was hit with the second lawsuit this month to claim that it owes at least $500 million in severance pay to ex-workers, the latest in a series of cases arising from Elon Musk's acquisition of the social media company.

The proposed class action filed in Delaware federal court by former Twitter senior engineer Chris Woodfield also alleges that the company targeted older workers for layoffs, a claim that has not been made in the other pending cases.

Woodfield, who worked for Twitter out of Seattle, says the company repeatedly told employees that they would receive two months' salary and other payouts if they were laid off, but that he and other workers have not received the money.

Maybe even better with the drop in advertisers.

I also see porn every day in my feed. Yesterday "Herbert" was in my "What's Happening" trending list on the right of my screen. I clicked there and the first three tweets in the "top section" were each about Justin Herbert. The 4th tweet down was a video of hardcore penetration. This happens every single day. To the people who say they don't see any porn on their feed are you not clicking on anything trending? There are also NSFW responses to the tweets of people that I follow. One fantasy football expert tweeted something this weekend that got three responses, the third response being a picture with a NSFW tag of a naked women asking "do you like what you see?" I block the accounts but they just come back with a new account. I used to see porn on twitter once in a blue moon but since Musk acquired the site it's multiple times a day. Maybe it's because I don't pay the $8 a month or whatever it is? I don't know. People in my family have also complained about this so I'm not the only one.

I must be doing Twitter wrong/right.

Nearly All my "for you" suggestions are sports, gaming (a mixed bag for sure) and cute animal stuff.

Other than one Only fans ad that pops up a lot, no porn. And no violent stuff either

not sure how I lucked out. I don't pay for blue.

The one thing for me that hasn't changed is I see the same number of ads now that I used to. No ads is always best but what I currently see is ok.

On the other side, we recently bought advertising on Twitter and it performed pretty well but not as well as our advertising on Facebook.

Crazy goal, said he expects X to become half of the global financial system
Don't even bother with that nonsense.

This financial everything app was what he wanted to do twenty three years ago. He's resurrecting the idea now, but back then PayPal was a baby, Venmo and Apple Pay didn't exist. The Fed wasn't about to roll out instant payments between banks.

It's like if you had the idea in 2009 to buy and flip bank owned property, but decided to start today.

I'm not sure why financial transactions and short form blogging go together. I understand that WeChat does something similar but I assume it's a weird effect of the closed Chinese market. I guess that they just want to re-use the Twitter network to make it easier to pay contacts but Facebook has been trying to do this for years and has got no traction. And there are already well established competitors in the financial transactions business with established networks. I certainly wouldn't bet against Musk but it seems like pretty crazy goal.

That being said, I sure hope he makes Dogecoin the default currency. Maybe my 500 dogecoins will be worth something if he did that.

Yuuuuuuup. It’s in most popular comments sections.

It literally didn’t work the weekend of July 1st which was a big deal for hockey fans. Surely not for you, but imagine it dies during whatever your biggest week of the season is for your business. Multiple accounts whose business centers around the NHL got screwed (it was the opening of fee agency).

Thanks. My actual engagement and real life comments and feedback on Twitter is stronger than ever.
Who you won't notice missing is the people who will never sign up for twitter, like me.

Sure. The fact some people won't be on the platform has always been part of every platform.

I was on the platform anonymously(as a lurker), now I'm not(lurkers not allowed).

I don't believe the engagement numbers.

Under the tweets, you can see the supposed numbers of views. A podcast on YouTube gets 2,000 views in 5 days, but a tweet from the same person gets 15,000 views in one hour, but only a few likes and 1 or 2 comments.

Ummmm.........come on now.

Don't use twitter a lot but will read when certain folks post things on there

Have no idea what this new "X" is all about but I didn't see the harm in the little bird, I knew what it was or stood for.
Not sure what X stands for except in Indiana Jones movies

I would not be surprised if user engagement was indeed at an all time high after they have blocked non-users from viewing tweets (Xes)

Thanks. I understood what you meant. That was a big change for them.

Clearly the content you were seeing there wasn't much value to you.
Not enough for me to give my personal information to enrich a billionaire. I'm not on FB either. There was plenty of information on twitter I found useful and I had no problem with the site getting ad revenue off of my lurking,

I see a bunch of people pointing out that if you have multiple browser tabs open to twitter in the background, it looks like you are surfing porn. Might cause some awkward moments at work. This may or may not be what Elon intended. I could definitely see him doing that on purpose.

Funny I guess but why can’t they change the sign? Unless it’s interfering with traffic or the sign is owned by someone else, shouldn’t the police mind their own business on this one?
Maybe they need a street permit to put a lift there. Just guessing.
Yeah looks like permit issue for blocking traffic with the equipment

Google > Alphabet
Facebook > Meta
Twitter > X

The first 2 sound like they were created by focus groups full of nerds, the last sounds like it was created by the real world Iron Man.

If it triggers the Elon Haters Club then even better
These are not really the same thing. Google and Facebook rebranded their parent companies as Alphabet and Meta. The Twitter parent company was already rebranded as X Corp. It appears that they are now rebranding the product as X. The majority of Google users probably don't even realize the parent company is named Alphabet.

I still have the bird icon on my tabs

It looks like Microsoft has a trademark for X as it pertains to online chat rooms and gaming (I’m assuming related to Xbox), and Meta has a trademark for X as it pertains to social networking. Can Twitter trademark it if it’s stylized differently? I know the tweets below are just dunking on this, but I’m genuinely curious how this plays out (I’m not a lawyer).

Microsoft

Meta

The new X logo is basically just a Unicode text, so it can’t be trademarked.

Honest to god, we're living through "The Emperor Has No Clothes" IRL right now. Except I have my doubts that there's a kid at the end of the story anyone actually listens to.

Like how much of the value of the company has to be destroyed before we agree... yeah, that was a terrible mistake? Somehow 60%+ (that's $25+ billion with a B) isn't quite enough.

“Inside Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco on Monday, X logos were projected in the cafeteria, while conference rooms were renamed to words with X in them, including “eXposure,” “eXult” and “s3Xy,” according to photos seen by The New York Times. “

:lmao: love to go to work and have meetings in the s3Xy conference room

Doesn’t matter to the business, really. Going to x.com redirects to Twitter.

Some people are having fun dunking on him, but really it distracts from the truth. Because then it becomes about why people are dunking on HIM. Rather than WHY people are dunking on him.

I shared an incomplete list of unpaid bills and employees above. People are talking about that, a bit. He's basically decided to ignore his financial obligations, and gonna make everyone sue him.
Severance packages, travel reimbursements, etc. A bunch of regular people making regular money.

I don't really see how that's defensible, beyond "whatever you can get away with".
