We don't think this one is murky.

Ha, but honestly I don’t think Joe believes anyone really believes it. I see it as more of an old school approach and it’s not a bad look for Urban - it’s kind of what he should say.
This actually worries me because I think the players are going to lose their trust in the coach if he keeps doing stuff like this.Faust said:

Seems like an ego trip by the coach to me. Proving that he is more important than Lawrence is.
He does call the shots here but the truth is he is not more important to this teams success than Lawrencr is.
As already said he isnt fooling anyone with this, so my question is how does the coach saying this help his team?
Bill is a different animal. He can say and do whatever he wants because he has earned the respect of players because he has won so much.BB said the same thing every year. Not a bad looking offense at all.Looked poised. Seems to have some chemistry with M.Jones.
3 good WRs + his favorite RB catching for him. I also like that he had 18 rushing TDs in 40 college games.Looked poised. Seems to have some chemistry with M.Jones.
Not a great start, sack/fumble but he made a great sideline throw outside the hash for a first down.
'Might' need a lil-work feeling pressure.
It's early. The oline is playing poorly, receivers not getting open, maybe the Meyer's scheme isn't good. Bad TEs. It's preseason. Here's one nice throw (plus the run for a 1st down):I’ve yet to see a wow me throw from Lawrence. You have to show me something. The other rookie qbs have been playing with twos and threes too, they have all shown me something. You have the media propping him up and making excuses for him about the o-line. When all the things around you break down, whether it’s talent or ineptness, your performance in that time is who you really are. If you need studs everywhere to succeed, you ain’t it.
I know I’m still alone on that island and it’s still early but I was always weary of his mental makeup. He looks shook. Most high draft picks play for bad teams unless they traded up. Zach Wilson plays with the worst roster in the NFL and he showed me something.
I still don’t see the generational talent. Could it just be everybody missed on him?

This is what I’m saying. Everyone is so quick to give him excuses. Everybody is dealing with the same things in preseason so the lack of talent doesn’t hold weight. CHARGERS 33, COLTS 3
Round 1 went to Ryan Leaf and the San Diego Chargers. The rematch with the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning will be in October, when it counts.
The meeting last night between Leaf, the second pick in the National Football League draft, and Manning, the No. 1 pick, was only the second time in N.F.L. history quarterbacks picked 1-2 in the draft had faced each other as rookies.
Leaf was 15 for 24 for 172 yards, set up one touchdown and ran for a score as the Chargers broke a 3-3 tie at half and beat the Colts 33-3. It was only an exhibition game, but after a shaky first half, Leaf looked sharp in leading the Chargers.
Manning, playing into the third quarter for the first time in the preseason, was 11 for 21 for 123 yards but twice had passes intercepted.
The bolded is the same concern that I have for Lawrence. Not that Meyer/Bevell/Schottenheimer will mess Lawrence up, but rather that they won't be putting Lawrence in the best position to maximize his talent. Coaching for a rookie QB is huge and is why many are very high on Lance despite his early struggles.this kid can ball-out..avoid at your own risk. he's going to do very well as a pro. I think the SP is too ga-ga over Fields, and too cool on Lawrence.
but never underestimate Nagy's ability to eff things up. Fields has been hit and sacked a number of times in preseason, holds the ball too long, as has seen nothing but defensive backups.
Mirroring this. How much is on Lawrence and how much is on coaching?14/33 118 with 1 TD 2 INT
Did anyone see it? Is he simply not NFL ready? What is the NFL record for fewest completions with >30 attempts?
Dang.
The only hope is that by the time Meyer leaves - hopefully one and done - he doesn't destroy Lawrence's confidence.Meyer seems like an absolute car wreck. Lawrence will be fine, Jags just need to get Meyer out of there and install an experienced, reasonable HC. Even somebody like Jim Caldwell would be an improvement
Trevor Lawrence leads the NFL with a 36 percent uncatchable pass rate through Week 2.
No starting quarterback has been more inaccurate than Lawrence through his first two NFL games, which has seen the No. 1 overall pick average 5.4 yards per attempt -- the second lowest behind only Andy Dalton. Jacksonville's offense has struggled mightily in its first two games of the Lawrence era outside an impressive opening Week 2 drive against the Broncos. Lawrence and the Jags will once again be forced into pass-heavy game script this week against Arizona. Lawrence should only be deployed in superflex formats for now.

Hope I'm wrong, but I think Meyer will be at least given the full year to fail.I'm with the rest of y'all. Thinking this is more pointing toward Meyer than the kid.
Their only chances for wins in first 8 games are CIN and MIA. 0-8 isn't out of reason. They'd have to let Meyer go at that point you'd think.
The King of Fantasy Garbagetime himself Blake Bortles wasn't very accurate, but he could get the occasional deep ball to Allen Robinson and Marquise Lee. Just from a fantasy standpoint, Trevor needs to get chemistry with D.J. Chark and hit those deep balls.
EDIT: Urban Meyer isn't the reason his accuracy has been turrible.
I was going to say a real poor man's Mark Sanchez, but this comp works too.Not just bad.
DeShone Kizer bad.
THAT is REALLY bad.

Trevor Lawrence is the first QB to throw 7+ INT in his first 3 career games since Deshone Kizer (2017).
Kizer was the QB on the 0-16 Browns.
He would end up getting Kizered if not for his draft stockNot just bad.

Trevor Lawrence completed 17-of-24 passes for 204 yards in the Jaguars' 24-21, Week 4 loss to the Bengals, adding eight carries for 36 additional yards and a touchdown.
Lawrence's night got off to an ominous start when D.J. Chark broke his ankle on the fourth play from scrimmage. That is going to be a major concern going forward, but Lawrence settled in this evening after some early inaccuracy caused primarily by late throws. Lawrence finally got his connection with Laviska Shenault going, finding the second-year pro for 6/99, including a 52-yard deep bomb for the normally YAC-focused wideout. What really kept the Bengals' defense off balance was Lawrence's rushing, with the rookie skillfully executing a number of read-option runs, including his seven-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The Jags are going to need a lot more of that going forward considering their personnel issues at wideout. Although tonight was easily Lawrence's best start as a pro, he will be a borderline top-18 option for next week's divisional date with the Titans.

I see the sky is already falling in here.
Nice game for the kid tonight.
Yes, for a rookie starting his 4th game with a horrendous supporting cast, this was a nice game. Certainly an improvement. Highest comp %, no INTs, 1 sack. Keep in mind he lost Chark early on.Was it? Maybe for fantasy rushing stats. I saw a guy who can't read defenses well at all post-snap. I saw a rookie QB who had a chance to take control of a tie game in winning time and gave the ball back in short order.
There was so much hype behind this dude, but if you paid attention to his college games against flight 1 NFL-style D's, he had similar issues then. I see a rich man's Blake Borders when I look closely at TLaw. He's young and has plenty of room to grow, so even if I am right, I may end up wrong.
