Star Wars Universe (6 Viewers)

ok, I going in for a deep deep dive. This will be by far my biggest re-watch ever. I am not sure I am going to be able to get through it, but here is the list of what I want to attempt

==============================

- Episode I : The Phantom Menace

- Episode II : Attack of the Clones

- The Clone Wars Movie

- The Clone Wars series (All 7 seasons except last 4 episodes)

- Episode III : Revenge of the Sith

- The Clone Wars (last 4 episodes)

- Solo : A Star Wars Story

- Rebels

- Andor

- Rogue One : A Star Wars Story

- Episode IV : A New Hope

- Episode V : The Empire Strikes Back

- Episode VI : Return Of the Jedi

- The Mandalorian*

- Ahsoka

- Episode VII : The Force Awakens

- Episode VIII : The Last Jedi

- Episode IX : Rise of Skywalker

===================

* I know I am suppose to watch Book of Boba Fett between seasons 2 and 3 but I have already seen it once and did not enjoy enough to do a re-watch. I will just do a quick read to remind myself of the Mandalorian cross overs....

On this big list the only items I have not seen is the Clone Wars series.

I am working my way through season 1 now and I like it. They nailed Anakin in this. It is a shame this version of Anakin did not make it to the big screen.

There are a couple schools of thoughts on the order the series should be watched... which one are you going with? Release date order apparently is not the "correct" order.

I am going in the exact order I listed, which is fairly close to chronological order.

I normally believe all first watches should be release order but since I have seen everything (and most things numerous times) except clone wars, I decided to try chronological order and see how it felt.

Umm... I was specifically referring to the clone wars series as mentioned in the post I quoted. I mostly watched it in release order with my son, but some things certainly did not make sense that way.

Delaying the last 4 episodes was highly recommended when I researched how best to watch in chronological order.

I agree with it.

Re-watching Andor Season 1. Even better the second time through. It's exactly what Star Wars should be---at least for the adult audience.
I just finished watching it for the first time. So much better than most of the other off-shoots. Grittier, political, and grown-up. Very well done.

Happy Andor Day, everyone! First 3 episodes of S2 release tonight at 9pm ET, 6pm PT.
Anyone watch these yet? I may wait until they all come out and binge with my kiddos
The way they are doing it this season is 4, 3 episode "arcs", with each covering/time-jumping a year. Disney is releasing 3 episodes each week, so I'm planning to do 4 mini-binge watches to cover each year.

There's no way I could wait until they are all released to do a total binge. More power to you if you have that will power...I know I don't..lol.

yea, I am doubtful I will be able to. But I am watching (rewatching for like the 4th time for me) season 1 with my kids and we have 3 or 4 episodes left so maybe

I did, I wish I could sleep til next week for the next 3 episodes. It moved....a lot.... :dih:
I did too.
felt like they covered very little ground in those 3 eps. different people stuck in place for whatever reason and waiting for news/action... kinda felt like it all could'e been done in 1, maybe 2 episodes. but all well done outside of that though, and looks great.

Andor is one of my favorite shows ever but thankfully March/April are crowded with some really high end releases (Last of Us, Wheet of TIme, White Lotus, etc) so I've got enough of a backlog I may be able to wait it out so I can binge. Still undecided though, I kinda want to just bump Andor to the front even though I'm in the middle of some of the others.

This has kind of been the show's MO though. 2-3 episodes of setup and then one crazy episode to wrap that up, and then back to set up.

S1 was a few episodes of setup on Ferrix, then the incredible episode where he leaves with Lucien. Then several episodes of setup on Aldhany, and the incredible episode where they finally initiate the raid. Then several episodes of setup in the prison before the incredible escape episodde.

I agree. The deliberate pacing of Season 1 was an absolute strength, not a weakness. The texture and richness of this series is off the charts imo.

I have no problem with slower pacing, as long as it progresses. I don't remember being concerned about S1 at all. But I felt like we got a bunch of repeated stuff that just didn't further my understanding of things or go anywhere until it finally did. Thinking mostly of the folk at the meeting point more than the wedding.

But I did love the slow burn and boom with the mom in the penthouse apt.

Agree with this. Some great scenes, visually stunning, fantastic acting/writing and further character building. I get why Cassian was stuck for 1.5 eps (that was Yavin), but I feel there could have been a better use of that time, it seemed redundant. Loved everything else though, especially the dinner and Mon Mothma rave dancing.

I was speaking solely about Season 1. I haven't started season 2 yet.

I was perusing Metacritic.com and the reviews for Season 2 are just impossibly strong. One reviewer basically said the first trio of episodes are the weakest, and the final 3 are as close to 'perfect' tv he's ever seen. High praise.

pulled the trigger for Monday at a 4dx theater to see revenge of the sith, I'm hoping for whiplash. I'm not sure that I've ever been more excited to see a movie that I've already seen before :dih:

I have Andor Season 1 on 4K BD Steelcase arriving Friday.

Best Star Wars show ever made.

Going to binge season 1 again and then binge season 2 once all the episodes are available.

Then watch Rogue One yet again which is my third favorite Star Wars movie of all time.
Good luck not watching ANH immediately after...

I made a mistake not rewatching season 1. It’s been so long I forgot most of what happened, the connections, etc.

First 3 episodes were fine. Somewhat dragging. TBH the whole wedding in episode 3 was boring and the rave at the end was me thinking, “what the hell is this?”

I will rewatch season 1, then start season 2 again to reset things.

Yes I had a hard time remembering some of the people but I loved all 3 episodes. Felt the wedding scenes dragged some but otherwise great stuff. Heard the gas gets turned up around episodes 5-6

Loved the first 3 episodes. I may be in the minority but I thought the wedding was well done. Watching the evolution of Mon Mothma's character was entertaining. My only real complaint with the first 3 episodes was the arc on the planet where Cassian was held...didn't love that, thought that dragged. But, there were some funny moments with that group so not terrible.

pulled the trigger for Monday at a 4dx theater to see revenge of the sith, I'm hoping for whiplash. I'm not sure that I've ever been more excited to see a movie that I've already seen before :dih:
I took my son to see it over the weekend, he had an absolute blast! I was very disappointed with both the audio and and video quality at the theater tho... the reclining seats were the only saving grace of that place.

Very much in line with what I felt.

I have to think that rag tag group holding Cassian will resurface at some point. If not, why spend 3 episodes with them?

That planet is actually Yavin IV, where the main rebel base will eventually be located. It seems as if these rebels were the first ones there. So in that regards, it's an interesting tie-in, but I agree the part with Cassian lasted a bit too long.

I thought that either agents of Luthen or Saw Guerrera (Forest Whitaker) were going to show up when they got word the contact was killed, pull Andor and wipe out the rest of them for being so incompetent; reinforcing Luthens "using the enemies tools/ burn my decency" speech from S1.

Was that the reveal when we saw him take off over the temples?

Recaps of season 1 all seemed to focus on the major events, but the most important part seems to be the financial arrangement Mothman made to sell her daughter, with Tay the middleman and the groom's father who provided the money... I'm still not clear on this huge tension we can see on Mothman's face (except while drunk raving) and what Luthen is worried about. If someone sees a recap that focuses on that or finds the right spot in season 1, please post so I can focus on that.

Yup, that was the Massassi Temple, where the rebel base is eventually located. Seems as if Luthen knows about this planet and is using it as a rendezvous for now. To be determined if he is the one who initiates the use of it as the base.
