Summerpalooza: Now at QB for the Buffalo Bills...Goo Goo Dolls (3 Viewers)

So yeah I'm flying Monday, working/meeting my new people Tuesday/Wednesday, a little loose on Thursday then flying home Friday

When I'm not flying I'll probably be at least reachable by text.  Maybe Eephus want to team up, San Fran boyos?  You can handle some early FF chalk and I'll cede music choices to you

Also looking at loads of unexpected travel next week and probably the following. I was  :excited:  for this chaos, but I sure won't be much help with tracking and updating and would probably have to just autoskip the music only draft. Still in for that but hanging by a thread.

OK, here's my concept but it's probably for players only.  I might have to pick a side.

When you draft a pretend football player you must also pick a song (album?) performed by an artist (solo or band) who can trace origins to either:

  1. The player's NFL city. -OR-
  2. His college (within a 100 mile radius)
So if you picked Kevin Durant, you'd also need to pick a song by a performer from Oakland or within 100 miles of Austin.

Lineage can be traced from being born there, or beginning their career there so Joe Strummer would be eligible for either Ankara or London.  We'll use Wikipedia as the authoritative source.

I haven't followed the NFL for about five years so I have no idea if these rules will even work.

The fine print:

I'm more a Packer fan than a football fan these days so we'll give them territorial rights to Milwaukee.

NFL team representation is by their named city e.g. New York, San Francisco rather than E. Rutherford or Santa Clara

Teams named after states or regions get their home city, not the entire state, e.g. Boston, Nashville
Should we rename it the America, #### Yeah! Draft?

I don't know if we've ever done an all American songs draft, which this would basically be, so I like the concept.

I don't know if there are any draftable NFL players from the University of Vermont or Buffalo University but those schools would unlock Montreal and Toronto respectively

This puts an interesting twist on the whole thing. Do you take a player from Vermont just to get the Arcade Fire song draft eligible?

I'll play. I don't what we're playing,  but I'll play.  Agree, slow.

What do you nerds think of The Record Company? Just stumbled across this band 10 minutes ago. Two songs in and it's promising. Rita Mae Young

Opinions from people who play FF on this format (is it too many starters)?

1QB

2RB

3WR

1QB/RB/WR/TE (superflex)

1RB/WR/TE (standard flex)

1TE

1PK

1DF

0.5 point per reception

4 point passing TD

All else Yahoo standard scoring.
Are we supposed to pick which flex we want between super and standard?

Googled him.

State College is in the middle of nowhere but Dan Hartman, Bobby Troup and Glenn Branca hail from Harrisburg.
He was born in the Bronx and plays for the Giants, are there any good musical acts from around there?

I was thinking both.

My thinking is the way the QB pool seems to be, 2 QB feels like fun but with potentially 14-16 teams and bye weeks I don't want to force in a mandatory 2nd QB spot so that's where the super flex comes in.

Similarly with the 0.5 PPR, some receivers can add some value, so if someome in theory wanted to roll out a 5 WR option they could do that too. Basically leaving things open for multiple different strategies.

But like I said, I haven't played fantasy football in a while and these might be bad ideas.

I prefer to have one of the flexes and not two.

So really bad jokes are okay?  Good to know.

Sorry Mrs R. I am confused. No bad joke was intended. Hanging by a thread is just an expression to explain I'm considering missing the draft. Wth?
I know that.  If you lived with Mr R for a very long time, you'd be sensitized to that sort of thing, too.

I am the La Grange Rancheros.  A haw, haw, haw, haw, a haw.

America, #### Yeah, Fantasy Football Music Draft

This will be a 20 round Combined fantasy football and music draft. With Eephus in for FF and Chaos Commish bowing out, this leaves Hov34 out in the cold as he was the lone remaining music only drafter, sorry GB.

When you select your player, you will select your song at the same time per the rules below (essentially a musician who lives or started their career within 160km from the FF player drafted's pro or college team).

As of now, we are going with a 14 team head to head league. Hopefully with it being a slow live draft, we can be fairly patient and accommodate JZilla's busy week, since without him, we are uneven numbers:

Hopefully people start to check in this morning and we confirm these numbers. This is also the last call for late entries, though if you join at this point, you may need to recruit a second person as well to keep the numbers even. As we get moving this AM and get ready to start, I will determine a draft order.

These are the more complete music rules

Also, I've never played super flex before. This totally changes my strategy, though it dovetails with my music selection nicely (should I get the pick, of course).

I guess I don't understand, we're drafting 20 either way. I like the superflex as a flexible 2nd QB slot and the other flex for... flexibility in the lineup. I suppose we could drop to 2 WR if the concern is too many starters?
I'd just keep it. The fun of this draft is in the music, anyway.
