Well make up your mind. Is gonna **** or is he gonna kill you?
First he is gonna **** then is gonna kill me.

I am one of the few people here who probably strongly enjoys those kinds of movies. I had The English Patient and The Bridges of Madison County on my 90s 100. Out of Africa is certainly in the same realm as those so if you like that kind of movie, sure it’s worth checking out. I thought it was disappointing. Didn’t hate it but was definitely bored through many stretches.Out of Africa won 7 and I bet it doesn’t make the next 100 either. But yeah I get your point and Platoon is a movie I know I’m a lot lower on than the general “middle aged” guy.Well, like I said - it won 4 Academy Awards for a reason. I'll leave it at that.
Not just 'the general "middle aged" guy'....Roger Ebert had it number 9 overall and he was one of the best in the biz. He gone now. So OLDER guys were high on it too.
I've never seen Out of Africa. Has anybody seen it? Worth my time?

Which actress in the film was married to a famous music industry titan?Pamela Springsteen?
Hint 1: she had a very tiny part in the film.
Hint 2: her husband/music titan happened to murder her

Agree with this. Fat, hairy chested James Bond was just not good at all.I will admit I have Roger Moore > Sean Connery.

And all are still better than that steaming pile, Birdman.Crash, Shakespeare In Love, and Green Book all win Best Picture.
I watched one of KP’s movies that I hadn’t even heard of last night: The Stepfather. While it’s not exactly a high quality production, it’s a very good thriller. It kept me entertained the whole time and the stepfather was a great villain. Was part Hitchcock Shadow of a Doubt and part 80s horror.
This word... I do no think it means what you think it means.debate

Sean Connery is the much better actor. Moore had the much better movies. I also prefer Moore's sarcasm than Connery's. I prefer Moore to Connery.I will admit I have Roger Moore > Sean Connery.

I would think it is the highest 5 movies in the ranking that you haven't seen.Id still like a consensus top 5 from @Ilov80s and @KarmaPolice on what I should watch for the ones I havnt seen.

I agree, though I may be biased by watching Moore's Bonds first. To me, Bond should be suave, sophisticated, charming and witty in addition to being capable of great action. I will never argue the point against a Connery supporter - it's just what I prefer. If you try to tell be Craig > Moore, THEN we'll have an argument.

@JAA - did you post a list of the ones you haven't seen?
But I thought the list was a "desert island" list of your favorite movies so they would be in order of the movies you would recommend most? I am not trying to be difficult but just understand. @KarmaPolice you might have missed this post. Where did you find out about this movie?
Yes, that last part. The list was MY desert island movies, but it doesn't mean that I would recommend my top 10 to everybody. For example, there is 0 chance I would tell anybody to watch Blue Velvet unless I knew them, their tastes in movies, and thought they watched and enjoyed similar. That is a tough watch for me, but sometimes I want that. But I thought the list was a "desert island" list of your favorite movies so they would be in order of the movies you would recommend most? @JAA@JAA I would say
Thief- heist movie
Heathers- dark comedy
The Verdict- courtroom drama
House of Games- con man movie
Something Wild - dark rom-com
To Live and Die in LA- police thriller
They all have either comedy or action. Aren’t artsy or foreign.
You are Vincent from "Vincent's picks" aren't you? That explains a lotEVERY time a customer at the video store would ask for a recommendation out of the blue,

Glad you liked it. I think I said as much, but definitely more thriller than horror. I just found the Stepfather to be quite effective and the chilling "who am I here?" hit me. I am pretty sure the Pure Cinema Podcast was the one that was pimping it on one of the episodes. If not them it was a podcast I was listening to right be for my 31 horror in October run.

EVERY time a customer at the video store would ask for a recommendation out of the blue, I would ask them what they have watched and liked recently. I need way more information to know if I am recommending Tucker and Dale, Matyrs, Blue Valentine, Supertroopers, or.. you get the idea. All those movies I love, but they all aren't for everybody.
This is a great film. It seems a little low budget production quality wise some times, but I like to think that was intentional to give it a grittier feel. A great car chase scene, which probably loses impact today due to cgi oversaturation. I think it's got one of the best climax / denouement pairings in a film ever. Like, to this day it seems people aren't allowed to end a film like this one does.#68: TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A.
80s' #38 movie. I've not seen this one and will see if the library has a copy as it doesn't look like it can be streamed.
That was one of mine as well. If the crew was a little younger, I think I went with something more like The Others for a thriller.Yes, that last part. “Have you seen Stir of Echoes yet?” was my go to…or The Generals Daughter
That's a possibility for this year's 31 in 31. Last year I did a short series that I mostly not gotten to (I think The Omens?), and I had a blast with that. I think that will become a common thing each year going forward too.@Ilov80s - I must have missed that along with Pip's post about Fast Times.I watched one of KP’s movies that I hadn’t even heard of last night: The Stepfather. Also forgot that’s Terry O’Quinn (Locke from Lost)
