WR Ja'Marr Chase, CIN (1 Viewer)

/bump

What if losing Callahan has bigger implications than initially thought for the offensive system and play calling.

Chase has no plans of negotiating a long term deal any more this season.

According to sources, the star wide receiver believes the Bengals misled him when they told him at the end of last season, and again during the offseason, he would get an extension that ultimately did not happen.

RIP to all of you who drafted this guy in the first round.. Today's stats is going to be a normal week for him.
Link?
Link for what? The fact that the guy wants a record contract and gets 6 catches for 62 yards after getting 1 100 yard game in his last 8 last season?

I am sorry, I just get the hype for him.
Show us where Ja`marr touched you , and hurt you. This almost feels personal .

Nah, just don't think he has good as alot of people think. 4/35 today.. Def not worth the money he wants.

Didn't they offer him the same contract as Jefferson? He turned it down and that is why it did not happen.

Same dollars, but most of the guaranteed money did not kick in for 2 years.

He may be playing himself to a lower contract at this pace. Where is the dynamic downfield threat or YAC artist we use to see? Watch the Bengals pay Higgins instead…(probably not, but if things continue to sour and Chase doesn’t start playing like an elite receiver it is a possibility…)

Everyone needs a chill pill in here. Next week the Bengals are playing the "get-right" defense of the Commanders. They're going to throw all over them at will and Chase will feast.

I sure hope so.

Did anyone see his interview from after the game? He's obviously not happy with something and Burrows answers about Chase are strange. I don't believe there is an issue between them but an issue between Chase and coaches/management. Burrow has said he thinks Chase should be paid and I think both are frustrated it didn't happen. Seems like Chase is in a weird space (as seen by his demeanor and comments).

Maybe it is just the missed time during pre-season and camp, similar to Aiyuk not being 100% involved yet.

I would think that CIN would pepper their best WR, especially in a game where they are desperate for a win.

Something is off here.

Other than the bizarre freak out on something that was not close to a penalty, I thought he was fine Sunday. The Chiefs did a nice job of forcing other guys to make plays and they were proven right with some key drops by the Bengals other "weapons".

Chase is a guy you can take away with double teams and scheme, but usually Burrow can exploit that. We will see if Higgins coming back frees him up a little.

Zero concerns.

He's one of the best QB's in the league. He's tied to a very good passing QB.

It's early. He missed practice/camp time over this contract dispute. They will eventuall shake the rust off and he'll eat.

I agree with those above: Expect a huge get right game for the Bengals and Chase this weekend.

There's a game within the game that some stars can play, and some can't. Say all the right things in front of the camera, stay out of trouble, and you'll get paid (either by your team or the team that trades for you). It's all about perception, narrative, and marketing yourself as a product. Your actions either help the brand or hurt the brand. He is really hurting the brand right now.

He did the right thing taking out an injury insurance policy, and any half-wit agent can get that reimbursed as part of the signing bonus of the next contract.

The current narrative makes me side with the Bengals and gets me thinking they may be on to something not signing this guy long term. He has to flip that narrative, and a 12 catch 150 yard day in a win over WAS would be a good start. If he has a 4/50 and they lose, this is might get REAL ugly.

for sure

Ja’Marr Chase asked what he’s looking forward to having Higgins back out there next to him:

“Less double teams.”

No question the math changes for the Bengals now with the full complement at WR.

Chase is gonna join fellow LSU alum Jayden Daniel’s in DC next year. :grad:
He’s under contract. How 1st round picks is Washington willing to trade for Chase? Even OBJ got a 1st and a 3rd plus a former 1st round safety. Plus they would have to pay him a ton. Highly doubt it.

was just offered Chase and Puka for Mason and Rice regular ppr 10 team ESPN redraft league if puka and/or CMC comes back would be good for me but no idea if that's realistic.

So . . . he's just a boom/bust high variance type guy now? A gadget player? The new Gabe Davis?

W.T.F. IS HAPPENING?

When you see him torch the D for a 50 yard TD, WHY DOES HE DISAPPEAR AFTER THAT?!

If you go back the past few years (with or without Burrow), he's kind of always been a boom/bust player. It's just his Boom weeks are incendiary week winners.

I don't know what this offense will look like (for the rest of this year or future years) but I think we know what he is at this point.

Did you pull the trigger on this offer? I hope so.
F No I didn't it already timed out by start of games Sunday. While watching the KC game and he collapsed I was thinking F Me I should have just taken a chance!

Ja’Marr Chase caught 10-of-12 targets for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals’ Week 5 overtime loss to the Ravens.

The 193 yards were the third most of Chase’s increasingly-illustrious career. The two-score performance was his second in three weeks, with all five of his touchdowns coming over the past three games. Amazingly, he also ceded two touchdowns to Tee Higgins, while today was the first time this year he reached 10-plus targets. The big play was a fourth quarter receiver screen where Chase turned a swerving target into a swerving 70-yard YACmaster. His other score was a 41-yarder where a barely-executed Joe Burrow play fake still allowed Chase to get free on an in-breaking route over the middle deep. His speed did the rest. You could argue Chase still isn’t seeing enough targets, but his efficiency and play-making have been through the roof this season. The Giants are an excellent Week 6 road matchup.

Four weeks have gone by and :crickets:?

Wilson owner here in an auction draft league getting interest from Chase owner (Jets fan). Chase is currently WR1 and forecast for a top 3 finish here on out at FBG with Wilson currently WR3 with a #23 here on out.

Wilson carries a better keeper salary, so that is a factor…

Would love to hear more up to date WR banter from the Bengals community. 🏈

Redraft Id rather have Chase

Dynasty Id rather have Chase

Keeper salary could be a factor, but it would have to be a significant difference. The question marks of who will be throwing the ball to Wilson in 1-2 years would be my concern (track record with Zach Wilson, Mike White, etc). Only concern with Chase is him moving to another team in FA, but I don't see that happening. Chase still put up numbers with Jake Browning at QB last year.

Ja'Marr Chase gained 49 yards after the catch, +35 YAC over expected on his 67-yard catch and run from Joe Burrow.

Chase reached a top speed of 20.86 mph, his 3rd-fastest speed of the season. His top three speeds have all come against the Ravens.

Ja'Marr Chase's three fastest speeds so far this season, per @NextGenStats

21.42 MPH on his 70 yard touchdown against the Ravens (Week 5)
21.33 MPH on his 41 yard touchdown against the Ravens (Week 5)
20.86 MPH on this 67 yard touchdown against the Ravens (right now)

This guy is going ultra insano mode and people just take it for granted.

In the time it took me to walk across the street he scored another 70-yard TD, just automatically.
