WR Ja'Marr Chase, CIN (1 Viewer)

Lots of people are faulting someone trying to get their money while sitting on the couch. I wonder how many of you would work for only 20% of what you make now?

You knew this was going on if you did a redraft.
It may not seem like fair pay at the moment, but if it wasn't fair pay, why put pen to paper on it?

Got him in flex for now. They don’t have many options with Higgins doubtful so if he plays limited I’ll keep him in.
I think the "limited" part came from him feeling sick on Sat morning, but reports are he felt better later in the day.

If he's playing all year then I have to assume he intends to ball out to jack up his contract even more.

But still have to see if he even plays at all today.

Officially active.

James Palmer reported he'd be limited, said red zone and I think third down kind of stuff.

I'm starting him.
I'm sure there's a lot of "it depends" on that - if they go up big Chase will sit. If they're down or close he might play a lot. Might actually be sick so this might have nothing to do with his contract (or might have everything to do with his contract).

Any way I'm starting him and if can at least get an average Ja'Marr Chase game out of him I'll be very happy.

Wait, why? If you have time. I have a similar dilemma, and right now I’ve got Iosivas in there instead. Actually, I have Ladd McConkey and Rashid Shaheed I can start also, but I need to start three of four of those guys.

Chase, Iosivas, McConkey, and Shaheed. I don’t know. This kind of sucks, actually. I’m also starting Davante, but that’s a given.

I'm starting him and i have George Pickens in my stable.

I'll probably regret it too.

I got some similar dilemmas and I’m going chase. Tempering expectations but he still has the higher ceiling.

I never was great with sit/start decisions. I can build a team, but the start/sit thing kills me year in and year out. I’d turn it over to the experts, but they seem to do worse than I do with my teams. Maybe I’m just dreaming.

Yeah, I’m just being foolish. Turning it over would be a good move at this point. Know one’s limitations and all.

My gut would be to sit Shaheed out of that group. Chase should probably get at least 50% of snaps and Higgins is out, so that should drive looks towards Chase. Of course the Pats will know that too so would probably double him when he is out there - freeing up Iosivas.

I do think Chase will be motivated to play well this year, basically it is a contract year for him. He also seems like he cares about the team, at least to the extent it doesn't interfere with his long-term finances. And as long as he doesn't get hurt, his interests and the team's interests during the game are basically the same - win the game for the team, and put up great stats while doing it for Chase.

It could lead to some business decisions about whether to fight for the extra yards or maybe short-arm a catch over the middle when a safety is closing on him, but except for that he should be giving everything he has.

I think every expert I follow still has Chase top 10 for this week on their current rankings. I know none of them list McConkey or Shaheed in their top 20.

I follow a bunch of experts, and one rule I give myself is if 10 out of 10 guys rank player A over player B then I go with player A. If 9 out of 10 do it, then depending on my gut feeling, I might pick the guy favored by only 1 out of 10.

I’ve fallen for the “limited” thing by beat writers before, only to be burned by a player getting a full load. I’m starting Chase without hesitation.

I own zero shares of Chase, but the decision seems simple. With his draft capital, if he is active, you simply start him and hope for the best.
What if you were in a dynasty league, are stacked at WR, and could sub in Kupp?
Few have your luxury. So in most weeks Kupp is on your bench? Well done. For this week, with all the facts in regards to a Chase leading up to this game, id personally lean Kupp over him straight up. Rams gonna have to score points against Detroit.

Hate benching my 1st round pick, but the whole scenario is gross. Hopefully he goes off so I can start him the rest of the season.

Who are you starting over him?

I am rolling with Kupp over him in dynasty but I am rolling with Chase over Tajae Spears in redraft. Tough inflection point and I hate hedging, but it feels like my best bet.

RIP to all of you who drafted this guy in the first round.. Today's stats is going to be a normal week for him.
Link?
Link for what? The fact that the guy wants a record contract and gets 6 catches for 62 yards after getting 1 100 yard game in his last 8 last season?

I am sorry, I just get the hype for him.
Are you trolling? Have you watched him play? He is one the most dynamite players I have ever seen.

Dude has 1 100 yard game in his last 9 starts... Come on man. It's ok to admit some players are overrated.

He's got some of the worst takes I've ever seen. And I think he's serious.

Zac Taylor and this offense has been ROUGH. I've never seen Burrow so disinterested as he did after this loss. I bet the locker room is a total disaster as a result of inept coaching. If CIN wasn't so cheap I would say Taylor is the first coach fired this year. I don't think CIN can afford to fire him since he is under contract until 2026.

Saw a stat that they only ran 48 offensive plays yesterday - second lowest in all of week 1. Not good. These coaches do not know how to maximize the talent they have.
