If you like this one, I think you'll definitely like the last one as well.I listened to this album a few days ago and really enjoyed it.
I'll be going back to it soon. And I'll have to check out his last one.

I don’t understand how this is possible but I believe you.One of the guys in Iceage was in menudo.
For better and worse, the DBTs sure are consistentI realized some time ago I don't really like the Drive-By Truckers, I just like(d) Jason Isbell.
Elias Bender Rønnenfelt killed the bass player, cut up his stomach and threw it in the stew.I don’t understand how this is possible but I believe you.One of the guys in Iceage was in menudo.
I've not listened to much yet and those that I have, it was only once but I've liked:New Deacon is pretty good. First new album I’ve heard this year. What has stood out for everyone?
I will try the Destroyer but I can just never get into him. The Deacon album has one of his usual 4 part extended works in the middle and I think it's the weak point in the album but I really like whats before and after it.I've not listened to much yet and those that I have, it was only once but I've liked:
Kiwi Jr. - Football Money
Andy Shauf - The Neon Skyline
Looking forward to settling in with the new Destroyer tonight. I'll also give the Dan Deacon a listen too.
Nice to hear from Wolf Parade again.New Deacon is pretty good. First new album I’ve heard this year. What has stood out for everyone?
RIP. Loved their sound.Rip Andy Gill, guitarist and cofounder of gang of four.
Yeah... I mentioned the guitar sound in the rip thread- so distinctive and so replicated since. I'm with you in not digging the later stuff.Gill's jagged guitar playing was a huge influence on four decades of post-punk music. He kept the band going after their 2011 reunion. I wasn't a big fan of the post-Jon King records but Go4 always put on a great live show.
I get you. He's definitely polarizing.Really looking forward to my own personal tradition of reading all sorts of glowing reviews for a new Destroyer album, getting two songs in, and then feeling like the internet's playing an elaborate joke on me.

It's not as bad as the singles would lead you to believe. They kind of cram all of their dumb ideas in the first few songs (singing falsetto, Joan Jett interpolations, etc.), and then get more or less back to basics on the second half of the album. I think they're done making front-to-back awesome records (Insomniac, Nimrod), but a few good tunes every couple years is something I guess.Eephus said:I kind of like the new Green Day. It's fun to play spot the influence as they shamelessly rip off other songs.
Saw him perform on the CBS Saturday Morning show and liked him - will check this out.mphtrilogy said:Out today,

Some nice tunes, cool voice nice songwriter in the JC/Kristofferson mode
I listened based on your description/recommendation - love it!I'm going to recommend Andy Shauf - The Neon Skyline, he's been growing in popularity in some time up here. His last album was a concept album set at one night at a party. The new one is also a concept album set at a Toronto diner. It's folky, sometimes moody, well written, where you probably want to pay attention to the lyrics. I just noticed it even caught Pitchfork's attention with a 7.9, which for this type of music these days is pretty high praise but it's been getting strong reviews up here for a while.
Try Again
Neon Skyline
He played 'Try Again' on Jimmy Kimmel last night.I listened based on your description/recommendation - love it!I'm going to recommend Andy Shauf - The Neon Skyline, he's been growing in popularity in some time up here. I downloaded his previous album also - but have not listened to it yet. I surely will at some point though. He played 'Try Again' on Jimmy Kimmel last night.
I like the nada, just ordered the Vinyl...New Nada Surf didn't blow me away.
I kind of like the new Green Day. It's fun to play spot the influence as they shamelessly rip off other songs.
The Supersuckers have even less new to say than Green Day but it's fun too.
Try again is my favorite track of the moment, really digging itThat Andy Shauf album, OTOH, keeps getting better every time I listen to it.
whoa, I love that already based on the art work and the yeast!Has anything ever been more for me than the new craft beer collaboration between Town Brewery (which is excellent and under an hour from my house) and freaking PUP!#!#!# And it's even named for 'Scorpion Hill' and all proceeds go to charity

Borderline is a banger imoA few years ago I would have taken the day off on the day a new Tame Impala album came out. Now I’m not even sure I’ll give it more than one listen.
I'm going to try to get 24 when they go on sale. If I do, I can send you a 6-pack.whoa, I love that already based on the art work and the yeast!
Serious question: can you get some for me?

finally diving into this... thanks.Jaysus said:ETA: I wanted to reply to this thread anyway with a comment about how much I love the new Alien Nosejob LP... another Aussie band that makes me think that Australian music is my spirit animal. This review sums up the album better than I can - it's... eclectic(?) but awesome. Kind of Parquet Courts meets IDLES meets Clowns... but not really? I dunno, something like that.
P.S. they also released a punk AF EP this month that almost makes them sound like a different band. I hope they go on a KGaTLW-like streak this year with record releases.
